    Your information correlates precisely with mine here in Central upstate New York
    I've been studying and keeping track of movements for over 25 years Of course the advent of trail cameras has helped immensely My favorite time of year to be in the woods is the last few days of October and the first week of November when the Mature bucks are really moving ! Great video Matt My name is also Matt LOL

    It's weird but your dates are really close to buck movement here in northern Oklahoma.. the days are just a few days off but really close. I don't expect bucks to start moving in daytime until Halloween on. By November 6-10 bucks are really active and breeding is going on about the same days as your chart. The DNR says peak breeding is November 15 according to their research and from my experience your days are really close to ours. Nice work 👏

    nice video.. Alot of nice deer around ya on public.. Matures bucks are rare here in Michigan especially the farther north you go. DNR manages for boards per foot not wildlife... The breeding timeline matched up with my experience hunting southern MI. Up near Kalkaska MI where i hunt now, peak is bout the 4/5 of November.

    Great information, thank you for sharing! I tend to see about the same here in PA. Seems like that third week of October is when you see daytime buck activity pick up. If you get a nice temperature drop from the last week of October through the second week of November you'd better be in the woods and ready.

    Thanks for the video! I hope the rye you planted is still growing strong. I finally got some rain to get things going not too far from you. I also have plotted my daylight photos over a few less years and I have two observations that you may find interesting 1. my daylight photos plummet beginning Nov 5th. I suspect the gun opener may have something to do with that. 2nd I see a very small second surge December 1-5th . I am curious if you have ever seen that in your photos. My December 1-5 tracks close to October 25th through the 28th (so no where near October 30th to Nov 4th). Cheers

    • @northernforestwhitetail
      @northernforestwhitetail  10 месяцев назад +1

      My rye is doing excellent. So is the oat over seeding. We got a bunch of rain here over the last three weeks. What a change from this summer. Yeah I’ve noticed the uptick in photos in the first week of December. I didn’t plot that on here because I’m taking down a lot of my cameras that time of year so I don’t have consistent data. I don’t get the reduction in daylight photos after November 5th though. I suspect that is due to the fact that most of my pictures come from NE MN where the hunter density is extremely low. To where I don’t think the deer really feel the hunting pressure the way they do around most of the state. Thanks for sharing your observations on this though. Gets me fired up for that golden time of year. Hope you have some luck this fall.

    Love this data driven info . Ain't enough out there . Just a lot of what works for me type stuff. Well , what works for you may not work for me . There's a lot of diff variables. But this data driven stuff I can get behind I love it! Great job! I haven't asked this cuz I didn't want to hear instructions that lead me down the wrong path and end up doing me a disservice. But I think I can ask you and I'll be ok. I live in Northern Lower Michigan. Towards the middle, upper & center of the mitten. West Branch MI . So I have been looking to find buck bedding or kind of where specific bucks like to spend there time right ? I see a huge buck in area a few times during the day and I want to know where he spends most of his time or where does he feel the safest ? So I've been looking for buck beds and I believe I've found some but when I look around I am seeing many beds in a somewhat smaller area. So this one spot I found to me is text book. No pressure zero. So far out in state land . I'd hunt it sure but I don't want to hunt inside the bed area. I e found a lot of beds and a few you can tell are full time every day beds . But my prob is ...there is many beds and the last time I went out there I saw many new fresh beds and to me it don't make sense that during the rut you would find an area where several different bucks would all bed down in one smaller area together. I'd think they would all end up fighting and not want to be together during the rut. Is that a false statement or wrong way to be thinking

    I live in western Iowa, and I've hunted in Illinois, Ohio, Kansas, Nebraska, and Northern Missouri over the past 30 yrs. Ur data is dead on with all of those states, and here in Iowa. I have always seen the most big bucks from Nov. 5th through Nov 9th. Those 5 days are definitely the best in my opinion to see the biggest deer.

    Hey Matt, always appreciate your info. I wonder about one thing. Times of day? Is it possible for you to narrow down the times of day. I know it's a lot of work, not saying it isn't. It’s funny I have that graph pic in my photos! I’m in central mn- wondering when you see the 5yr plus bucks in daylight? From what Iv seen hunting Halloween is kinda the cutoff then its all the younger ones tearing around- personally I find success Oct 25-30th ballpark for shooters to be cruising! Thanks for the info I will share it!

  • @jasonmeyer4587
    @jasonmeyer4587 10 месяцев назад +1

    I always wondered if the daylight slowdown in October was due to a full moon. Seems like there is an October lull before things fire up to that hot time around the last of October into full rut.

    • @northernforestwhitetail
      @northernforestwhitetail  10 месяцев назад

      I personally do see the “October lull” as a real phenomenon. I know there are a bunch of theories and debate on this. But there is definitely a slow down in the total number of daylight bucks I get on camera. It’s as though bucks get less comfortable in daylight in late September and early October.
