In fact, it was sometimes seen as a mark of courage and pride for sailors and captains. Captains would prefer crewmen who could not swim for various reasons, possibly because in the event of the ship turning over, sailors who could not swim would stay afloat with the precious cargo while those who could swim would just save themselves. Or possibly because knowing how to swim would just prolong suffering in the event of going overboard, as turning the ship around in those days was far too difficult a task to merit rescuing one or two overboard sailors. A lot of sailors were also from inland areas looking to start a new life. These people would have had no experience with the water, let alone any chance to learn how to swim. Best simple video that I’ve found, this is my first MMORPG like this. I’ve always played games like GTA, COD, Battlefield, PubG, Forza etc more realism I guess, and all the others videos are too much directed towards a audience of people who know about magic and crafting from previous experience. Sinking due to armor weight was actually something you had to think about back in those days. I think Light Armor swimmers would have been bad balance for an mmo.
Dont level trade skills until level 45 unless it's fun for you. Level 45 you will have the bags and level of tools that will let you farm way more comfortably for longer
15:06 Weapon Respec price isn't actually tied to your character level, but to your Weapon Mastery level! If I recall correctly, it starts costing azoth at about Mastery 10 or 12
Still a great video as I just started playing today. My biggest takeaways are the “always craft, always gather tips” and “do things in clusters”. I think where I disagree is since you can respec your stats for free until lvl 20, up to lvl 19 you can probably get away with stat dumping damage and then respecing right before 20. I’m 15 right now and just decimating with the bow. Also GO FOR HEADSHOTS WITH RANGED WEAPONS. It’s like double the damage. Personally I also dumped resources into an early green weapon and green leather armor to match. I haven’t swapped a single piece out for 6+ levels and put dex on them all so I’m 2 shotting most mobs. Will balance and replace likely into the 20s.
Tip 53: You can claim any camp you come across, even if you didn't build it. I see so many camps set up right next to each other, just use an existing camp. Better yet, you can even use a higher-tier camp than you can craft yourself.
About the not swimming part: Apparently in the old days, most sailors (esp pirates) couldnt swim too well either. Also metal armor and a backpack full of iron ore makes it hard. Great tips, will definitely use them!
Great video! Those tips are certainly useful but what I miss in all these type of Tips & Tricks videos is a more detailed explanation of the UI and game systems. Watching you run around and kill mobs is somewhat distracting. New players would benefit more from actually see how to interact with the UI. For example, How do you invite someone to a party when you see that person or when that person is far away. In expeditions does everyone have to run in or do you get teleported in (like in most other MMORPG). What if someone leaves during an expedition and needs to be replaced by someone else. Does that person have to run all the way to the dungeon entrance? etc etc.......
In case it's not obvious to people why you want to craft at your camp instead of in town, at your camp you don't pay crafting fees. Also, you can set up camp near crafting nodes, or near water, or in the zone you want xp in, depending on what you need.
Just to clarify the misconception, most sailors during the age did NOT know how to swim, it's proven by historical record, even during the golden age of pirates most sailors and pirates still did not know how to swim
Thanks for the tips! The whole swimming thing seems ok for me though. I mean just because mmo's decided people wearing heavy armor, metal weapons and a huge sack of god knows what could swim... doesn't make it real :)
Silver nodes are best for flawed gems, Gold is far better for T3 gems but you need to use a food like Roasted Potatoes, Herb Roasted Potatoes or Boiled Potatoes. Using a Starmetal Miner's Charm when crafting a Pickaxe will give anywhere from 2-9% luck to find rare items and paired with the food will yield amazing results.
It's not always economical to "Repair All." Sometimes the cost is more expensive than crafting or buying repair kits or simply purchasing an upgrade. Especially while leveling, you might end up spending money on a weapon or piece of armor you were going to replace for free. Instead, you spent money on repairing an item you salvage an hour later even though it would have lasted, durability-wise, until then.
I think the point is that main quests are few in number. If you are only doing them and not other missions, the time spent running/travelling can be better spent by filling it up with other side quests on the way. It is more efficient than just doing main story alone. That was the point.
big dog you got some good tips here but you're a bit off on some of these: magic weapons are very useful prior to level 35 in both pvp and pve, for their movement or CC; life staff is not a CC weapon so it doesnt benefit from heavy armor, it actually loses its healing potency for medium and heavy armor class; tagging anything including the carapace in corruption events doesnt effect the exp ammount , damage dealt by you personally is what influences your exp/weapon mastery; burnout is the wrong way to put it when doing main story quests, the msq has long gaps, so you should tell people they will run into level walls; you are way off on gems, you can get them from dungeons and mining and they are super useful at every level, roll cancel only works for light armor since light is the only class that gets to roll, you need to tell people about using amber gems in our melee weapons not tell people that they need to mix focus with str, int, or dex; you get more gems from fishing up chests or doing dungeons than mining. Lots of good info, but make sure you are guiding people to corrected info as we learn more about the game.
#53 You can lock items in your inventory with L click on it so you dont accidently salvage it. Like if you use a 3rd weapon or an extra set of gear or somethin
At 8:55 thats not a bug. Stamina will regen slower and you cant use mobility untill it fills out. This mechanic is from souls series and is a punishment if you panic and drain stamina.
I found a GREAT one. Gather till you're grossly over encumbered. Drop items till you're light. Gather more, grab pile, drop again. Once you're happily over weight, waddle to a critter and DIE. Respawn in town. Waddle to storage etc...Found that by accident
Another tip is to spam berserk with the movement speed perk for faster travel, do that with the dodge swap trick and you'll be traversing fairly quickly.
I always use territory cards for storage or gather speed. Even endgame crafting uses T1 items. Such as to make starmetal ingots, you need steel ingots, which require iron ingots.
DId you mention that if you're short of storage.. just put some on the Auction House.. and use that as a storage. If you really dont want to loose the items just put a high price ;)
This definitely helped, A buddy and me just started the game and we are having a blast.. it scratched the itch we had for an MMORPG.. thanks for all the Information.
Only thing I’d say is magical weapons are amazing at beginning way op fire staff heavy atks don’t use mana at lvl 5 and ice gauntlet will crit 800s with less then 90 int
How do you have only one weapon visible in the bottom right? I want my game to look like that but I haven't been able to find a setting for that anywhere, and I checked every single nook and cranny of the settings menu.
For some reason the territory standing cards are all in the same “order”, For example, I couldnt get any trading post tax card, because I always had to chose the storage cap card, both of them always come together…is that a bug or something?
@@sppd100 I think you can have it all though. I saw on steam achievements the town standings goes up to 300. Huge grind but seems like that would let you max every category if you cared enough.
I had to restart on the saturday just gone on a new server due to my OG server being overpopulated and am now level 38 and a half with almost all crafting (except fishing (0), furniture (0) and jewelry (42)) and gathering skills at or just under 100. I literally grab everything I see while mainly doing side quests, I have so far completed all side quests in Windsward (except the fishing quest), First Light, Monarchs, Everfall, and Brightwood and I am just about done with Cutless Keys. Side Quests are seriously good experience plus most of the end side quests of a zone give jewelry which unless you're crafting them yourself are hard to come by. And if you think I have done my main questline, I will tell you my main quest has only just entered Weaver's fen.
Id say don't do the Tier 4 asks... they use some tier 3 to make. Rugged Leather though, have tons, steel or bricks np... precious metal not. The recipes from the town board are mostly not because the spices they need have low drop rates... the low end pots though are easy if you harvest ever mote drop plant or mine node. High end pots only from loot.
Gathering and crafting has been enjoyable for me, more so than the actual game. I’m only 22 but my lowest gathering is 76 in mining - and steel tools are so so so worth it early on
Ya I wasn't sure how useful upgrading tools was actually going to be until I saw the gathering speed increase they give. On top of that the perks you get are very nice. Extra xp and yield early on will really help with leveling professions.
Should be titled "50+ Tips for Fastest/Most Efficient Leveling". For some of us end game isn't the be all end all goal. Skipping quests isn't my thing. Still some valuable tips sprinkled in there, though. Thanks.
There is a compass bug where if you join a group and they have a waypoint placed and do not remove it before the group is dissolved or you leave it it breaks the tracking. Only way to fix this is to relog. Very annoying.
Doubt because it's so easy to take territories. On my server Syndicate is super organized and is winning nearly half the territories easily, but it takes alot of work. Green keeps starting wars continuously do 1 slip up and we lose our money maker.
Thanks for the info! In case anyone can help....I broke myself of keyboard movement (WASD) a long time ago to use my mouse and am used to being able to change camera angle independently. As far as anyone is aware, is there a way to change it so that your camera is not moved automatically with your mouse? I would likely learn to adapt back except for one major issue....I can have issues with motion sickness and it's being set off to the point I have to get away from the monitor or stop playing for a while. I turned off the camera shake one of the first things but for this issue, I've been trying to find an answer and I don't know if I'm missing what this would be called in the settings or it just isn't possible. curious fact - actually, a lot of sailor's on medievel times and around XIV ~XVIII centuries dont know how swin. Joshua Slocum was a famous sailor and he dont know how swin either, XD
Kill Alligator quest in Windsward doesnt work on Alligators in cutlass... I made that experience myself. When you just fish a bit ( only in hotspots with firefly bait wich is super easy to get on from reeds) the fish filets missions are soooo EZ since you will drown in it.
that site doesnt really show where you can farm specific weapons (unless theres no farmable spear/bows/Muskets) but it does tell you if its crafted or not
No22 Buy a house Should I really do it at this point of time because I heard that there will be server moving function this week. So if that things comes everyone would be moving to another servers right? I mean how does it even work?
Nearly every one of these tips is so highly subjective from the point of view of the person who posted the video that I feel it ought to be called "My favorite tips" or something. That said, I did learn one tip from this video that's useful for me: mass deposit into storage. So thanks for that.
I used to play mortal online (another sandbox MMO) I remember nearly drowning Because I slipped into a canal in the city I had full metal armor on and I wasn't strong enough to move in it let alone swim My only option was to take off my beloved armor and swim to the surface Later I dove back down and managed to recover a few pieces (It's worth noting that you drop all your gear when you die In mortal so if I drowned it would have sat in the canal anyway)
A couple of tips that was changed since CBT/OBT, i'd check and make sure some of things you stated are still true. Confused alot of my newer guild mates with misinformation.
4:40 not true, you can just tag enemies but you have to deal a few hits to them at least, i've never had to tag the carapaces or the veils in my factions corruption trains
There were alot of sailors that didnt knew how to swim tho, specially back then (if we are refering to a real time period, that the game is trying to portrait) hehe
The issue with this game is that its all about questing to level up. I would love the game if quests were not so heavily influential in the leveling process, but at this rate you just burn out. Even if you try side quests, its still a quest.

To be fair he did start it but then realized it would put him over his weight limit.
Getting the crock skin special drop is as slow as getting ham hocks... need the next level skinning pots and skinning luck gear... have one piece now from Fens. Mining bears will gang up on you though...
Literally came here to say this lol
For the swimming note: it was very common throughout most of the pre-modern era and prior for sailors to not to know how to swim. Swimming standards only became common place in the 20th century
Another good tip is if u press Alt+F4, together in sequence (this is always missed) it will close the game completely
Best simple video that I’ve found, this is my first MMORPG like this. I’ve always played games like GTA, COD, Battlefield, PubG, Forza etc more realism I guess, and all the others videos are too much directed towards a audience of people who know about magic and crafting from previous experience. But this video was by far the best one for someone who is new to these types of games and for people who have played before. Thanks man. New subscriber here!
Why not show little clips of what you are explaining in each tip instead of showing random gameplay?
It's so much WORK lol
@@slimshady8408 I still think it’s needed for certain scenarios. Again I don’t think every tip! But I’m sure a lot of people needed a visual of how to roll cancel properly. But again this isn’t a how to! Haha
Cause he's in a hurry to push content out before anyone else. Tbh, these tips arent any good but none of them are. I figured out all this on my own like first 30 min. For now we're better off just playing it by ear ourselves for a month or so until the actual insider tips start coming out.
@@LazyDev27 you figured out 52 tips whilst sitting in a queue. well done.
@@johnmadders4051 only problems I’ve had is with this server maintenance lmao, haven’t had one queue since I started so you’re trippin.
I ve played 110 hours so far and still can’t understand why they don’t want us to swim 😂
Easiest way to commit suicide. Which happens to be the fastest way to travel.

Do you have any weapon reccomendations for PvE? I've heard good things about the rapier and hatchet but thats about it
@@markcruz9315 havent tried all spec bc leveling weapon skill is pretty hard atm but i can say hatched - great axe build with light/medium armor is pretty op. Everyonr is waiting great axe to be nerfed like %10. Other than that bow poison build with aoe skills is very common for expeditions(dungeons)
Hatched / sword shield with heavy armor str cons build is best tanking build so far
I havent tried any of magic weapon yet bc i dont like mage ish stuff
Who can swim wearing armor of any type, and cloth robes drag you under as well
Sinking due to armor weight was actually something you had to think about back in those days.
It's easier to remain somewhat hidden inpvp this way
If you group all uses one well hidden camp you can hide how many of ur guys might be in the area
About the not swimming part: Apparently in the old days, most sailors (esp pirates) couldnt swim too well either.
Also metal armor and a backpack full of iron ore makes it hard.
Great tips, will definitely use them!
Oh course they couldn't swim
It's bad luck for any sailor to know how to swim
My #1 tip is: ctrl+s and click to "quick salvage"
Do you also find the water effects in the waterfalls to be realistic?
@@JohnDoe-sw5rj lol
Stay In the starting zones and complete 2-3 full sets of side quests. Then at 30 go to Brightwood and cutlass. Don't go early as it will be tougher.
if you cant find a chest in the area for a plunder mission if there is a well it works as a chest for those quests
13:45 is the most important tip in the video :)
How to make inventory to show actual items gear score with a star? I haven't found such a setting
The Main Story quest usually give more XP than the side quest. TO say they have the worst XP is just plain misinformation.
I think the point is that main quests are few in number. If you are only doing them and not other missions, the time spent running/travelling can be better spent by filling it up with other side quests on the way. It is more efficient than just doing main story alone. That was the point.
How do you show the gear score of your items in the inventory?!
big dog you got some good tips here but you're a bit off on some of these: magic weapons are very useful prior to level 35 in both pvp and pve, for their movement or CC; life staff is not a CC weapon so it doesnt benefit from heavy armor, it actually loses its healing potency for medium and heavy armor class; tagging anything including the carapace in corruption events doesnt effect the exp ammount , damage dealt by you personally is what influences your exp/weapon mastery; burnout is the wrong way to put it when doing main story quests, the msq has long gaps, so you should tell people they will run into level walls; you are way off on gems, you can get them from dungeons and mining and they are super useful at every level, roll cancel only works for light armor since light is the only class that gets to roll, you need to tell people about using amber gems in our melee weapons not tell people that they need to mix focus with str, int, or dex; you get more gems from fishing up chests or doing dungeons than mining.
Playing mmos since 11 (28 atm). Bought New World(Downloading atm) this video helped me to get overall knowledge. Thankies man!
What do you mean tag the carapace or veil? Or channel your azoff staff? Like hit the monster a couple times? I’m level 26 Idk how they look
DId you mention that if you're short of storage.. just put some on the Auction House.. and use that as a storage. If you really dont want to loose the items just put a high price ;)
This was awesome tysm.. I maybe woulda made it to 60 without even noticing I could upgrade my camp 🏕😅
I still can't figure out where the camp upgrade quest is. I'm nearly level 30 and I can't find it anywhere.
This definitely helped, A buddy and me just started the game and we are having a blast.. it scratched the itch we had for an MMORPG.. thanks for all the Information.
Awesome tips man. Some of the best content out there as always.
Geat video. I ve played mmorpgs for 15 yeas and I never liked tutorial videos, but this one actually made me sub.
Do you only have 1 weapon equipped?
Actually I guess that doesn't matter
its better to see both weapons bro, so you can see your cooldowns on the off weapon and switch at the appropriate timing
Great Video! Everyone who plays New World should watch!
For some reason the territory standing cards are all in the same “order”, For example, I couldnt get any trading post tax card, because I always had to chose the storage cap card, both of them always come together…is that a bug or something?
The cards available to choose at each territory lvl are preset. You’ll just have to choose tax over storage if you want it. You can’t have it all ;).
@@sppd100 I think you can have it all though. I saw on steam achievements the town standings goes up to 300. Huge grind but seems like that would let you max every category if you cared enough.
As always thank you for your guides 🤘🏻
You can have a health food and mana food buff active if you eat the food one first.
Most oldie time sailors could not swim - reason, if they fell overboard, they would drown quickly as opposed to spinning it out and drowning slowly.
Storage space + Gathering speed . Those are only 2 you should take. Thank me later
For number 8 at 3:49 what would you consider high level ressources. Tier 3 and higher? Tier 4 and higher?
Id say don't do the Tier 4 asks... they use some tier 3 to make. Rugged Leather though, have tons, steel or bricks np... precious metal not. The recipes from the town board are mostly not because the spices they need have low drop rates... the low end pots though are easy if you harvest ever mote drop plant or mine node. High end pots only from loot.
Did you salvage your unused equipment too ?
13:30 how do you show the gear score that way in your inventory?
Hey, if you haven't figured it out yet, you can choose to organize your gear in bag by gearscore level and it should show the level like that.
@@lucasmota7040 really? Okay thanks a lot
I would disagree on not being a glass cannon if your a magic dps, reason being is 200 int is fairly important for 10 mana every dodge.
I learned something today. Thanks! Nice tip roundup
What are those #46 overworld areas and where to find them?
Gathering and crafting has been enjoyable for me, more so than the actual game. I’m only 22 but my lowest gathering is 76 in mining - and steel tools are so so so worth it early on
Ya I wasn't sure how useful upgrading tools was actually going to be until I saw the gathering speed increase they give. On top of that the perks you get are very nice. Extra xp and yield early on will really help with leveling professions.
I agree to a point I'm having a lot of fun crafting. This weekend I got to mining lvl 175.
Should be titled "50+ Tips for Fastest/Most Efficient Leveling". For some of us end game isn't the be all end all goal. Skipping quests isn't my thing. Still some valuable tips sprinkled in there, though. Thanks.
From 20-40 iv been doing MSQ and Portals. When you jump in with a good squad with like 6 other squads you get some decent gear and levels.
what are portals?
There is a compass bug where if you join a group and they have a waypoint placed and do not remove it before the group is dissolved or you leave it it breaks the tracking. Only way to fix this is to relog. Very annoying.
What does he mean by tag the things for the corruption events?
Really enjoying the New World content. Subbed
wait, guilds can levy taxes for buying / selling? Is this game going to turn out like BDO, where bot guilds own everything and set max taxes?
Anyone know?
curious fact - actually, a lot of sailor's on medievel times and around XIV ~XVIII centuries dont know how swin. Joshua Slocum was a famous sailor and he dont know how swin either, XD
Kill Alligator quest in Windsward doesnt work on Alligators in cutlass... I made that experience myself. When you just fish a bit ( only in hotspots with firefly bait wich is super easy to get on from reeds) the fish filets missions are soooo EZ since you will drown in it.
that site doesnt really show where you can farm specific weapons (unless theres no farmable spear/bows/Muskets) but it does tell you if its crafted or not
Don't put your inn and house in the same town. 2 free fast travel points that way
Great tips bro keep them coming!!
loving the gathering! loving the crafting!
No22 Buy a house
Should I really do it at this point of time because I heard that there will be server moving function this week.
So if that things comes everyone would be moving to another servers right?
I mean how does it even work?
Wait how do the cave look so light to you? its always dark caves for me?
Vulkan what server do you play on?
Just sayin. Vulkan is the BEST NW content creator right now.
Do quests, sell stuff on ah, use good weapons etc etc..
Ya sounds abt right, best content creator ever👌

Im confused, should I go for light armor or not?
Level 55, waiting for that difficulty curve to happen~
Nearly every one of these tips is so highly subjective from the point of view of the person who posted the video that I feel it ought to be called "My favorite tips" or something. That said, I did learn one tip from this video that's useful for me: mass deposit into storage. So thanks for that.
Haha I was just asking myself whether or not swimming was a thing or I sunk to the bottom because of heavy armor. Good to know
I used to play mortal online (another sandbox MMO)
I remember nearly drowning Because I slipped into a canal in the city
I had full metal armor on and I wasn't strong enough to move in it let alone swim
My only option was to take off my beloved armor and swim to the surface
Later I dove back down and managed to recover a few pieces
(It's worth noting that you drop all your gear when you die In mortal so if I drowned it would have sat in the canal anyway)
A couple of tips that was changed since CBT/OBT, i'd check and make sure some of things you stated are still true. Confused alot of my newer guild mates with misinformation.
Do you xp from group members as in say I kill an enemy and my group member doesn’t hit that enemy will they still get the xp from me
What's the armor you're using ? Looks kinda cool
Golden Rage iirc
What are all end game items I need to save?
4:40 not true, you can just tag enemies but you have to deal a few hits to them at least, i've never had to tag the carapaces or the veils in my factions corruption trains
what is Tag the carapaces ?
@@victorh4066 tag means hit something to damage it, like in CSGO if you shoot an enemy for 20 hp you say you have tagged them for 20
There were alot of sailors that didnt knew how to swim tho, specially back then (if we are refering to a real time period, that the game is trying to portrait) hehe
The issue with this game is that its all about questing to level up. I would love the game if quests were not so heavily influential in the leveling process, but at this rate you just burn out. Even if you try side quests, its still a quest.
You can easily level crafting and gathering using the tower board. The high level you crafting and gathering the best the xp
Super helpful info. Thank you.
Thanks for the tips list! Even if some players are familiar with some or most of them, it doesn't hurt to list them anyways.
