Fantastic mate. I moved to Scotland 2 years ago, just outside of Glasgow. I’ve had the hump for a while because carp fishing isn’t a massive thing in Scotland, so I just wasn’t going out at all really, a few trips out on Loch Lomond for the pike and perch, but nothing that was really hitting the spot like carp fishing does. Then I found out that there’s the odd carp in the Clyde and Forth Canal which isn’t too far from my house. I’ve not started an actual campaign yet because I’m just a bit busy with work 🚑 and renovating a 200yo cottage, but my time will come. I’ve heard that people average 4 bites a year, hard going…but I’d love to give it a proper go sometime. Ben Mir had the Scottish record carp from the same canal back in 2016, so there’s gotta be some unknowns knocking around (maybe 🤞🤞). Great stuff and well done 🎣👌
Well in Henry, quality video! The mystery of the canals is special....nothing even comes close. Lakes are lovely but there's no mystery anymore, everyone knows what's in them and they've all been out so many times. You've made me want to target canals this year now!looking forward to more videos like this👌🎣
Love it, Henry. we need a campaign video. I fish my local canal in the UK. I've had my pb mirror of 34lb 5oz. I'm always think of the place it's got a grip on me
Fantastic vlog Henry what a carp that was, it’s mad you never know what resides in these waters what a buzz congratulations, was wicked meeting you and having a chat at the Essex carp especially about the canals in Belgium
@@henrylennon3637 certainly were, not another angler in site. Some stunning carp but nothing huge. Mid-Twenties, but this was back in the 90s so decent locally. Tight lines
Did you have any insider information? I'm living close to the Albertkanaal, have some idea where to fish during summer, but during winter? One of the more difficult canals in Belgium.
Either 6ft 3lb for just fishing the small canals but if I was also going to be fishing the larger shipping canals, then 9ft 3.25lb would be more suited :)
It’s nothing different than catching a pond pig in the uk if someone tells you the canal and stretch where the fish is , you knew it was there , you knew it was a linear , you say people in the uk say French fish are ugly , but this linear isn’t , it’s only a wild capture if you go in blind .
I only knew it was in there as my friend had caught it after I had told him about the venue. I think the fish can be considered wild if they were not stocked into a venue with the intention of being fished for. I think it makes them a bit different to a stocked fish in a UK day ticket lake, but not that it matters. I was really happy with the capture 😁👍🏻
@@henrylennon3637 If you feel it fulfilled your goal that’s great . But you got told it was there , yet you hide the location ( rightly so in my opinion) but anyone wanting to emulate your achievements will have to use water craft to find the fish . I’ve caught from over 30 public waters in France , and what I find is each year is that access is becoming more and more difficult, associations are reducing night fishing and locals are very often getting anglers checked out by the authorities. I put a lot of this down to the increasing number of RUclips videos , and the number of carp anglers who think they can just turn up fish where they want , park where they want , and ignore local rules . Places I could access are now blocked off , some legally others by locals protecting their waters and swims . You in this video have a ‘run in with Garde de Peche’ , were you in the right or somewhere you shouldn’t be . Even famous international anglers do no research the rules on public waters and think it’s funny to behave like children on the bank . Others sit on venues for weeks denying locals a swim . Many don’t realise the fishing associations and their chairmen are very powerful elected positions , and with the rise of predator fishing particularly float tubing the competition for access and therefore representation can lead to a situation like Cassien where night fishing is now banned because a predator angler got elected. Salagou is now heavily restricted . So my gripe : glamourising public water fishing has a knock on effect , and perhaps in videos you and others, in the industry , could point out what is required to fish responsibly in Europe especially on public waters . Tight lines . Apologies for the long winded rant . Possibly some jealousy as well as my only French linear was just scraping a double 😉

@@henrylennon3637 it is and I’ve heard and seen them big if not bigger, there’s a rumour of a 35 caught a year or 2 back same stretch,I was put on to the canal near me by a well known guy who had a 43 out of a public but dodgy lake a few years back he’s local to me and a bait maker

Sounds like a cool adventure. Any fish from that canal would be a huge achievement so good luck for when you get started on there!
Congrats Henry, perseverance, dedication will always pay off! Cracking fish and wonderful story! Cheers
Thanks mate! :D

Well done Henry, top dangling and a mega lin. I grew up fishing the Somerset Level drain network for carp - cracking memories ❤

That lin is a HUMDINGER 💣 , Quality angling mate
Thank you mate 😁👍🏻
Sick little video mate 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed! Appreciate the kind words :)
Awesome Common 😮
Sweet video henry !
Its exciting on the rivers / canals. These commercial places kill carp fishing in my opinion.
Agree to an extent. They have their place, but they are no comparison to the wild waters. Thanks for watching! :)
@henrylennon3637 everyone liked different things which is great otherwise the rivers and canals would be rammed ! Keep the videos coming dude 😁

Great video, Henry's Linear was 50lb 2oz.
That Lin! Sorry…commenting as I’m watching 😂
🎣🎣 Big h pulling out the stops, no sign of Dan 😂
Hahah he was on a few trips with me! Hope you enjoyed watching :)
nice fish Hsnry🎣
Thanks Adam 👊🏻
Which Scopes would you choose for this style of fishing if you had to choose one?

Canels are awesome takes alot of time but the rewards are amazing a friend of mine caught the record of the year at 31 kg (almost 70lbs) 69.5 lbs
Wow, that's huge! Well done to your friend :)

Hi Henry great video..any recommendations on which canals in france to fish...any help would be appreciated
Why is most of the audio missing just music?
Don't know mate, it seems to be fine when I'm watching it. What part of the audio is missing? The bit when I 'm sat in front of the bivvy?
