    Now to replace that hook with a shackle mount and store it behind the license plate, saving the paint on the bumper and recovery hook. Then you can lose the gorilla tape also. Question: Do these ZEON winches come with wireless remotes or do we have to purchase them separately?

    • @4x4campingcorps
      @4x4campingcorps  2 года назад +1

      All of those changes may be coming in the future!!
      From what I’ve seen with the Zeon winches, is it depends on the package you buy; some have wireless remotes, some are plug in. Be sure to get the one that can operate on batteries or plug in, that way you have a backup plan in case the batteries are dead…

      Hi, yes the metal baseplate is an extra. The best thing to do is have the baseplate and winch ready to install at the same time, then you only have to take the bumper off once. I had to do it twice which created extra work. If I could do it over again, I would have had them both ready.

      Hi Felix, the winch + synthetic line weights approx. 60lbs and the Winch Plate I had already installed (not shown in the video) is about 40 pounds. The total added weight is approx. 100lbs, which didn't change the Jeeps stance or make it lean forward. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the video. Perfect timing since I was in the process of figuring out what package of winch, tow bar, and winch plate would work with my OEM steel bumper package. Question, did you have to do any grinding, cutting, or any other mods to get that tow bar attachment point to fit ?

    • @4x4campingcorps
      @4x4campingcorps  4 года назад

      Hi John, yes I did have to use an angle grinder to cut off about 2" from each side of the factory skid plate in order for the tow bar to fit. At first I was just going to remove the skid plate and leave it off, then changed my mind and decided to cut & reinstall it instead. After taking the measurements, in only took a few minutes to cut, and almost all of the attachment points for the skid plate could still be used, so it still stays on nice and tight. Thank you for your comment ;-).

    No fuse for the winch? You’re Kidding ?

    • @4x4campingcorps
      @4x4campingcorps  2 года назад

      I was surprised too, but no fuse needed. The wire is very heavy gauge and will draw the battery dry under full load without damaging the winch, so a fuse is not needed to protect it.

    • @4x4campingcorps
      @4x4campingcorps  2 года назад

      Also, due to the wire being such thick gauge it won’t melt or burn under full load either; it’s big enough to handle all the power a battery can put out.

    oopps BAD. put the winch in Before the bumper. Most winches will NOT fit into the bumper opening.
    Remove bumber, Install winch plate, install winch, and then put bumper back on.
    Bolt temp on winch plate for winch alignment; BAD idea.
    I purchased a MOPAR winch plate. the front bolts interfered with the bumper plate for the bumper bolts.
    ground the bolts down some and notched the plate on the bumper.

    • @4x4campingcorps
      @4x4campingcorps  2 года назад

      Hi, thank you for your comment. If I did this again, I would put the winch on before the bumper. Lining up the bolts was a bit tricky with the bumper in place (it took longer than it needed to). It would have been easier to secure the winch and run the cables prior to having the bumper on; you have more open space to work around the winch. This install worked out ok as I took measurements before installing to make sure everything would fit, before I put it on, but in hindsight it would have been easier to put the bumper on afterwards.
