I rode to Elfin Lakes about 20 years ago all the way from town. Back then the trail was barely even a hiking trail…and I rode it on a hard tail without even front shocks. The climb was exhausting and the ripping descent without shocks was even more brutal…but the scene at the top was all worth it!!! Brings back memories!
Oh yeah? Well I did it 40 years ago. That's 20 whole years before you did it. Not only did I do it on a fully rigid, but I was riding a penny-farthing. I also didn't even take a water bottle with me. And those trails you said that were barely even trails when you did it? Yeah, they didn't even exist when I set out on my adventure, I had to build the trail as I went. I'd build 100 ft. of trail, hike back, hop on my penny-farthing, and ride what I had just built. Rinse and repeat the whole way out. Also when I did it, it was uphill in both directions, AND it was in the dead of winter so I was biking through roughly 4 ft. of snow. Yeah I'd say my ride was a bit more impressive than yours. Still feel special now, brah?
Love MTB videos like this where the music is NOT loud annoying and in my face. I want to hear the crunch of the tires, some rider chat, birds, wind etc.... great job!
Since I don't think I've said it yet I've taken to watching your videos of biking, Dale. And they give me... well, several things. But let us simplify and say that they give me a happiness. It is, let us say "unlikely", that my broken body will ever be able to experience the loveliness of these trails and their like. but it is some comfort and joy to see them through others. Thank you.
If anyone's wondering about the weird trail name, _Pseudotsuga menziesii_ is the scientific name for Douglas Fir, the most common and iconic tree species in that part of the world. Thank you for joining me on this episode of "nobody asked, nerd".
Squamish really is in a league of its own. Spent a few days there in October and it took everything in my power to force myself to leave. This trails on my bucketlist for sure now

What a beautiful area. Well done on this presentation. I haven't ridden that area since the mid 90's. It's on my list for next summer. Hoping to go with my nephew Andreas. Maybe you know him at Norco? He's the one who turned me on to your channel.
I'm kind of surprised you didn't tale the singletrack climb up to the Elfin Lakes parking lot. I'm even more surprised you didn't take any of the singletrack options from just below the parking lot! Meadow of the Grizzly is a cool blue flow, but there's a number of harder options if you're so inclined. Incredible area! And super impressive you climbed all the way from the bottom, and in 2 hours! I think it took me that much from parking lot to the lakes haha. EDIT. The section labelled "rant" lol
I figured the singletrack climb would've added half an hour and I wanted to avoid traffic (that failed, haha). I did ride grizzly down, just didn't film it! 😉
@@DaleStone That's fair, singletrack climb is definitely more challenging! It is beautifully done, I hope you do it one day and then done some double blacks in the area ;) I'll never have the guts to do them but I'm curious what they are like.
That's a nice ride, my kind of ride. Lot of meat you got on that "XC" rig, am I right, Vittoria Agarro 29x2.6"? If they're the 2.4"s, holy hell do they look massive. Still looking for the "whimpy" XC tyres :-p
For the rear I'd be more inclined to go with a 2.4 Rekon Race over the Ikon, or the Forekaster to better pair traction wise to the front - used to Run DHF 2.3" F/FK 2.3" rear, very well balanced, agro XC combo. I'll give ya the Ikon casings aren't the burliest in just EXO, but then again, it really is an XC tyre. Would love to see the FK get 3C MaxxTerra compound and EXO+ in the 2.35" option instead of the just the 2.6".
In my experience - Most people who spend Sunday at church are hypocrites, and will screw you on Monday. Most people who ride / ski / hike, as a group, thrive on sweat equity and will help out on Monday if help is called for.
What are you using for all your fitness/tracking/distance etc monitoring gear? Might be a good investment for 2022. New fitness watch and tracker. And thing you have mounted on your bars.
Views there were otherworldly. It appears you’ve raised your levers more towards horizontal. If so, has it helped your issue from earlier this year? (I commented about this on another video). Leveling mine was a game changer, personally.

So beautiful! And the single track at the end….holy moly 👀👀👀👀
Wow, what a backyard playground.
That trail was incredible! They knew how to get the most of the space they were given to build it, wow!
That was very nice ride. I love hiking up those type of mountains. The views are fantastic.

thanks for reminding us that now every ride has to be all about the big hits
Always go big or stay home. Words to live by. (solid typo, lol)
What a day. An amazing view and then a beautiful flow trail to end the adventure.
Absolutely stunning area... now I need to get out into the mountains this summer for sure
Looks amazing and so peaceful! I mean the views alone are worth it.. and I live in Alaska!
Well, there’s another destination ride to add to my list! Beautiful. And Psudo Tsuga? That’s not in a bike park? Wow.
Nice to see you riding something a little low key so you can take in your surroundings. Awesome scenery there. Dang, miss BC like crazy!
That flow trail is a work of flow of art for sure on the Mtb bucket list cheers and happy riding
Beautfiul trail and well rode.

Dale, that flow on Pseudo-Tsuga is sick! Also great views captured on the Alpine!
I did this as an over-nighter and took Medows of the grizzly to half nelson down. MAGICAL trip !
Such a nice flow trails. On the last pzrt i wondered if i was in Jurassic park. Beautiful.
Those trails look awesome! Awesome video
The view is so sick
This is my favorite trail so far.
Psudo Tsuga..... My GOD!!!!! 😍😍😍😍
weird hearing you with loud hubs, good for keeping those bears away ;-) sick ride!
Looks so good as always bro 🤩🤘🔥
Norco colors are awesome. The Norco color scheme of green and orange from like 2016? 17?, is one of the best ever. Great looking bike Dale!
The revolvers from that era with black/orange, black/red and black/blue are some of the best paint jobs in existence IMO.
@@DaleStone yeah green/black with orange letters
Amazing descent trail.

Wow great stuff💥💥💥
How in the earth is there not a line of 10 bikers waiting at the start of each of those lines on a perfect sunny Saturday. Amazing
This is an awesome snow shoeing trip in the winter. I didn't think bikes were even allowed on that trail.
Fully allowed to the lake and back, but probably even more fun in the winter with snowshoes haha
@@DaleStone It is amazing in the snow. Especially when doing the hike in the middle if a clear night. Passing the Diamond Head is undescribable.
