Hi, I just finish my first week of PA school. I had multiple exams coming next week and I was feeling a little bit scared. After watching your video I feel I have more idea how to plan my study time. I just got the RoshReview! Thank you so much for creating this valuable content!

As many PA pages that I’ve listened to the content on, your page has the content that I’ve heard thus far. Thank you for using your analytical talents to be able to provide this information. So many positives, but I want to keep this short. Kudos to you and honorable mention to your wife because without the right support, this would’ve been nearly impossible.🙏🏾💗

Starting PA school soon! Do you have any good Baki deck recommendations to use? I’ve struggled with creating cards in the past and have found premade decks really helpful! Thanks for posting this video!

You're awesome! Thank you so much. I'm currently in my first semester of PA school and my adviser suggested I study more with partners. What was your experience regarding group study? :) thank you again!!

Hi Mario, thank you so much for posting these videos! I’ll be starting PA school this fall and am a bit nervous about going back to school full time. A lot of my future classmates are looking into getting note taking applications like good notes and notability and bought IPads to support these apps. Did you also use apps like these for note taking and do you think it’s worth buying an IPad? If not, what types of tools did you use for note taking? Thank you so much! So happy to be adding to the growing Latino PA community!!

Hi amiga! I imagine you already started PA school by now. If you have congratulations and welcome to this rollercoaster that is PA school!
My favorite note taking app is Notability. That being said, after the first quarter I moved away from note taking and started taking notes/creating flashcards during class using Anki. I would legit type my notes into a question/answer format and essentially make into a flash card. This way at the end of the day I could go home and actively retrieve and test myself vs passively reread what I normally would just write/highlight as a note!
Animo amiga, si se puede! And again congrats on getting into and starting PA school! 🤝🏼🙌🏼

Just for your info., OBS Studio is a good program for putting your camera on the screen and doing something else

Thank you so much this advice is gold. I do have one question. I’ve heard that classes are mandatory (unlike in some medical schools where you can skip and self study) can you talk about how you took advantage of that class time? Did you take notes? Make anki? Study anki? Or tried to just follow along and study after class?

Thanks Mario! I’m going to buy Rosh for the practice questions. I just took my 2nd block exam today and I literally feel that I’m on my tippy toes to not fall below 70% I’ve tried memorizing things and it hasn’t helped. But when you mentioned about how Rosh provides feedback, and the sample question you showed us, well that almost looked like my exam.

make sure you buy the correct Rosh exams! If you are in didactics I recommend this one: www.roshreview.com/pa-student-didactic/
That qbank single handedly carried me through my clinical medicine course!

I want to read the book you mentioned, but I feel you have hit the main points the book teaches. Do you think it would be worth buying the book?

While I did cover the basics, there are more tangible examples, stories, and other elements of "what not to do" when studying that were included in the text beyond what I explained. I'd still recommend it. Thanks for watching!

Hi Mario, I’ve been accepted to PA school and will have a lot of free time before starting. I have heard that studying before PA school is not recommended, but I want to do something to start getting ahead. Do you think it would be helpful to buy PANCE prep pearls, going over the blueprint, or getting Rosh/UWorld and start getting accustomed to the material?

The biggest advice I can give you is to rest and enjoy the time off! You will have more than your fair share of studying during didactic. And the knowledge gains made from pre-studying before school starts would be either minimal or no benefit at all given that your future PA school professors will be testing you on specifics that are unique to their class!
If you still want to spend some time preparing, I would advise really diving into the cognitive science of how humans learn, memorize, retrieve information. You can start by reading this book “make it stick, the science of successful learning”that changed the way I approached my studying. Beyond that…please enjoy the precious time you currently have to catch up with family and friends.
