Great sound for HO sized speakers, and wonderful scenery but, what?! No smoke? C'mon over to the three rail O scale world, and we'll show you some smoke, all belched out by micro fans, and timed to a prototypical four chuffs per driver revolution! It's truly sublime. And the sound! It'll blow your eardrums out. Try it sometime, you might like it. I know, I know, the couplers and the flanges are out of scale, and what about that nasty unrealistic center rail? I get it, but geezers like me receive some kind of guilty kick out of the secretive nostalgic connection with the pleasure we had in our formative Lionel years so long ago. 😁🐻🇺🇲
All good natured kidding aside, the hobby is a big tent with room enough for everyone, from serious rivet counters to the oversized kids who love tinplate standard guage prewar toy trains with their brightly lithographed colors. Its one big wonderful hobby where imagination is encouraged and embraced in all quarters, and the ability to re-create the world the way we think it should be, not the way it is in reality. For me it's a way to revisit the simpler more wholesome world of my youth, a world where trains were an essential ingredient of the economic life of virtually every community in North America, and the best way to travel with steam locomotion to Grandma's house in a distant state.
Congratulations on a beautiful layout with evocative trains of another and now more romantic era. Forgive me for waxing nostalgic about the joy model railroading in all its permutations brings to us. 🐻🇺🇲

you can get smoke with HO but it's not as common because of the size
