The Admiral is correct. Wish I had this speech growing up. I went to college, paid my way. Joined the military. People told me I would fail. I never gave up. Didn't quit. After the military, I went into Law Enforcement. Was a Officer and a Detective for 18+ years. Found out in April of this year, my father had bladder cancer ( he never smoked or drank, and is 100% cancer free). I moved closer to home. First time I lived up here for over 24 years. My parents took care of us, now it's our turn to help them out. My parents have been married for 57 years. I hit rock bottom before. I have failed many times. Picked myself up. Strive to be the best I can. Respect and honor. It's lacking these days.

As hard as it is to believe, there is a truth in the cliché that bullying comes from some insecurity of the person who bullies. That person may be as insecure as any other person, but they cope with it differently. Don't forget to accept yourself as a human being and that bullies are human too and just as imperfect as anyone else. Therefore, don't be ashamed of anything that you do or (dis)like, we're all imperfect humans after all.
Good luck and greetings from Europe!

    • @Ellamar23
      @Ellamar23 2 года назад +9

Bullies are always jealous of the ones they bully. Bullies are extremely insecure. They grow up to become losers. Do not respond to them and ignore it; I know how hard that is to do. The best response is always no response. Bullies thrive on the confrontation; don't give it to them. You are not alone. Whatever they are saying to bully you, I promise you that it will not be important or matter as you grow up. I survived being bullied. You are strong and will continue to rise above it. Remember, bullies are very ignorant. If you want to engage in their cruel behavior, laugh at them; everything they tell you turn it around on them by asking them a question. For example, "If they call you stupid, ask them why are you (the bully) stupid? Or agree with them..yes, "I agree you(bully)are stupid." But that is a personal problem. I don't know why you feel the need to tell me you are stupid? I am not a therapist, and I can't help you. Hang in there, you will overcome it. And the bully will be in the same miserable place as they are now and in years to come. You will be a success!

    • @Haltzo

An opinion doesn't define who you are, never forget that. People can think whatever they want about you, the only person that has to be happy is you. Don't let anyone talk you down. you could call it egoism, i call it being smart.

5 years ago, this man's speech came up in my news feed and it changed my life. I was in a bad spot with nothing to show for myself, and hearing him speak gave me hope. I have made my bed every day since and always encourage those around me to not ever give up. Now I have been a firefighter for over a year and just got hired as an EMT, while also currently going through school to become an Advanced EMT. I like to think that this man is the inspiration that got me to where I am today, and I hope to show my gratitude by always being an inspiration to all those around me to also become the best they can be.

Starting my 35th year in the fire service. Two states, two coasts.
I remember my Dad pumping me up when I first promoted as he shared his experience as a supervisor at his job. My Dad worked for a governmental aerospace company for 26 years before retirement when he gave his advise that got me through the first years as a supervisor.
I was also clean and sober about 9 years when I promoted now 30 years on I still use my program values and the departments vision. I have always been driven to pass on my skills and knowledge to my subordinates as they are going to replace me when my date comes. Keep up the good work sir you have many great years ahead of you live, learn, and work your way to being the best you can be. Teach others how to do your job as they come into contact with you. Empathy for others goes miles in getting them to take ownership in the job.
Start your day with this; "Today is the first day of the rest of your life, make it the best it can be for the rest of your life.

When I heard the message, I saw my life and faith in God. We go through trials, tribulations, and downfalls. I looked at it as a test to see if I was willing to do what was necessary to prove I was willing and able to do something that, If we continue to fight the good fight, will make it through. I compared the angels who helped and encouraged me to during
my difficult struggles to angels, to show myself and God I
would never stop and not give up
no matter what. Making it to the end is my greatest reward. My reward is not to earn a trophy or

Start each day with a task completed
Find someone to help you through life
    Respect everyone
Know that life is not fair and that you will fail often
But if you take some risks,
Step up when the times are the toughest ,
    Face the bullies,
    Lift up the downtrodden,
    And never ever give up,
The next generation n the one after that will live in a far better world than the one we have now.
If you can’t do the little things right you can’t do the big things right

woah ❤!! Ive been having an amazing day manifesting nothing but energy to keep myself strong and to keep my head up all ive gotta say is thank you to Admiral McRaven for what he said about his men and women and giving and providing me with the extra strength that we all have within us, its incredible how a small task from the moment you wake you without realizing it will change your life forever. Together we can all make the difference and we all have a purpose as in individual. My eyes are open and i hope to make a difference for the greater good!

This is more than just making your bed in the morning. This is about taking responsability for your life, starting with small things so you can go on to bigger things. It's about having self discipline in your daily life so you can achieve goals in the long term.
Eventually, your life will be better and you will influence the world around you positively.

Thank you admiral McRaven. I just finished reading your book “Make your bed” . Very inspiring. I was raised by military families At 3 yrs old we we were taught and trained to make our bed as soon as we get up in the morning. For 47 years it was part of my daily life. After reading your book I finally understood how I survived all the obstacles of failure and success in life. Your book is so inspiring and can’t wait to share it to everyone. Really small thing can make thing so difference. Thank you so much .

Then years later I came across This video and it was like " BOOM !!! " I Suddenly understood perfectly What my Mom was trying to tell me all the time !! And until This Day ... I Never leave the house without making up my bed !! This morning at 7.30 am in Amsterdam, I watched it Again !!! Thank You, Admiral William H McRaven , for this Reminder, an inspirational Life Changing Speech ! Wherever you are ... I hope you're well, Sir ! 🤘💝
