What's the difference between living with integrity and being selfish and not considering other's needs and wants? Like my wife wants me to go to the store with her, I don't feel like going to the store but it would mean a lot to her to have me go?
Integrity is doing what YOU want and doing what you say you’re going to do. Tell your wife how you feel about that situation and what you want to do. I’ve been much more honest with my wife lately - explaining my needs and wants, however uncomfortable. I feel liberated and she is far less likely to criticize me or question my integrity.
You need to manage how you're saying you don't want to go to the store. Telling her a little more about why you don't want to go to the store is helpful. She might be viewing it as an opportunity to spend time together and you might view it as an opportunity to divide and conquer some tasks. so just explain what your rationale is for not going.
