      ​@@justj4021yes but if you just pay the additional difference from breakfast to lunch or dinner. So if breakfast is $15 and lunch is $20 dollars you only pay $5 dollars and stay and eat. Same as for dinner.

    Honestly i love that the pastries are cut in half or quarters so you can try them without having to eat a whole one.

      I actually hate that. Looks cheap. Just serve whole donuts and whole cream puffs. It looks bad presentation wise, cut in half. They fall over and the fillings come out. They have to put them in those little doilies and the mess gets everywhere. No thanks! Keep it clean, and serve them whole. No one is making you eat the whole thing? Or they could make smaller desserts. But to cut the crap in half? It’s not a cake. It’s made to be a single item.

      I remember staggering down many a hotel hallway completely blurred eyed for FAR FAR more suspicious food with negative of the nutrients in it at 5am.

    I do wake up at 5 AM to go to Shady Maple. $15.00 is a great price, and on your birthday, you eat free. It is such a great place to go. The area is so nice to shop and visit, and the food is amazing!

      I thought that 15$ is a good price for a big buffet but when I saw the food I changed my mind. In Finland most restaurants have buffets during lunch time and they go for 12-15e for high quality food. Who would eat donuts for lunch 🤦

    Saturdays- especially during tourist season- can be crazy there. Go on a weekday and usually can be seated in a few minutes..
    While large- looks can be decieving. There are 2 sides- both identical- to make things easier...

    I’ve been there 2 times over the last 8 years & it was overwhelming with all the options!
    You had to do a walkabout to get the layout, and prioritize what you wanted. Otherwise you’d end up stuffed & see something you would have preferred over what you randomly gobbled without a plan. 😅❤

      Is there anything else there besides Breakfast food? If not, this isn't the standard Buffet, and I've seen better selections at the Casino, China Buffet, and every other Buffet that I've been to. Same amount of space, but a wider range of food, and not just American food. I'm from Chicago so I need Variety - I cook all of the breakfast from Shady Maples at home.

    I didn't even know this was considered the biggest buffet in the US, but I remember eating there for the first time! I was completely blown away by the fact they had a milk dispenser. Drank at least 6 glasses of chocolate milk. Food was amazing. Would love to return.

      I would eat at this place every day like it's a cult following just so they don't have to throw out leftover food while lots of other people are helping. Forget making food at home.       Yes! Growing up in Lehigh and Berks county, going to college at Kutztown..kids take many trips to shady maple. I’ve actually never been, I’ve heard some raunchy things about the roaches. Hopefully they’ve taken control and gotten it cleaned up a bit since last I heard about it

      I don't care for it either. About 25 years ago, I started taking mini-vacations in Lancaster. We check in on a Wednesday and leave on Saturday morning. I never cared for the old or new Shady Maple. There are better restaurants in the area.

    This sounds like a destination eatery! The fact that it's all locally farmfresh and homemade deserves support! The price is crazy! A family can really celebrate here even if on a lower income. Love that!

      I live in Maryland and we used to visit Lancaster a lot.. my recollection of it is it was very good and a fun experience, they have an amazingly large gift shop at the bottom of it to, definitely worth the trip if you are in the east coast, bc there’s a lot in Lancaster to do

    Went there every summer growing up because my grandma lived in Lancaster. Has some great Pennsylvania Dutch food alongside the other regular things. Best buffet ever by far

    We have been here several times and one time rented a hotel and stayed overnight. What he says is absolutely true... everything is homemade!! They even have a store below where u can buy their handmade furniture, etc. Good quality stuff too! A must see. 💯👌😋😋😋

    That place is spectacular! Not only is the food great, the service is crazy good. So polite and helpful. Dont forget to walk around and check out the unique art! They have huge 3D pictures that blow your mind! Downstairs is a really nice gift shop with some really different stuff. Im going back as soon as possible! Sight and Sound Theater is really close by too. We’re doing an overnight next time because theres so much to see and do! 😊

    Didn't know it was the biggest -- I live ~15 minutes from here. It's not in Lancaster, but it is in Lancaster County (East Earl, PA). Dinner costs more, $20-30 depending on the day of the week. Each night is a different thing at the manned stations, like Steak night, Seafood night, etc. Go there on your birthday with another adult and you eat free (with ID).

    I went there once on a Field Trip to DC, we went there on our last day returning home and I was 15 at the time and had the time of my life. At the time, there were moving conveyor belts and the food came down the line to you without having to walk all over that huge building.

    The funny thing is I was visiting Pennsylvania and wanted to see Amish country. So I rented a car in Philadelphia and drove. I randomly ended up at this place and it blew my mind. Food's good for the price and the selection's crazy.

    I grew up and lived in the Philadelphia region for many many years and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve eaten at Shady Maple. I’ve watched it grow over the years from the smaller restaurant to what it is now!

    I'm lived in Lancaster County for many years, but moved away after retired. Went to Shady Maple many times and really miss it! I miss many things about Lancaster Co, PA. ( Shady Maple has a market and gift shop also)

    That looks bomb! The fact that there's a line makes me feel like it's not one of those sketchy buffets where the food is questionable. I would wake up as early as needed to go somewhere like this. It looks delicious and fun! I'd love to go here with my family..

    Been to shady maple a couple of times. I did a family style dinner one time there too… they just cooked a thanksgiving style dinner and kept bringing you fresh dishes of it til you told them to stop. It was crazy good.

    Shady Maple is the BOMB!
    I haven’t been in 20 years, but being Amish run, I am certain it’s still just as good.
    If you are ever in Lancaster, PA, make sure you bring your appetite, and check this place out.

Missing oil filters in the hood throughout the kitchen of the restaurant area. Intake air duct needs to be cleaned and the filters changed as it is emitting dust and dirt into the air within the meat department. Food employees throughout different departments, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers; corrected. Dirty dishes on storage shelf; corrected. Small bowl being used as a scoop in rice; corrected. The person in charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this noncompliant inspection. Food facility preparing smoked beef using reduced oxygen packaging without the required written procedures and HACCP plan; meat removed from sale. No sign or poster posted at the hand-wash sink in the throughout kitchen area to remind food employees to wash their hands. Several raw animal foods were stored above ready to eat foods in different departments; corrected. Floor in the meat department area is made of concrete and is cracked with holes and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Ceiling tile exposed and subject to moisture: meat department, restaurant food storage area.

      Food facility does not have calibration or sanitizing logs as per Reduced Oxygen Packaging Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points plan. There were four ragged-edge rubber spatulas in deli. Access panels are missing from a small refrigerator and freezer in waitress station in kitchen and in a drawer under grill allowing for accumulation of food debris and grease. The internal temperature of fried chicken on store salad bar measured 116-117 degrees Fahrenheit and prime rib in hot-hold box in kitchen measured 130-133 degrees Fahrenheit and not a minimum of 135 degrees Fahrenheit or above. There were some broken hood baffles in banquet kitchen. Deeply scored cutting board was not resurfaced or discarded as required at short order station. A soap dispenser and paper towels were at a sink that is being used as a utility sink behind seafood counter - if sink is to be used as a utility sink, then hand-washing aids must be removed. Hose was dripping water near three-bay sink in banquet kitchen. Coating is worn off from floor exposing concrete in areas of facility including but not limited to banquet kitchen and meat room walk-in cooler - correct so that it is a smooth easily cleanable surface. In bakery walk-in cooler, the light bulb is neither coated nor shielded. Can opener blade in bakery and sheet pans on a cart had food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Gaskets on four-door refrigerator in banquet kitchen contains a dark residue. There was a heavy accumulation of trash and food debris around outdoor compactor. There was an accumulation of rust on walk-in chicken cooler ceiling. Soap dispenser was clogged in meat room - soap was not available for hand washing. There was an accumulation of food debris under equipment at floor/wall junction in most departments. Light visible under door in grinder washing room - seal to prevent vector entrance. There was some dust adhering to grease on hood baffles in banquet room.

      I live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and have been there too many times to remember! I can confirm 1000%, that this is the best, freshest, tasting, etc., Smorgasbord I personally have ever been to. They don’t skimp on cheap ingredients either.

      Did you read their restaurant inspections ? They are huge. Haven't you ever eaten at Dinners or Yoder's restaurants. ? Smaller buffets, but great. SM went downhill over the years. I haven't been there in awhile , but am disappointed every time I went back

      Why? Sometimes I have a sweet pastry with a cup of coffee with no sugar for breakfast, and it keeps me full for hours. It's definitely not an everyday thing, but I don't think it is wild.

    It won me with that support for local farms. We really could use more places like this. Imagine having a massive community hub like this at affordable pricing for all and supporting the farmers to keep them in business, this stopping big corpos from buying up all the country side and turning it into sub urban nightmares and banks.

      @@bayjustin3885 I wouldn’t trust someone else’s pallet to be the same as yours. If you’re in the area and have 15 and some time to spare I def recommend trying it out for yourself. As far as buffets go it’s really good.

    🌽 This restaurant is in the heart of Amish Country. I have been there twice, their fried Chicken is amazing. It is almost like Disney world in the way that you can't really do the whole restaurant in one sitting. If you really wanted to dive into all the breakfast stuff, the lunch and dinner, the soups and breads, not to mention the pastries and desserts. Unless you are Joey chestnut, or Eater X, you would get sick if you tried to eat everything that place has to offer in one day. Thankfully, that part of Pennsylvania is so beautiful that you don't mind making more than one trip. Plan out your family's birthdays because I am pretty sure they treat you extra special on that day... Great Place 🍗🍤
