Thank you for your honesty! I saw something similar on a review for Mrs. Quilty boxes. And just today my sister mentioned seeing really cute animals by Mrs. Quilty. So I suggested we look up the company, 'cuz I heard some bad things , and sure enough... Thanks so much. You've helped many people.
Thank you for your honesty. I was contemplating, now I know better. I hope you can get your daughter a good pattern and fabric. I Love the poppies behind you. 🎉❤😊
I'm glad I was able to help. I'll let her get into my stash of good fabric and patterns when/if she is ready to try again. The poppy picture is some type of needlework that I rescued from a garage sale. 😊
Thank you, I appreciate that. Hopefully this will serve as that warning or Mrs. Quilty will take it as an opportunity to put things right and create a better product.
Thank you for sharing. What is sad is those, along with yourself, have paid hard-earned money for this "product". This type of scam needs to be exposed.
I agree that is sad. Just to be completely transparent they did send me this box free for review. I feel bad for those who did spend their hard earned money on it though. I've reached out to the company asking that they make things right for those people. I haven't heard anything back yet though.
My personal experience with the Mrs. Quilty box was similar to yours!! They are not a reputable company!! Thank you for going public to save others money for such a low quality product!!❤
There are a lot of fantastic subscription boxes out. If you're considering one check out some of my Sew Sampler videos. Or check out Holly's channel "Dandelion Stitches". She is doing "battle of the boxes" where she compares lots of quilting subscription boxes.
That was the most diplomatic "The fabrics are lousy" I've ever heard. And 1/2" wide blocks? It would be hilarious if it weren't for the frustrations it will/has caused people who just want to make something nice. I hope your daughter won't let this experience turn her off of quilting or sewing in general. Thank you for the update and your honesty.
I always try to be as kind as honesty will allow. I know what you mean 1/2" wide blocks is almost comical if it wasn't something that a beginner might not catch. I'm hoping my daughter will want to try quilting again this summer. *fingers crossed*
Thank you very much for sharing your experience with this box company I was considering ordering it for myself I’m very glad I didn’t and now I’m not going to again thank you very much!!!
I tried Mrs Quilty and gave it 2 months. I was so disappointed with the boxes that I canceled them after I received my 2nd box. I will still be purchasing the Sew Sampler box from Fat Quarter Shop. More bang for your buck with them. Good luck to your daughter and her quilting! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the box.
I did watch another unboxing and I was shocked at how thin the fabric was. Thank you for helping me reinforce my initial opinion. I will not be purchasing Mrs. Quilty boxes.
Mrs. Quilty likely sources their fabric from Temu. So far I have found all my fabric there, sold in the exact same bundles for $5 or $6 a bundle of 8. The fabric is listed everywhere on Temu as 80% cotton, which means I can't use it to mix and match my other fabrics. It also puckers when ironed on a cotton setting, so that's another thing to deal with. I stopped after 3 boxes. The people are lovely, but the instructions are often hard to understand, the fabric is below even the quality I want for a cheap quilt and I would prefer 100% cotton (which Mrs. Quilty claims this is, but it isn't).
I've heard that quite a bit. I might have waited too long to look for the bundle I got on temu but I have seen bundles others received on temu. So I absolutely believe you. I think you're also right that it is likely not 100% cotton. It just doesn't feel like it to me. I've considered doing a burn test.
I’m so sorry that you had to deal with this. I am particularly sad about your poor daughter. Hopefully, this won’t affect her desire to quilt in the future.
I bought this box in the past, I agree with you. I got 3 months worth just to give them a chance but sadly, no. I do not recommend them at all. Templates are paper for one thing, this is not a way to learn to sew nor create a beautiful quilt of your own. thanks for sharing, have a blessed day.
Thank You for the update. Tell your to just forget that day, I’m sure she was aggravated. Mrs. Quilty has a big problem. They put far to much $$ in the book when I could be used for better fabric and making sure patterns are right. 🤗
Thanks! I'm just giving her some time right now. Hopefully when she has more time during the summer she'll want to try again with a better pattern and better fabrics.
That's a good thought, I considered that but I think the spelled out three was referring to the amount of those pieces that need to be cut. If you look at the image of the cut pieces you can see that there are several pieces cut to the same size, so if the written number isn't the number of pieces to cut then that information is missing.
I came here to say this. I think it might have been that there was supposed to be three, three and a half inch pieces and maybe an editor , or something like a computer program that edits English, decided that they didn't want the two threes together. I've worked with word processing programs that will ask you 'did you mean "had had"? did you mean "three three"' I'm guessing some computer program decided it was wrong, and took out the "extra" 3
I found errors in the instructions of the three boxes i got as well and so discontinued my subscription too. I told them about it when i unsubscribed but nobody bothered to reach out. Would not recommend.
For there to be so many errors, I don't think these patterns are written by anyone who actually sews and certainly not tested. I emailed them when I posted this video and I haven't heard anything back yet either.
Have you or do you plan to reach out to them about the errors in the pattern? Maybe they will make the necessary corrections and forward them to you and other customers.
Ok I just sent them an email explaining things and requesting a correction for those who purchased the box. I'll give them some time to reply and I'll make another update to let everyone know what is said.
Dark blues, reds and burgundy’s all do the same temporary darkening when ironed, even in high quality fabric but I think your slippery fabric was broadcloth which is part polyester. It is extremely cheap fabric that should not be in a subscription box. It is not considered quilting cotton even though you CAN quilt with it.
@@terridean4784, yes I've noticed it on some other red fabrics (not as much on blues). However this was far more than I've ever seen before. I mean it was a drastic change. So much so that I was concerned it had started to melt or something. It went from a bright red to dark burgundy. I think it mostly went back to normal but it was outside of the normal shift you usually see.
Many other reputable companies out there. I have been teaching my granddaughter to sew/quilt. I tried Mrs. Quilty also and found the material lacking. I received two boxes before I cancelled it with the same complaints. Since then I have not heard any positives about this company!
You're right, there are so many wonderful boxes out there. How fun to be teaching your granddaughter. I hope you two have lots of fun making memories and quilts together.🥰
I was watching another RUclips quilt person videos and I can't remember which person it was but they said the mrs.quilty fabric comes from temu but I don't know if that's true.
To late for me I ordered my box today hoping mine will be different as far as the pattern I can see error in printing which any quilter would know they left out the 1 before the 1/2 I always proof read patterns because errors happen I'm just hoping rest of box is ok buyer beware and I just took your word but that's my fault not anyone else's will see for myself if not as I like will cancel thank you for the heads up
I'm so sorry this video got to you too late. I hope you have a better experience with them. Just know that if you have a problem that it isn't just you.
I don't believe it is but I could be wrong. After I put out this video some people have told they have found the same fabrics on temu. So I'm wondering if someone is buying stuff from there and repackaging it for this box.
I've seen more than one channel that extols the virtues of this company, and others that say it's not a good company. I will not order from them because I just don't trust them. I'm not sure if they are out of China, but if so, China doesn't really have any type of quality control that I've seen, so I'm thinking they put whatever they have in the fabric, not just cotton.
I know what you mean. The reviews are all over the place. I will say that I think you are right about the fabric coming from China though. I've been told by many people that they found the same fabrics on Temu.
I'd be really curious to know if books they sent out for other months had the same problem. If you check I'd like to know. I sent them an email about it and I'm waiting for a reply. I'll bring that up if you let me know.
Just canceled my box. So disappointed with my experience! Poor customer service, poor fabric, and the rulers markings were hard to read. My daughter finally realized the numbers were on the wrong side and the ruler was blurred like a used ruler.
I see why you don’t have much of a following, we all have bad Times, bad days, and patterns that have mistakes. I think Mrs. Quilting is a decent company for what we pay to get these boxes. Maybe you and your daughter can push it aside and move on
This company is not run by experienced quilters as they claim. Thank you for your comments.
I agree, I don't think they are either.
Very well stated. I agree. They need to have the patterns tested, and the fabric quality is key to any subscription box.
Absolutely!!
Thank you for your honesty. It is good to know when a product has not been fully tested before it is shipped. 😁

Did you do a burn test on the fabric? You can tell very quickly if it is 100% cotton.
I didn't but that's a great idea. If we get a day that isn't quite so windy here I'll try that out and share the results.
How is this test done?
Huge hugs, my friend. I respect your honesty. I wish I could put a warning label on Mrs Quilty. I do not feel that they are a reputable company.
Thank you, I appreciate that. Hopefully this will serve as that warning or Mrs. Quilty will take it as an opportunity to put things right and create a better product.

I did. I sent them an email regarding it and also letting them know about this video the day I put it up. So far there has been no reply.

Wow, not the first time I’m hearing this over time😢
You're right. I've gotten so many people telling me they had similar experiences.
Mrs. Quilty owes an explanation and refund to it's customers.
I feel the same way. I did reach out to them via email regarding that but I haven't heard anything back yet.

@@Wildberryquilting Maybe find just a small house block and she can make a pillow to start for her bed? Just an idea. 😀
@@sharontuch3405, that's a fantastic idea! Thank you for the suggestion. ☺
I think the pattern says 3 1/2 X 3 1/2. They merely used the word three instead of the number.

Maybe you can do a video of the books you have uded and where to get them. Im sure that would help alot.
I normally work from patterns rather than books, unless they are sampler books. I'll think on it and see what I can come up with though.
Thank you for posting this. I was going to order the box but for some reason i waited. I will not be buying this. Again thank you.
Glad I could help!
So 10 days later have they reached out to you
Nope not yet. I tried emailing them the day I posted this video and they haven't replied to that either.
I received one box last year and it was horrible. I canceled!

My red cotton changes color when I iron but goes back to normal when it cools
That's what happened when we ironed it as well. I'm concerned what that means about the fiber content and dyes that are used.
