Thanks Waze!!!
Using navigation to try to avoid all the traffic, Waze ended up sending us on quite the adventure! Unfortunately, the minivan that was trying to take the same route ended up having to turn around.

Southern California Jeeping in the [SNOW]? Who Knew?!?
Thanks, but you passed by the boat launch, which was my main interest. Those pull through parking spaces are not for RVs, but for boat trailers. Just so you will know, next time. Nice place. Thanks for the tour..
Thanks for the clarification. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Sorry for bothering you. But I have a jeep jk 2 doors without locker 4 inch lift. Do you think can make this trail. Thanks for answering.
Absolutely it can. There are multiple options / routes on this trail that you can choose to take depending on what you’re comfortable with. The fire roads, which are essentially just dirt roads, can lead you all the way to top, where you can see & touch Pilot Rock, or you take take the more technical and challenging routes if you’d like.
Have you locker in tne red jeep?
Yes. It has Eaton E-lockers both front and rear. 👍🏼
Thanks for the tour.. This will be our first time camping here. I'm curious though. you mentioned this tour was July 4th.. Do people let off fireworks? We want to find a place where there are no fireworks.
Oh! Don’t worry, the closest fireworks show, if I’m not mistaken, is in Santa Barbara. Being Southern California, most fireworks are banned from public possession anyway because of the fire danger. Enjoy your stay!!
Great video guys. How long did it take to get to the Pleito Creek campground from the start of the actual trailhead? I'm trying to plan my day and would appreciate the information. OnX shows the entire trail length at 2.8 miles. Thanks!
Thank you! Sorry for the late response but it totally depends on the current condition of the trail. Worst case, and without coming across anyone else on the trail, I would estimate about 45 minutes one way.
Thank you!
Where is the start I would like to go?
Off the 5 freeway near Gorman (north of LA) Do a google search for Hungry Valley OHV and it will show up…
Thank you for this video. I changed my reservation to a better site from your drive-through.
Glad to know it helped! Hopefully you enjoy your visit!
We spent two weeks. March 20th to April 3rd 2024. Our spot was #50. Fabulous time
We had a great time there too. It was one of the few parks open during the pandemic, so we were very happy to be able to go!
Did you have to order the winch Tray
Yes, unfortunately that must be purchased separately, and it’s around $400. I ordered mine from: www.quadratec.com
How did you fly a drone at point sublime?
There was no one around, so the drone pilot just launched it like normal…
Thanks for posting this dude. I'm having the exact same issue on my 17' JK. I just got the part in last night. This is super helpful as I'm not very mechanical.
You’re welcome!! For what it’s worth, I still haven’t had any issues with it overheating since fixing it. 👍🏼
Sight 234. Is that a cabin? Or can I pitch a tent?
234 was for either a tent or small RV…not a cabin…
I used to take my old '08 2 door Jeep out there quite often when I lived in LA. Thanks for sharing the trail! Brings back some great memories! I always went up the front side and down the back side. I got my front end over that ledge going down, but backed out of it. Didn't seem worth the risk. When I attempted it, it was super skinny, and had to hit it at an angle. Ended up on 2 wheels teetering. I always rode solo, no lockers, in a stock 2 door X with little 31" AT tires. If I flipped I would have been screwed.
I love hearing that! We love that trail too, and have gone multiple times, it’s a great way to get outside of LA and feel like you’re in a completely different area, yet it’s only an hour away. I hear ya about not taking big risks when wheeling solo…it’s not worth breaking something or rolling your rig. The videos never do the trails justice, those hills are steep!!!!
@@4x4campingcorps I watched y'alls Cleghorn Ridge video. I went up there with some people from work. That place got pretty hairy near the end. I had a stock Wrangler X on 31" AT's and the og 16" rims. My manager from work rolled one of our dealerships Tacoma TRD Off Road's onto it's side. lol
Cleghorn has some serious sections! Just a few months ago there was a serious rollover that they called in a helicopter to airlift the driver to a trauma center! The trail systems of Southern California are incredible though with how close to the city they are and with such a wide variety of skill levels. There really is something for everyone. As long as they know their limits and stay safe!
This is Awesome!! Thank you soo much for posting this! Definitely helpful.
Thank you very much, I’m so glad this helped. Appreciate your comment!
Thank you so much for this video. Booking a Mother’s Day camping trip and this was so helpful. Both my husband and I subscribed.
Thank you for this wonderful comment, I am so happy to hear that this helped and really appreciate you both subscribing. This motivates us to post more of these!
Crazy I got about a 3mpg decrease in mpg in my 3.6l wrangler
That is crazy. What kind of filter did you use?
@@4x4campingcorps k&N direct drop in
Just use a stock OEM filter. You would be surprised what gets through those filters…
thank you. very informative video. just booked 1 week for this month. Gona do bass fishing. I appreciate all the good info for it will be my first time at Clear Lake State campground.
Thank you for your comment, and that’s great to hear! I’m glad this video helped you. Though I didn’t have any luck fishing there, I saw other fisherman catching huge largemouths (6+ lbs) and catfish (40+ lbs) right from the shore. They were catching the cats in the main body of water by casting off the beach with bait and leaving their lines in the water until they caught something, and the bass at the mouths of the inlets using mostly lures. There were fish all over the place. Good luck and enjoy your trip.
Keep blasting through puddles and eventually you're gonna ingest water into the intake and hydrolock your ride.
It’s actually something I’ve witnessed and the “chocolate milk” in the oil pan is not pretty. I have to say though, the placement of the intake on most Jeeps was actually designed with water fording in mind which makes it more difficult for a driver to ingest the amount of water necessary to hydrolock the engine. This is why you see so many videos of jeeps making huge splashes and coming out unscathed. It is always something a responsible driver has to keep in mind though. 👍🏼

I questioned google maps and asked waze and both were talking amongst themselves as I drove aimlessly...
Gotta love the AI sometimes… other times, it’s best to just shut it all off. 😣
lol, that was awesome. Love how the girls think it’s the best birthday present ever. They must take after their dad, lol
Haha! It was actually my 11 year old son’s birthday but yes, both my son and daughter love a good off-road adventure.
Loved this! We were at Point Sublime 5 yrs ago in our JK! We found it by accident when visiting the north rim. We watched an amazing sun set from there! We had it all to ourselves. Did you guys see the geo survey marker while you were there? It was such a cool find! We plan to go back and camp overnight sometime so we can watch the sun rise.
That’s awesome to hear, seeing a sunset there is amazing! Thank you for the comment, we LOVED that day trip to Pt Sublime and definitely want to go back too. It’s so much better than going to the south rim and so much more private. And yes, we did see the survey marker, it’s been several months since we were there, but if I recall it was anchored into the rocks right near the edge.
Appreciate the thorough visit through the park. We are camping there in March with friends, and it's a good way to showcase all the campsites. The full hook up sites near the Nature Center is under major construction, so the only hook up site for a group is near Apache loop. Two rangers told us the construction area was highly unlikely to re-open this year...even though it says early summer. (12/29/23) We're local.
Glad you like the video, and thank you for the heads up about the full hookup sites. We are planning on another visit this summer, and will plan accordingly!
They have great food at Hooked Bar and Grill next to the marina.
Yes the food there is really good. They also have live music a lot during the summer which is a nice touch.
What amazing video! Thanks guys! ✌🏼💫 What s the brand of this nice onboard air tire system that you installed in the Gladiator ?
Thank you so much! We had an amazing time out there too! The Onboard air system is actually a prototype we developed as I was looking for a system that would simplify the airing up and down process without having to carry miles and miles of hoses. I’m really happy with the way it turned out and I didn’t break the bank doing it either.
Nice! Are these tires 35s?
37’s…went with the big boys!
is gorila tape uv resistant?
It’s lasted over 2 years and is still holding up….eventually I’ll replace it with fresh tape, but so far so good…
Any thoughts on camp sites 521 523 and 525 ? Thanks
Those spots back up to Route 154 and you’ll get a fair bit of road noise when cars drive by. They are in the more remote part of the campground, and have a lot of trees / shade around the sites, but the road is pretty close.
Thanks for getting back to me. Much appreciated!
Red trees are Manzanita and make excellent BBQ taste like mesquite. Our favorite. We camped up there years ago. I think we were on that upper bay in the uneven site backed into the hill. We had an 18ft trailer.
Thank you for posting this, I haven’t been able to figure out what those trees were! That upper area had pretty tight turns and narrow roads (compared to the lower areas), must have been tough towing and 18 foot trailer up there.
If you off road especially in dusty conditions, OEM air filter is the way to go. Hands down.
K&N will clog up faster than OEM paper filters in dusty conditions (due to the oil on it), nice thing is it can be cleaned, re-oiled and reused…you don’t have to buy a new filter each time.
Hang in there brother. Stay safe!!!
Thank you man, appreciate it!
manzaneta trees red bark
Thank you!!! We couldn’t figure out what those were!
Are your tires running the propper pressure? I run 35” on 36psi with the 2.0 and i get 19-20 mpg
At the time I made this video I had factory provided 33” muds @ 37psi. The air filter did make a difference, but nothing earth shattering…
Almost all my driving is City; hardly ever highway. Is most of your driving highway?
Hit that puddle so hard, it bent up your plate. You’re rehired 😂
Hahaha, big splash!!! When you come To LA, let’s hit the trails!
Thanks so much for posting the tour!
Glad you liked it. We go every year and love that place!
As a fellow 3.8 owner I feel the pain of cooling issues. Nice to have a DC fan vs brushless of newer JKs I recently used the AEV 3.6 brushless fan swap on mine & it is a great modification. The high speed relay on the 3.8 over heats. It is behind the headlight…
Really?! Interesting, I’ll have to look into that modification. 🤔 Luckily, and I’m probably jinxing it by saying this, but I haven’t had any cooling issues since. 🤫
You have a 2010? Is that the 3.8?
It’s actually a 2009 but yes, it has the 3.8 liter. The JK platform started out with this engine in 2007 and after Fiat bought the brand they thankfully ditched the power plant they shared with the Dodge Caravan for the 3.6 liter in 2012.
You think????
Hahaha, just a little one….
When I saw the size of the box for my 3.3 shocks, I knew right then that I needed to explain them to the spouse. Fortunately, she knew I needed new shocks so it wasn’t that bad of a reaction.
I think quite a few of us have had to do some explaining from time to time! 😁
That only for 3.8 I dont think same as 12 for 3.6 still after replacing fan also relay fan not working properly also code p04080 I guess
Yes, when Fiat made the changes to the Wrangler and other Jeep models they did change out certain parts other than just the engines. The basic trouble codes however, have stayed the same for the most part. We haven’t seen any fan issues in the JL yet, but when we do, we’ll be making another video on that one for sure!
@@4x4campingcorps thank for info
I have spot 49 this Thursday this was perfect 😂
Hope you had a good time there, and glad the video helped!
Falcón vs Rock Krawlers??
I haven’t had any experience with the RK systems so I can’t compare but I’ve heard good things about their other suspension components.
I Have the RK RRD shocks along with their X Mid arm system and as for the shocks, i don't care for them. The liftt is incredible with the true 4 link in the back with no track bar but the shocks are way too soft for my taste for daily driving. A lot of body roll when you hit a bump or going over a speed bump but off road they do amazing. The rear end just feels too loose. I have a set of falcons on the way and can't wait to see the difference.
Good idea with dremel. Could had used a sanding wheel attachment to smooth out the edges too. Appreciate you sharing this process as I plan to do it soon on my JL.
Thanks Richard! Good idea on a sanding wheel, just as long as you keep the rpms low to avoid melting the plastic. 👍🏼
What is the current tire size? I’m looking at this lift on my sport with 33s, but eventually 35s…
Hey Jody, tire sizes on Gladiators are kind of a funny thing. I was running the metric version of a 35” tire before this lift and had zero issues. Unfortunately, those things looked lost in the wheel well after the lift. I now have a true 37” and there has never been a moment I’ve felt like they’re oversized. 🤷♂️
super easy install. just did the wife's gladiator, 3 hours for the front with no help lol that was a pain in the ass. other than that super easy. doing the rear this weekend.
Hopefully the rear axle was just as easy if not easier!
@@4x4campingcorps super easy. Our kit came with the brake lines so that was the hardest part bleeding the brakes then doing the abs bleed with JScan took about 8 hours total from start to finish by myself lol
I'm thinking about running the 2.5 element kit on my Mojave. It uses trhe plushride springs. I don't want to get rid of the Fox internal bypass 2.5 shocks. I'm guessing you bought the Enforcer kit. How harsh is the ride? One thing we love about the Mojave is the ride on fast desert trails. Thanks for showing it can be done on jackstands!
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the Evo lift! You are correct; I got the Enforcer Overland kit but as far as ride quality, there was no noticeable difference until I added the Falcon shocks. As a matter of fact, with the OEM Fox shocks, it was almost too soft for me! I’m sure the Element kit will not disappoint. 👍🏼
What were you’re initial symptoms? Was the reservoir boiling over after the engine was warm and you were sitting still, idling? Thank you
Hey Joe. Yeah, while driving I didn’t have any signs of a problem. It started while idling at the trailhead and the overflow tank was screaming with boiling fluid. We got a good clip of how it happened in our “Trailhead Trouble” video here: Trailhead Trouble - Jeep JK Radiator Overheating Woes ruclips.net/video/q5VlYHGaaf0/видео.html
Great video, thank you, really great idea on wrapping the rope, I just ordered a winch myself and will def do that.
The sun will destroy the synthetic line (which is expensive to replace!). Since I’ve been wrapping mine, I’ve never had an issue…it will save you a bunch of money down the road.
Thank you for posting this!! Great insight for our upcoming trip! Wow! Thank you x10000000
