- Early last week we were out working on our Bureau County, IL farm and found numerous rubs in a small area and a cluster of beds on the edge of a ridge.
In this video we show how to interpret the sign and how we would set up to hunt that deer based on where we know he is bedding. This strategy works best in October, but any time you find sign like this it can teach you something!

About The Whitetail Group
The Whitetail Group was created by Bobby Kendall with the vision of becoming the country’s preeminent developer of recreational properties for the ELITE whitetail hunter. Bobby’s passion for the outdoors and recreational development burns so hot that he moved his entire family to the Golden Triangle in West Central Illinois from their home in Up-State New York. Bobby’s entire career has been devoted to honing his woodsmanship skills and continuing to deepen his understanding of the behavioral patterns of America’s most popular big game animal. This knowledge and understanding of whitetails manifests itself in the careful layout and meaningful improvements made to each tract of land The Whitetail Group develops.

Wow there is a lot of really great information in this video! Thanks! 👍
Here in NW Alabama big woods I find areas like that with big aggressive rubs only in rut bed areas. A big buck will wait on the does to come to him in areas like that. But a bucks core here looks entirely different. But I still get excited on any big rubs.
I often find lots of rubs near doe Bedding just off field edges, I'll bet I could get lots of night time Buck Pics there. I'd look deeper.
I’m with @wnyprepper. While a mature buck(s) has obviously spent some time there, bucks don’t bed during the day next to a field, especially where there’s no cover.
Thank you. (The music is obnoxious.)
Where can I get the weather app at so I can predict certain days? Great infor!
I have rubs all over one side of a my hunting place but not seeing no movement
How many yards would you say the bed was from the edge of field? And Do you typically see deer bedding in layers so does bedding closer to food then bucks behind them or bucks bedding right close to the edge of transitions?
Where do you find that graph at? I been searching and searching for a graph that shows me the pressure and the temp x and I can never find one hell I'll pay for an app that shows me that.
where did you find this map of fronts at? been looking haven't found one yet?
How many yards off would you typically set up off a bed?
He's not bedding there. He is heading from the field back into woods. Nite time rubbing. He probably beds 200 yards down
That area isn’t nearly thick enough for a buck to be bedding there. He’s definitely bedding close by but likely in much thicker timber. Those beds you found are likely doe beds.
So what weather app are you using? I would like to use it.
Interesting, informative video, but the background music is annoying. Just your voice would be much better.
Anyone know the app he's using for the weather?
Turn the music up a little bit next time. I could still barley hear you.
Not thick enough for mature buck bedding
So you’re walking through his bedroom spreading your scent everywhere?
You gonna coach them to kill a buck 😂
