Commercial Trawler as an AFFORDABLE Liveaboard Cruiser? [Full Tour] Learning the Lines
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 июл 2023
- This is a Custom, Nova Scotia built commercial-style trawler meant to be used as a coastal cruiser. The builder, Deschamp and Jackson (now out of business due to owner age/health) based out of Lunenburg, typically built commercial vessels, and this boat is in a similar style to those fishing boats.

I love these boats. They are very good when the weather turns nasty. They have big rudders and a keel, so they handle well and track straight and true. They are very fuel efficient. They don't have much air draft, so you can fit under many places But there are some things that makes the skipper (and especially not the skipper's wife) the only one who appreciates them. They are more like camping on the water than modern pleasure boating. They are slow. Examples like this with dry stack exhaust are pretty loud. They are work boats, so the space on board is usually reserved for deckwork and cargo. The heads and gallies are an afterthought. Bunks are minimal, if there at all. I've never seen one wih air conditioning, I think the grates you saw were for a cabin heater from the heat exchanger on the engine, But for the simple joy of running a boat at sea, they are awsome.
Looks like a great loop boat for a solo cruiser or a minimalist couple!
Although I am a sailer and own a Dehler 37….I absolutely love trawlers and will get one when I can no longer sail. Your videos are excellent and a very useful quite to the variety of boats out there. Much appreciated. ⛵️
1:57 them two chrome horns are fer the spare anchor
This type of repurposed workboat/ yacht is very common here in Maine, when things get wet and sloppy simplicity it king. So nice to steer under glass. The only downside, in my limited experience, is engine noise. After several hours the sound of the machinery will cause a type of stupidity to settle in wherein the only relief is the sound of the anchor splashing. The 32 footer we had was efficient, fuel cost was incidental.
VERY COOL...YES , STAY WITH COMMERCIAL/WORK STYLE BOATS..
Having all different types of boats is cool.
i like quirky boats and this boat is cool , the aft deck could be fixed up to be very comfortable and set up for 4 seasons
I like the boat, the variation in boats. I like the price, style and this trawler appeals to me. I like yr channel, what you are doing and the boats that you show. I like your videos just the way they are.
.....while I have followed your reviews of various boats...I love the North Star review and can only dream of cruising in such a beauty.....
i really like this boat, thanks for the tour
Excellent vessel for that 50mile off shore range, and decent fuel economy. A tank can get a couple days travel or work . Cruse at 8 and steam at 12. We'll balanced
I have a similar style vessel about the same size too.
Always looking for another conversion trawler to sail west into lake Ontario from the East Coast.
This one is tastefully done with work boat vibes. A shipwright carpenter could finish that up nicely. Details count when it comes to conversions.
Personally, I'd take the head out from the v-berth area. Open the v-berth up.
Extend tha cabin aft and closer to the lazarette. More space for a head and storage.
You can then move the fridge over to the galley kitchen and have a nice setee on the portside that breaks down for a bed.
Just my 2 cents
I like this boat alot.
Good video well spoken thank you
5:32 that is the lesert. Where the rudder box and shaft packing boxes are
6:25 the lesert must be water tight from the outside. You need the appropriate key to unlock the hatch
Love you're videos. I've been watching on and off for a while now. Whatever happened to that trimaran project you were working on? Corsair?
For 24 ft it's nice little boat . Like you said needs a little paint on the deck and solar on the pilot house .
It's 34 feet long.
Very nice
You should focus on making minimalistic boat videos such as this phone excellent job I keep referring to this video
I'd buy that!!
I like it.
It would make a great solo live aboard boat with the option to bring a woman or a couple of buddies for a weekend Bahama Beer run! Only thing someone should change is the mini fridge. Replace it with an apartment fridge with separate freezer and add a microwave and a kegerator and you're good to go!
Are those galvanised elbows on those threw holes.
I like it
those stainless rack look like a place to store a paddle board but storing across the bow would be far from ideal and likely not wide enough..
No ac or cabin heat ? But hey it has a John deere motor
nice
Would of liked to of been able to see down in the cargo area. Would of been nicev to know if you could turn it a aft cabin! Otherwise Great videos love them ty
would have
Those little bars sticking up are probably flag anchor points?
this boat is around 50% out of my price range. whats the cheapest size would you recommend for a trawler or yacht to coast cruise to the caribbean and budget live there on the boat for say 6 months?
Hull material?
Very cool
Nice boat how much are they asking ?
Nice. Hydraulic steering.
Compared to the 1989 ROSBOROUGH also on brokers site this is rather more unloved. It also looks to have a lot of homedepot type fittings and fixtures inside.
I know they say 'john Deere' engine but it looks a lot like a 'Ford Lehman' to me ( good engines that John Deere probably used in their tractor).
Build looks very much owner built.
Cheers Warren
I can't find any info stating that but John Deere has used a variety of engines including Cummins and poof, the other major engine slid below the surface of my mind.
Is how much where can I get it
How does she sleep four?
Here in Thailand she might be swamped offers.
What is the sail price .?
80 grand, it is in the description 🎉
Did you misspell sale on purpose?
@@DougVarble Canadian grand, that is 500 US.
@@neondemon5137 no just an error on my part
5:43 now this stoage would be a spot to put fish or things. Most timsles . Fish is held on deck. And the deck is much closer to the water line for lower center of gravity
I’d usually use it for my gun rack.
Found a 36’ commercial trawler to live aboard conversion that is almost exactly like this one but with a ton of upgrades including a full solar package. All for $15k. I’m sorry but $80k is ridiculous.
Not for $80K
Canadian. So it's about $60k in freedom units.
@@sockeatinggolden8316 Not even 20k I wouldn’t want to listen to that diesel all day right next to me for starters. Also I would want twins not a single and so much space is wasted because it was a working vessel conversion. Now these are just my opinions on what I saw and what I would want
$80,000. Hello. Not
this is way way too expensive, like 2x the price it should cost.
Weekend warrior boat. But not a sailboat. If you want to shoot power boats and trawlers, consider starting a separate channel for that and keep the sailboat tours focused on sailing vessels. Just my opinion on the subject.
Pretty nice boat... but it's a shame you don't know more about the boat. How wide it is and some more. Which engine with engine data. Fuel tanks? How big? Water tank?
Without seeing how big the space is under the stern canopy, you can't say anything about rebuilding it. Better that you get more information yourself before posting it online.
80 canadian......uh nope sorry
Wickedly overpriced
Everyone seems to be too polite to tell you but since your move North your videos have lost much of their appeal.
Bollicks, just keep scrolling and watch something else
A lot of the recent videos we've put out were filmed in Florida. Why does it matter where we live?
Well his wife is absent. Due to being a mom and such. Just having a second person guiding the tour made it feel more exploration type video and less informative. But I still like the feel of the videos now, the vibe is different, but not bad having a partner with ya has made the feeling different. Not bad, just different.
We've been debating trying to make it work with her coming back into the videos, but until the kids are a little older we don't think it's worth it. Right now she's doing 90% of the editing instead.
Let me guess . . . single? Or not yet?
Make an excellent loop boat for a couple, but probably not for our New Zealand waters.
