- Students in the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters' paid, four-year Apprentice and Training Program become certified and trained in a range of carpentry skills, receive assistance in finding employment during the apprenticeship, and attend training classes for one week every 90 days.

I'm pretty sure it's free. It should be a 4 year apprenticeship program, where I live they pay $14-15 an hour with no experience! Google your local carpenter/laborer union council and talk to them about it.
If I remember correctly I had to pay 30 dollars to the department of labor Before I started as an apprentice. Worth every penny.

Vin John you’ll start at 18$ hr but you’ll get a nice raise every year till you become a Journeyman 4years If you choose the life of a non-union carpenter prepared to get screwed out of money and safety in trun you make think about your family
If your looking for action wouldn’t recommend union veryyyy slow on when you actually work on job sites

Journeyman is a "title" in reference to the experien a union working individual has.
