Just an FYI… there are video overlays at the end so you can’t read the text you added ( at least I can’t on my iPhone). I am guessing that is what you mean by the end of the video?

I just watched Wild Berry Quilting’s review of this box and you should watch it before you start making the pattern. There were issues with cutting measurements and templates. Since you are new to quilting, those issues would cause frustration for you.

And it is worth a trip to a quilting shop and always look at there clearance section. In order to stay in business they do have sales quite abit. It is worth it to stay close in case you need more. Joan's is the last place I would put in a quilt. The quality is not there. anymore.and I use to shop always there. But the quality is not there. For about 6 years now.

Joann's has started buying Moda which is really pretty good quality. You do have to look to make sure. Lesser quality fabric will not hold up in a quilt however, would probably be great for table runners, pot holders, and things of that nature. Good quality cotten from a quilt store is recommended for the longevity of a quilt. In the past 1800s to about 1960s, the fabrics were much better quality. I still have my grandmother's bedding from the 50s, amazing quality.

Not quite sure why anyone would compare good fabric to Joannes. Joannes fabric is not high-quality I believe that you can get beautiful fabric and quilting store and yes you do pay for it. Most stores though do you have clearance sections online has clearance and you can get great fabric for a very low price. From what I’ve seen of the Mrs. QuiltyI believe that most of her boxes are the same and the fabric doesn’t look so wonderful. She never seems to have the new and upcoming fabrics in any of the boxes but that’s only from what I watch on RUclips. Good luck with your journey with quilting and picking up sewing again I’m sure you’ll love it

I just got my second box, I still havent made anything yet. I'm an intermediate sewist at best, have never quilted so I thought this would be a good way to start. I'm going to give it some more time before deciding if I'm going to keep it or not. There is a small patchwork basket in this box id like to try using my own fabrics. Another review I watched mentioned some editing errors in the booklet. I did notice the project after the basket in mine had the description of the basket again. Theirs said some meaurements were off.

I currently have Mrs. Quilty & Sew Sampler subs, and I used to have a Quilty Box sub until they switched to only paper piecing. I do like the fabric on Mrs. Quilty but I feel they don’t offer as much as the other 2 do/did for the price. I’m going to cancel Mrs. Quilty & try to find another one similar to Sew Sampler/Quilty Box. But I hope you enjoy your sewing. 😊

I grew up watching my mum sew. I had to keep out of the way and she never actually taught me anything.
But I was always fascinated and interested. And, although my mum never quilted, I was in awe of the craft.
Life happened and I taught myself to quilt about 6 years ago, in my 50s( with guidance and instruction from alot of fabulous YTers).
What I'm saying is, give it a go. What you watched yr family members do, is in yr memory. It will flow. Have fun with it.

There are many different levels of fabric quality and as in all purchases you get what you pay for. High end quilting fabric has a higher thread count. Within each fabric company, Moda and Kona included there are different levels of fabric quality. The Kona and Moda at JoAnn's is a lower thread count than that purchased at a good quilting store. I am not saying it isn't good fabric and it does have its place in the fabric world. It just will not be as durable as a higher thread count fabric. Budgets differ greatly from one person to another. I shop at Joann's for some fabric and my local quilt shop for other fabrics. You want your quilting project to last so buy the best quality fabric you can afford, keeping in mind the wear and tear on that particular project.

I don't buy stash building boxes any more. I found I didn't love over half the selections. Personally I never buy pink, orange or purple or super multi-colored flowers, and that's what it was mostly. I'm picky with what I choose in-store so why take chances with stash boxes. I will add I do already have a good healthy stash and have learned what are my style and preferences for my quilts. Here in Canada it is over $22 per meter, so I feel lucky to have enough for probably the rest of my life!

I don't buy fabric from Joann's. I do know that unless you use the coupons, Joanne's is expensive. You mentioned that since you have not sewn a while, you did not want expensive fabric however, subscription boxes seems to be an expensive route to take. First you are paying for notions you probably don't need if your goal is more fabric. Second, you lose your option of choice. At 30 dollars or more per month, you would be better off going to a fabric store and purchase a couple of yards of quality fabric that you do like. Or you can purchase fat quarters or layer cakes. My fabric shop offers seasonal sales and end of bolt sales which is a good time to stock up on background fabrics and backing fabric. Also , consider the amount of time you are putting into those projects. Time is too precious to waste on poor quality fabric.
