There is a chance that Amazon change everything for release and this video becomes redundant 😩 but if that happens, I'll simply have to make a new one! Any and all comments/likes/dislikes appreciated to feed the algorithm Gods, friends! Hope you found this guide useful :)
For me the largest / most consistent sources of damage I would take is physical, so I'd go for majority Onyx, maybe 1 or 2 Opals for some elemental defence though. I don't rate the carnelians too highly, if someone has a taunt gem weapon they don't matter.
A number of things in this video are now outdated as of the patch notes that came out 2 weeks before this video. For those that want up to date information read below: 1. The amber gem has been nerfed from the screenshot shown in video from 50% conversion to only 20% conversion on your secondary weapon. September 9th Patch Notes. 2. You don't need to damage a mob to receive XP on the Life Staff, you simply need to participate by healing during the combat. October 20, 2020 Patch notes. 3. BagginsTV's recommendation to stack focus and some Con has been myth busted, there are a number of comprehensive guides out there detailing the diminishing returns when stacking only one skill, even when using conversion gems. The theoretical optimisation for your build involve putting a significant number of points into your secondary stat and con even if you are a pure healer. While I can appreciate you probably wrote the script to this prior to September 9 update, you really shouldn't be putting out incorrect information 2 weeks after patch notes. Correction, in the part you filmed the new world fans site, they had the updated life staff numbers. So you probably filmed all of your on cam stuff after patch notes came out. You either didn't read the patch notes before putting out a guide or chose to put out old information.
False. As the other gems a T2 convert for 20% T3 30% T4 40% T5 50% BUT the scaling for the Amber gem has been reduced by 20% it means that if 10 pts in intelligence for an intelligence gems grants 16,25% extra damage it will grant 13% (16,25 x 0,8) for the Amber that scale with focus. (True number for 0-100 pts after that 1st treshold of diminushing return) Life staff weapon scale only on Focus so if you want the max damage 500pts into it. BUT for bi-stat weapon like rapier to have the same scaling as a mono-stat you have to put 300 in primary and 200 in secondary for max damage. Because of diminushing return. I could give you all the maths if you need it
One suggestion - instead of upgrading "Light Embrace" first passive, I would put that point onto the "3% Mana Regain for Group" passive. Think about it, that could be your second perm buff means you gain another 30% weapon damage heal onto Light Embrace without doing anything. Much more useful in my opinion than 25 stamina.
Not when you are healing in PVP! That only helps people using magic weapons, and everyone uses stamina! It is however good with a group of magic users, but if you run a lot of PVP you want to give people stamina over mana all day!
I chose to tank because its almost always the sought after postion in MMOs for dungeons. So many people DPS, less heal but coming from ESO, where people literally fake being a tank to get past longer queue's, I figured I would give it a shot.
Thanks for this Baggins. Had a similar build in mind for the life staff but after watching your guide I have mad a change or two so thanks for the tips.
Hey there, good guide in general. but i think you missed one VERY important part about the "light and heavy no longer cost mana blah". Since this is not entirely true. You can see that when you're for example at 50% mana and start regening your mana. As soon as you use your light attack, your mana regen pauses for a brief moment before it starts again. This ALWAYS happens, when you're somehow taking away mana from your pool. So the way that "light and heavy no longer cost mana" functions is by removing the mana and then adding it back to your pool. As long as you're full mana you don't see any difference, but if you need to regen mana, spamming light attacks will cut your mana regen by roundabout 50%. Also another question: The lights embrace says "heals for 30% more for each buff your target has". Does buff food like stat food, the health regen from that and in case you're using energizing food for an additional manaregen (stat food first, then energizing) work for that or are buffs meant as temporary buffs like haste, heal increase, fortify etc that you can only get in fight? i'm absolutely not sure if those do count for lights embrace or not. would be nice if you can say something about that. Anyways: thanks for the guide and thanks in advance in case you can answer my question.
Upstriving dedicated healer here! Amazing and interesting video, thank you! Got a little insecure because questing and leveling solo as healer takes some time but you really motivated me to keep going. Also in the future just some healing gameplay in pve and pvp would be very interesting in my opinion. Keep it up
Followed this guide, and managed to finish the level 25 raid req at lvl 22 healer (lvl 8-9 staff) but my mate is the tank This guide helped a lot with the heal
I love playing healer too soo fun to see the green numbers popping like crazy on the screen and all the HP bars getting full really fast like you are the most important member of the team a dps can die it's okay you can keep going a tank dies then a bruiser or a semi tank can try to tank the boss if has a good healer but a healer dies and good luck to win that
Ice gauntlet: If you take the last passiv from ice storm, it disappears on weapon swap (open beta status) Same counts for the 2nd passive from orb of protection.
Good vid. I use beacon, sacred ground and orb of protection. Beacon tank for mobs or boss so all melee get the benefits. Orb third perk again so all melee get the benefits. Sacred generally saved for the oh shit moments to heal fast. Seems to work well, rarely wipe on depths. Still making my way to late game dungeons.
Hey, I was watching your stream and you went over what type of armor to use (heavy, medium, light) to achieve maximum medium armor without going over to heavy armor... all I remember was that it was heavy head, heavy chest, light pants, but I forgot the boots and hands. Hope this is comprehensible lol
Loved your healing walkthrough. Shared this with my company. Would love to know your Ice Gaunt build for secondary weapon and what order you assigned each mastery.
I use those skills as well, and think they work great but also love Orb of Prot and struggle to choose any of the original 3 to swap it for... love the vids and healer info, thanks!
i usually swap beacon out for orb of protection. I figure beacon is the weakest of the 3 and sacred ground is usually enough of an aoe heal that you don't need it. Especially when you hit your mates and they get fortify. I love seeing how tanky my tank and some dps get when I use the orb.
I agree with a lot, but honeslty, taking Orb of Protection early (attack until mob is in range, then while it's melee use Orb of Protection, it hits the mob and then gives you 20s Fortification at 10%), then go for no mana for attacks (you can get away with 1 level without no mana attacks based on testing I did in open beta for speed starts). From there I would get the hot on Orb of Protection and then whatever you want, just respec'ing at 19 for free before you hit 20 for dungeon healing, etc. The start I named just is better for solo, which you likely will be on the beach while making your way to your friends.
rolled a life staff toon... still quite low level [24] since primarily focused on crafting/gathering. seems life staff scales better when you start getting armor with [focus]. equipped hatched around lv10 since 3pc light, 2pc med armor builds are pretty squishy. thanks for tips, especially beyond where i'm at & covering mastery skills/passives. magic/ranged weapon targeting still feels pretty clunky though... and that awful sound effect.
Healing output is based on weapon damage, you only need to go into focus far enough to pick up 20% +healing output, otherwise focus effects your light staff damage.
Not true. Healers want to stack focus. There's no secondary stat. Focus increases life staff healing and damage. You jut said "healing output is based on weapon damage" and then "focus effects your light staff damage". You contradicted yourself in one sentence. Why would you not want more focus lol.
OMG It's Baggins again. Been watching you over the subject of HyperScape but the game was too demanding for me. Nice to rediscover you with different game.
Question: Once you dodge and get the 20% for 5s then cast sacred ground. Do you get 20% more healing for the first 5s, or does it last the whole 15s of SG? As with any and all spells cast during the 5s.
Just had a thought, and I may be wrong. But with putting some points in intelligence to increase damage by 10%, wouldn't that ever so slightly increase the heal from your light attacks as its % of damage? Anyone know?
I noticed in the video you can see health bars all the time. I only see their health bars when I start casting a spell. I have my name plates set to 40 but still don't see any health bars until I being casting.
Have you tried changed field of view angle in visual settings? gives you a little higher point of view, much better for seeing the ground and better for healing imo. Give a try and lemme know what you think.
What gear do you wear early on and what gear do you wear late game? Is staying in Light Armor worth it for the extra 20% heals? do we get 10% if we are in the Medium class and 0% in the Heavy?
I'd wear light armor up until level 25, then start switching pieces over, as this is when your life staff starts really coming online. I went light armor up to 25 then medium up till 35 then heavy for the remainder during Open Beta, and found it worked well for me, you drop the % healing from armor but pick it up again from getting more focus and more life staff levels.
Nice i was trying out Ice gauntlet in open beta i like it a lot for regen wasn't sure what else to grab.in the tree. I always full spec left side life staff i might try out your build see how it feels. PS Void gauntlet sounds cool a focus offhand for us!
Beacon and lights embrace are pretty much essential so I wouldn’t fully commit to the left side personally. Plus, the cooldowns for those other 2 besides sacred ground are just RIDICULOUS
in re to stat scaling did you see a large increase in ouput if you invested in your weapons dps stat? ive read that dps and heal stats scale poorly, and as such con is the way to go because you still do similar damage as if your specced into your weapon stat
There is diminishing returns past 100 points in any stat so branching out is generally worth it, but at a minimum I think you have to go for the 150 focus for the healing bonus. And the diminishing returns dont kick in too hard till the 200's
Do you have another video where you tell more about the ice gauntlet’s skill tree ? Especially the order you would unlock them ? (For this build) I would love to know that ! Thanks a looot for this video, i learned so much !
Removing debuffs is a handy thing for any healer for sure but if someone was to take Enchanted Justice the CD should be reduced by Revitalize for a significant amount. I am assuming that Revitalize always procs on a light attack - if you are keeping up the light attacks as you suggest then Enchanted Justice CD is less of a problem. The question then is whether or not the aura effect is better than the debuff removal ... I daresay in some situations the debuff removal could be a critical skill so, for myself, I'd stick with Mending Touch. I just think that Enchanted Justice could still be viable as long as you can get the light attacks in.
I'm upset that during the beta and the little bit I've been playing now that I never knew u could actually dip into both sides I thought u could only choose from one

All I need is 1-2 light attacks ? Do I get more for killing the mob with only the staff? Seems like I can just light attack it twice, then swap weapons?

Awesome guide....one question...what gemstone do you recommend for clothing (i.e. all carnelian??)
kinda hoping it will be redundant.
Why's that my man?

@@BagginsTV i just hope for 2 changes : sacred ground disappear if you switch weapon & a gravity well nerf. It seems to be 2 realistic things to me.
I hope they let us unlock our group frames and move them closer to the centre! Currently hard to see on the far left, that’s my only concern
Thank you from all healers
Seems like you already maxed your tutorial crafting skill. Very good video.

Love healer content. Thanks for the video!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Great video, definitely going forward with this build.
this is exactly what i was looking for-straight to the point! and informative. ty!!!
Super informative! Changed my approach to healing in NW, ty
FINALLY what I was looking for. Purrfect tyvm dude

Glad you think so!
Thanks mate, I’m dumb I didn’t actually realise I could split my points across both trees.
Same!
Appreciate your time and hard work! This is huge, best vid ive found so far on healing specifically.

Thank you for the Video, and greetings from Germany!
Thanks Baggins!!! Been waiting for this
Solid information I didnt even realize i could hybrid build.
I would like a guide on how to manage the damn hype for this game
Best comment so far 😂 I feel that
This is great stuff bro
Thank you for the info, use to watch your video's on Realm royale. Happy I stumbled onto this one.

Yep, it's heavy head, heavy chest, medium gloves, light pants, medium boots
The no stamina cost for light and heavy attacks really cements the importance of the life staff and healer class.
I was trying to go for a paladin build but I think I will enjoy this more.

i didnt know putting an amber gem on any weapon will scale with focus. huge tip thx
In my view all builds are gonna be viable in New world with the right gear, you can prove me wrong in this.
What about armor ? which one will be the best ? light armor , heavy armor ?

Hello mate, if you can, make a similar guide for tanking. Congrats for this healer guide :p

personally as a healer i place my self cast on the same button as my block i feel anytime i need to heal myself i also need to block,
Could you make a list or info-graphic showing the order you choose weapon skills? It would be a nice reference guide.
Are you still planning to post a video for the Healer/Hatchet set up?
Thoughts.. on the war hammer vs Ice gauntlet.
ótimo vídeo!
in re to stat scaling
did you see a large increase in ouput if you invested in your weapons dps stat?
ive read that dps and heal stats scale poorly, and as such con is the way to go because you still do similar damage as if your specced into your weapon stat
There is diminishing returns past 100 points in any stat so branching out is generally worth it, but at a minimum I think you have to go for the 150 focus for the healing bonus. And the diminishing returns dont kick in too hard till the 200's

what perks i should looking for? as a healer
Do you have another video where you tell more about the ice gauntlet’s skill tree ? Especially the order you would unlock them ? (For this build) I would love to know that ! Thanks a looot for this video, i learned so much !
Hi Baggins , did you change any attributes on the armor , thx very good info on your channel
Removing debuffs is a handy thing for any healer for sure but if someone was to take Enchanted Justice the CD should be reduced by Revitalize for a significant amount. what armor do you use, light or heavy ?
Thx Bro
With a party dont you prefer keep it in light armor to get the 20% + heal buff?
I'm upset that during the beta and the little bit I've been playing now that I never knew u could actually dip into both sides I thought u could only choose from one
What gear are you wearing like stats Focus and Intel can you show?
just thinking what stats you have on armors focus/con, pure con, pure focus or something else im trying out full con gear and all attributes on focus??
What buffs does Light's Embrace benefit from for the extra 30% healing? Target standing on Sacred Ground?
According to fansites and databases.
Over time heals count as buffs.
Therefore increase buff duration does increase the heal duration.
So the answer should be yes.
But you never know if this actually works
Buffs are:
Heals
Fortify
Haste
Empower
for your party - there are two passives you give always, sacred protection that increases incoming healing by 5% and u can pick up the mana regen passive on the protector side. thats 60% more healing. recovery is also a buff, from beacon or sacred ground. food is a buff (so players that eat both a hp recovery food and mp recovery food) that will last for 25 minutes or more. you can also give haste with beacon. that generally puts your lights embrace somewhere around 280% easily (as long as players eat their food).. and even higher if they give themselves buffs like fortify, etc.
@@Ticksatsi1 Oh I didn't know those passives counted as buffs too, that does sound pretty damn strong then
All I need is 1-2 light attacks ? Do I get more for killing the mob with only the staff?
Seems like I can just light attack it twice, then swap weapons?
Can you send build order on the ice gaunlet like you did the staff for this build?
Hi Baggins can you make a video on your keybinds and show us what you are using please? Thank you Sir!!!!
Whats your armor you’re using?
Do Heals Snapshot Buffs? so do you have to dodge before casting or would a Sacred Ground be buffed when you dodge after dropping it?
about weight? Do you recommend media?
Baggins will you play on FAE on launch?
what about life staff and str weapon, do u have any opinion?
How about gear? Light/medium/heavy?
