- The BRAND NEW Campervan You've Never Seen Before!
New Volkswagen Transporter T7 Campervan or is it a Ford Transit Custom - It's not the Ford Nugget, but it is built on the same platform.
The Caravan Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC in Birmingham will feature lots of great new products, gadgets and accessories. The Feb show doesn't feature as many campervans as the October show, however Bespoke Ni not only are taking their current range of VW Transporter T6.1 Camper vans, and their new Volkswagen Crafter Camper, they will also be revealing for the first time the brand new next generation caampervan built on the Ford Volkswagen alliance.
This van is built from a Ford Transit Custom, with the VW Transporter T7 variant to follow in the future.
The van will be NCC approved, whole vehicle type approved and be approved from the base vehicle manufacturer.
Although this is a prototype still being developed, its not far off completion and contains some new components specially developed between Bespoke and the product manufacturers.
Pop top roof products developed with SCA, Reimo and Austops and a new seat bed system from RIB. This isnt the RIB Uber Flux (Or Uberbus flux) it's a new product, which solves a previous problem some people said this bed has.
New gas products are being developed, a touch screen LED control panel which does more than just turn things on and off. It has 12v electrics, 240v system, water, cooking, heating, fridge freezer. Im looking forward to seeing this van develop.

I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.
I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which will be removable, TV's on headrests.
Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.
Vanlife is amazing, get out and explore, it's a great adventure.
There are many great camper adventures to come

Great initial look! We’re excited to see the follow up video!
Thank you. I want to get my hands on that control panel 😁
Been saying the custom is a better base camper van than a vw but now it’s the same as a vw so if you can’t beat them join them!!😂
🤣 It’s going to be really interesting to see how they both sell and also how the residuals stack up
Think the vw will be slightly more expensive at launch but will probably have a higher trim level & hold its value better.
That's a lovely Ford transit van 😊
Yes 🫣 Interested to see how dissimilar the VW will look
@StaycationLifestyle probably just a bit squarer lol
Cool interior shame exterior isn't. The T6/.1 still looks far more sexy
Looking forward to seeing what the new T7 looks like out of the camouflage. It will no doubt be the aftermarket body kits that separate it from the Transit
Eco 2.0 beware the wet belt…
That’s very true. I would be more interested in the petrol hybrid
What day you going NEC?
I will be there Thursday and Friday
It just looks like the same old, same old side kitchen layout. I would rather some interesting use of the space the way they manage in small caravans.
It’s such a low head height that’s the problem. Start putting head height units up and it limits head room and floor area accessible.
It’s a challenge and not an easy one.
@@StaycationLifestyle It is challenge, but some are achieving it. I know it is horses for courses, but the moment I see this layout I know it's not the van for me
Can you give an example of a layout that achieves it?
@@StaycationLifestyle Hillside Cromford
Good shout, it is a decent layout. Built on a bigger van as that’s LWB.
I showed a few of those layouts in the Best Campervans video from the Nov NEC show
The ford engine will be the biggest problem, and put a lot of people off them
That certainly is being talked about regarding diesel. I’m keen to see what the petrol hybrid will be like
Would the Dual mass fly wheel problems put you off a VW?
Last week I changed the wet belt on my 69 plate custom. 110k on the clock.
No debris in sump, pick up pipe and zero signs of cracks or shredding on the belt.
I wouldn’t even say it was a difficult job.
With the amount of vehicles sold for both ford and Vw there are obviously going to be issues with some and ford have had some. I’m sure the wet belts have been upgraded on the production line along the way.
I will say also that the VW snobbery that I’m seeing with this collaboration is unreal.
It’s as if the Transporter has never had a problem.
That is most definitely not the case.
Can you please explain what you believe the advantage is of having 'Motor Caravan' on the V5. This is something you mention again and again in your videos, but, in the context of a campervan, it is irrelevant to insurance and speed limits and, for campers over £40k (i.e. almost all of them), a 'Motor Caravan' classification would attract significantly higher VED charges for the first 5 years.
It’s able to legally travel at “car” speed limits. Without the need to contest.
Insurance wise is complicated, however as a “motor caravan” it is indeed that and not a panel van with modifications. Some insurers will insure a “motor caravan” but not a converted van.
A commercial vehicle requires a commercial vehicle policy, whereas a registered campervan is a leisure vehicle.
It is deemed a big positive for some, you only have to read the forums and see how many people ask how they change it.
With the talk of insurers shying away from panel van conversions, then this will be even more appealing
I thought the VED charges had been reversed now?
@@StaycationLifestyle If a vehicle meets the criteria for a "motor caravan", as defined by The Motor Vehicles (Type Approval) Regulations 1979 (Regulation 2), then car speed limits apply regardless of the body type recorded on the V5. Yes, a very small number of camera systems automatically issue FPNs for speeding based on a vehicle's V5 classification, but such FPNs are rare and are easily rebutted. Regarding insurance, this is a red-herring - for a short period after the DVLA capriciously and arbitrarily changed the rules regarding reclassification, insurers struggled to catch up. This is no longer the case and the "forum chatter" you refer to is based on ill-informed people still believing reclassification is meaningful and necessary (a myth that, ironically, you are perpetuating).
@@thesmudge1353 The surcharge for vehicles costing more than £40k (the so-called "luxury car tax") is still in place. The supplement is set at £390 for 2024, but doesn't apply to LGVs (hence my point that having "Motor Caravan" on the V5 would lead to higher VED costs).
I have worked in insurance for nearly 30 years 😀 It’s not chatter.
A modified panel van is not the same as a type approved vehicle.
With regards to speeding, I know many who have received notifications and had to challenge
Go live from the van?
I did actually consider doing that. It’s a possibility
needs to be in orange
The new custom doesn’t have the orange, not in the panel van anyway
guess I will have to wait for te RAC to use the panel vans and convert iot myself🤣@@StaycationLifestyle
@@DNoman-v9f 🤣 or you could repaint or wrap it 🤷🏻♂️
hopefully they will change the cheap not fit for purpose curtains........haha
I do prefer blinds, looks wise. However I’ve not had a problem with the curtains.
It’s on my list of suggestions/ideas 😃
no i like curtains but not ones you can see through when spot lights are on..
i had to change them for better 2 layer ones..@@StaycationLifestyle
@@vanagon1966 that’s not good. Ones I’ve seen have been decent. Blackout the light well.
nope bespoke use the same curtains on all models single cheap thin material.we turned lights off when getting undressed for bed they are that bad @@StaycationLifestyle
ford just hasnt got good build quality compared to there german rivals
Green 😂
I do like Bay Leaf green 🤣 Although to be honest I prefer a slightly darker like the Audi
