    Hi guys
    if I was chucking singles it would either be the white or the pink on a Ronnie rig.
    If I was fishing the canal I would fish a longer 14” coated braid size 8 hook slip D on a yellow wafter 12mm. The other rod would be a 10” size 6 hook Ronnie rig with a pink 15mm pop up. Each rig would have had a pva mesh bag to protect the hook and my lead choice would be 2oz so it didn’t bury in the silt.
    Maybe next time you could use chop worm, maggot, corn, pellets and chops on a baiting pole ?

    From experience, back leading under your rod tip on a canal isn't going to pin your line down to stop boats picking it up. That's because the depth profile of a canal is like a flattened U shape. Basically, hours back lead is in shallow water. You basically need your back lead beyond your near margin shelf.
    I also find baiting up for a few days is very important. Canal carp can be quite nomadic. If you bait up for a week, they will find it, and keep coming back to that spot.

    • @TheFishingBloggers
      @TheFishingBloggers  10 месяцев назад

      Three boats passed over the lines and all was good 👍 pre bait will be beneficial on any venue, but time restraints don’t allow us that option!

    If you're using flying backleads and backleads you should be fishing tighter lines, especially when you're fishing tight up to the opposite bank... having your swingers sat on the ground doesn't give any room for dropback indication👍

    • @TheFishingBloggers
      @TheFishingBloggers  10 месяцев назад +1

      Bite indication was spot on, the bream made the bobbin dance more than Patrick Swayze 🕺 if a carp picked it up it would bolt left or right so would have just had a blitzing run!

    • @MartinWale-x7u
      @MartinWale-x7u 10 месяцев назад +1

      Or run towards you = no indication. I always use running leads on canals and tight line through a back lead. Far, far more sensitive. Don't understand the obsession with fixed leads. Also (I've caught hundreds of canal carp) big 20 mm air dried baits for me - doubles either snowman or bottom baits on simple hair rigs. There is no need for Ronnie's, Spinners or over complicated rigs on the cut. The fish have most likely never been caught. These baby pop ups will just result in bream! Summer time, mesh baits or shrink wrap, as the crays will destroy soft baits. Definitely no pellets!! Enjoyed the video. Wish more cut content was made

      @@MartinWale-x7u similar to my thinking (Shaun) I prefer bigger baits to single out the carp, Hugh is much more happy with smaller baits, but that’s just a confidence thing on his part. Thanks for watching, glad you liked it 👍

    Pink or orange 🍊 just a standard hair rig with a ssg shot 2 inc up the braid on it to pull down hook when fish picks it up
