Love smoked tailor dip. I’ve been making a dip after my annual trip to Fraser for years. Can eat tailor for longer after returning home if ya smoke it AND make a dip, it’s so delicious. Little camp smokers do a great job, and they’re cheap.

16:06 as far as water goes for cleaning up try to keep weight off the roof, more kilos on the roof is creating a higher centre of gravity in your car and can lead more easily to 4WD rollovers, a vehicle should slide in a sharp turn rather than tip over. EBay has 12v pressure pumps for about $20 (the same ones caravan outlets sell for $180) just connect it to a 20L water container on the floor in the back with a hose and a tap, turn the tap on and the pump starts. A fun weekend project. 😅 or you could just gravity feed a 20L container out the tailgate with garden hose fittings and drinking water hose, keep that container on the floor for the lowest centre of mass for your car. They put a bitterness agent as well as the colour in metho to try and avoid consumption.

Yum. Smoked Taylor is one of my favourite. Save yourself work and mess and leave the scales on. Smokes better too and skin peels easily. Also, a couple of hours dry brining in sugar and salt is ideal-seasoning and flavour penetrates deeper and it improves the texture.
    Love ya work Rod.

Rod, you are an absolute top notch gent. Such a good hearted soul you've got. Of course we all have our qualities and weaknesses but few people can maintain their integrity, heart, and smile through the good and bad the way you do. Don't focus on the negatives too much, they'll always be near and are not worth the thought invested in them by the few good ones out here.
Ps. Still waiting to get you out on the water out here in LA. The boat's always ready and waiting for ya when you make it back out to the states. Thanks for the great content as always, bruddah!

15:45 Getting a stainless steel 'soap' bar (legit just a soap-shaped piece of stainless steel) from bunnings would probably be a good idea, it gets rid of the fish smell from your hands and would probably save you a bunch of water that you'd otherwise use to wash your hands. I've tried all kinds of soaps to get rid of fishy hands after fishing, and none of them work as good as the good ol' stainless steel soap, and it'll last you your whole life.

Dinkumrometor was going off with the pluggers on the rocks in that sloppy weather 🇦🇺 love the work and dedication to a feed mate. If you don’t mind me offering a little constructive criticism, my only piece of advice would be to use table salt instead of flake/rock salt as you get a more even spread on the fish, on top of that once you’ve salted and sugared it leave it sit for a couple of hours before smoking. You’ll notice the salty sweet taste will penetrate it a lot further.

They look similar to our Bluefish off North Carolina's coast. My first one was 45yrs ago when I was 12 and I didn't see the teeth because of the thin lip they have that cover the teeth. I lipped him like bass and laid my thumb wide open. If your fish are like the Bluefish here, they're not very good for regular cooking cause they're really greasy but they're really awesome when smoked.
