Definitely a luxury purchase, and a great example of luxury tech
So, this is the same technology as the Kindle. Like. Exact same. I think specifically the oasis? That's the one I have. However. For the longest time they couldn't figure out how to make it in color. Now, this has color which is very interesting to me. Which means that a kindle in color is an option now, and probably already in the making! An exciting day for people who use Kindles.
Let's be real...nothing is like writing pen to paper yet. All these hype products will make you spend deep and you'll then justify/compromise for the money spent.
You misunderstood the assignment : It's e-paper, digital paper like screens for writers, students, engineering etc. It increases productivity via less distractions and doomscrooling.
Because we carry them now and bigger does not mean stronger. Material choice and engineering is the biggest thing. Let’s also not forget that people just like a device that looks good. Hence the iPhones design not being super sturdy, but people still love it without a case
It's an E-book with extra steps. You know what's better? A tablet, especially the Samsung S8~10 Tab Ultra. Sure it's practically the same price but let's be honest, it will do the same thing as that paper pro and you can even play games, watch movies, doesn't have a screen delay slower than monitors from the 90's and IT HAS A BACK LIGHT! Shocking, I know. Oh yeah you can also attach a mouse and a keyboard to the tablet with a USB C.
The text to pdf conversion for notes and pen/keyboard hybridity are great too if you have to jot down pages and pages every day. E-ink notepads are also a great way to incorporate “realistic feeling” paper notetaking into a digital workflow without having to type everything up on your office PC after the fact.
@@dDraqoNn CRT montiors refresh rate doesn't really compare to modern lcd displays. The input lag is non-percivable and old 85hz CRT has motion clarity which is infinitely higher than a 240hz led. This is why high level old school gaming is still done on CRT screens.

Yes, you can access the internet. Just be aware that this is solely a notetaking/document-viewing device. You won't be able to use it for leisure activities like you can do on a phone or Apple/Samsung tablet. If all you want it for is for the notetaking aspect, then go for it if you have the money ig. Also, it requires a monthly subscription, so it's an unending price tag if you plan to use it for a while.
If you go by spec wise, then it's a great alternative to Kindle, smartphone and tablet. But I personally think that if you really value that authentic emotion, which won't harm your eyes, you better go with a physical journal, a physical pen, and a physical book. (whatever you want to read.) There is no need to buy the brand-new ones, rather go for the used. Once read, either keep or sell the same. For digital communication like messengers, emails, and calls & to listen to music, get a smart dumb phone, which can handle these stuffs. Get a compact camera to shoot pictures. Yes, I know that contrary to a smartphone, these stuffs like the journal, that pen, that book, the dumbphone and that camera will eat out more space and be heavier, but you will be out of the loop of the unnecessary internet stuffs like reels, useless videos, soon. Adapt to this lifestyle for a week, just for a week; you will have more fun than the smartphone world.
I can't use paper journals, I've tried. I'm dyspraxic and have wonky connective tissue, so my writing comes out illegible, or I need to take so long writing that it's pointless. Devices like this are a lifesaver, and are also easier on my ADHD too.
What do you mean, this has better specs than a phone or tablet? That just straight up isn't true. The specs are fine for what this is: a digital notebook/document viewer. But if it had the ability to do the things that a phone or tablet can do, then it would be drastically worse. Besides, what would it need extremely high-powered specs for? Like I said, the whole point is to take notes and view documents. It doesn't NEED uber-high specs.

My favorite part about e-ink displays is how disgustingly gray they look in reality, especially with how white they make them look in marketing. Thanks for showing off the grayness.
I know someone who uses one at school. It's an amazing product, but bro the price is huge !
I'd just buy a pen and paper with less than a dollar.
I have the Remarkable 2, it's super awesome! When I was in school, I could email in my assignments. Now that I'm out, I can sketch things and export them to my computer as SVGs or PNGs. I think it's well-worth the money since I've already got so much out of it!
@@LuigiTuazon Where are you going to find a pen and paper for less than a dollar in 2024? A decent pen alone is going to set you back at least $3. It's also at least $3 or $4 for a pad of paper these days as well.
Maybe at a Dollar Tree you could find paper and pen for $1.25 each, but poor quality. Maybe you might get lucky on a back to school sale and get a notepad for $0.89 but that is becoming more and more less likely with inflation.

I just love paper. I don’t care that I’m disorganised, I keep it all in folders, saving key notes digitally, then go through the folders once a year for curiosity. Ahh paper, my true love. Sorry, advertising companies
Its like paper but will take a few thousand years to decompose in a landfill

As someone who uses the reMarkable2, I love these things. I don't need colour (or the backlighting) but I can see how some people might. It's a bit expensive for what it is though.
THAT. it's Way expensive for what it is. I'd love that thing to take notes and sketches but not at that price. when it will be half off, maybe.
It's for a particular type of person. I use a lot of color when I'm sketching diagrams, and I hated how an iPad strained my eyes.

Sincerely jealous. I have been talking myself out of buying one since the first generation because it is a high expense for something that I could not use at work (my job would expose it to oil, dirt, dust, etc every day), but the paper like screen along with many of its features makes it so very appealing. Definitely a luxury purchase, and a great example of luxury tech

Be gone with you nay sayer from the 21st Century. If the Emperor says he has new clothes…..
Monitors in the 90s had a MUCH faster refresh than they do now.
The text to pdf conversion for notes and pen/keyboard hybridity are great too if you have to jot down pages and pages every day. E-ink notepads are also a great way to incorporate “realistic feeling” paper notetaking into a digital workflow without having to type everything up on your office PC after the fact.
@@littlefrank90 i dont thinks so :D we didnt have 240hz monitors in the 90s
@@dDraqoNn CRT montiors refresh rate doesn't really compare to modern lcd displays. The input lag is non-percivable and old 85hz CRT has motion clarity which is infinitely higher than a 240hz led.

I'm curious if it can acess the internet 🤔 Then this is a definite purchase 😊
Yes, it can. It can connect to your email and Google Drive.
Sooo, did thousands of people seriously upvote an iPad-Kindle mix? Do you people seriously think this is innovative?
PFFFFT 600 bucks ya right!
Correction: 930 CAD before taxes?!
If you go by spec wise, then it's a great alternative to Kindle, smartphone and tablet. But I personally think that if you really value that authentic emotion, which won't harm your eyes, you better go with a physical journal, a physical pen, and a physical book. (whatever you want to read.)
There is no need to buy the brand-new ones, rather go for the used.

If you go by specs this is absolutely trash compared to a similarly priced tablet
I dont find any use of these useless tablets.
