I would argue that some things the game doesn't explicitly explain. However, when the video talked about "Boost Drifting" didn't actually explain how to do it so mentioning it doesn't actually help. The Coding Zeta I would argue that you haven’t played very far into the campaign at all if you haven’t learned how to boost drift yet. Maybe just play the game before making assumptions. Clickbait
@@mikeoxlong1356 I wasn't making assumptions. I admitted that I haven't played far enough into the game. I also stated that this video didn't even explain how to boost drift. So even if the game didn't, the video failed to fill in this point.
@@piedude67 Biggest issue for me is the mouse disappearing. I'm a stickless keyboard guy with a moba mouse, so my solution has been to map as many freaking buttons to that mouse as I can conveniently do so, mainly the power controls. Pretty happy with it so far. Also, I was above the cockpit during the pre-flight check for the second mission so... yeah. It was weird so I unfortunately had to skip the cutscene.
Love it or not, you've got to commend the devs for bringing some depth. I really enjoyed playing the Star Wars Battlefront II original ship combat levels so this might just be my thing, again.. having suffered with some Star Wars games that didn't hit the mark for a number of reasons.
This game is the most frustrating bullshit I've played in a while. Why does flying something as fast as a TIE fighter feel like a goddamn tank? The level of maneuverability (or lack thereof) is absolutely atrocious. I will definitely be sticking to BF2 with all the joy in the world.
Yo check this, from the first time I had seen the cover art for this game months ago, until now. I have always thought that the person on the cover looks like a light skin Michael Jackson, like this game is gonna be Captain EO 2 the game or something.
Is it on purpose that the video shows one either not following the tips or just doing bad? While shield orientation is explained the footage shows the opposite of how it's right lol
This video does a horrific job of showing you what's it's talking about or telling you how to do things it says you should do. Like boost drifting... The video never tells you what to press to do a boost drift. It never explicitly shows you what it looks like when you boost drift. It never shows you various situations where a boost drift could be useful. Pretty much this video was "here are some things about squadrons you should google yourself and try to find the answer to."
Can I move the throttle. That's where my issue comes in. When turning. I accidentally turn my throttle down and don't realise until I'm getting peppered or see a reference point
Simulation would be a better word here than recreation. Recreation makes it sound like it's either based on a real-world experience or that the gameplay is a recreation of an earlier game. Just say simulation.
Too bad there is no aft radar like in the old games to see who is following me at what angle to attack so that I can evade better. I also don't like the targeting reticule because it does not stand out against the HUD displays to improve one's aim at a target.
I certainly think a controller is more fun. You may have slightly increased accuracy with a mouse, but I think it is way more fun and feels more like you are piloting a ship when you use the controller
When I do an attack on a capital ship here’s what I do divert to engines till the turrets start shootings then go to shields then weapons to do some damage then shields then engines again drift boost and repeat until you die or object is complete
It’s pretty broken for VR right now. It works but you’ll see crashes and errors frequently. It’s so fun though, so I hope they roll out some fixes soon.
Here's something they don't tell you: the Aviator control layout (pitch/roll on the same stick) is BROKEN! Pitch+Roll speed is super slow when you assign pitch and roll on the same stick, but it's full speed when assigned on different sticks.
No strafing.. No gimbal lasers.. This game is quite an anti-climax for space battle fans. All you do in this game is 1 dimensional. Leave it to EA to make a game so casual that it's actually a step down from it 19 year older predecessor "Rogue Leader". Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike are both more complete games than Squadrons. Missed opportunity.
I have to disagree with you. Those things are all cool mechanics, but strafing is hardly existent(if used at all) in the SW universe. And second, there are some gimbal weapons that have less damage than their locked equivalents. I think that this game has plenty of actions for the pilot to perform, and it feels like you are in a star wars ship. I feel like what you are describing is something like Quill's highly maneuverable ship in Guardians of the Galaxy, which is certainly cool, but definitely doesn't fly like an X-wing. I think the variety of weapons and potential to use power management and other systems effectively gives this game high skill potential and I certainly wouldn't call it casual.
@@torrust17 It needs some equivalent to these so that it's possible to do an engine-kill and instantly rotate around. Currently, you cannot orbit around objects to shoot them but only do "fly-by's". We have also seen gimbal lasers in the movies so we know they exist. And we've seen Poe Dameron's maneuvering which is also impossible to do in this game. What may bug me the most is that you can't avoid getting hit when you face an enemy frontal. Because everything is 1 directional. That's where strafing comes in handy and why I call these controls too basic. Rogue Leader is such an old game and it still feels more polished than this. But I guess it's just me because the game gets pretty good reviews overall.
@@RadioactiveGoose Hmmm, I do agree to a certain extent. To me, the boost-drifting system seems like a good balance between full strafing and none. Though they are spaceships, I would say that fighters in the SW universe fly(and look, in some cases) like modern jets. And modern jets have little to no strafe capability but do have the ability to do some sort of "boost drift", if you'll call it that. Despite all that and my previous comment, I would be more than happy to see some additional flight options/strafing. I love flight and flying games(as I'm sure you do as well) and I could certainly do with some more complex controls. But I do think that it would take away from the star wars feel a bit(cause honestly, despite being in space where there is so much potential for movement, they do pretty much fly 1 directionally the whole time) and make it more difficult for newcomers. As far as gimbal weapons, there are some in the game. I know the y-wing at least(and probably the Tie bomber) has an ability that activates an automatic gimbal weapon. I think it would be very cool for them to add more gimbal weapons, but I'm not sure how it would be implemented. In the SW universe, I believe the idea is that a second pilot fires the gimbal weapon while the other controls the craft(as it used to work IRL). The game has an automatic targeting system gimbal(as it currently works IRL).
The first one is false. Being a turret is a legit MP strat apparently. Just park with your rear up against something and turret camp your way to a decent K/D ratio. Everything else the game literally tells you.
