I really liked the Kondor Blue cage. basically a top and bottom plate but with an integrated upper nato rail and much cheaper than this cage. Totally agree that the manfrotto plate is clutch for swapping between gimbals, sticks, and handheld setups. Made the mistake of getting the wrong plate once and it was hell having to break down and set back up for specific shots
I've tried and used a lot of them, the Bright Tangerine is very good and maybe the best, but the Chrosziel is also very very good, especially but not only if you use their VCT plate. As far as systems go, the Wooden Camera is also very good, since you can remove the rails more easily compared to the Bright Tangerine. But that's the only advantage to me. The way it works is the cage has an arca plate at the bottom which slides into the base for the rails, which is mounted via arri dovetail to for example the tripod head. I would also make sure the system of choice works well with shoulder mounts, if needed.
I have an 8Sinn and a Tilta cage sitting in a box. I went to a base plate and a top plate on both my C70's. Both are still "rigged out" but just cleaner. Your set up here is very nice. I have the 24-105F2.8 coming. I'm probably gonna have to go back to some kinda rails. I like the BT base plate. Looks like a reasonable solution. Been shooting with the RAW LT on the C70 a lot. The files are not that much bigger and look great! Your commercial shots here are really nice.
This rig is mint. What do you screw the stock canon mic mount into? there seems to be an intermediary part there that is not just a cold shoe mount. Thanks!
Great set up Thomas! I'm just curious about your shotgun mount setup is it just the canon c70 shotgun mount with a cold shoe adapter? I noticed you had a few custom pieces there.
Thanks for replying so fast! Can I ask about the tool chest as well? I'm building out my home office and want a standing desk and then tool chest for gear storage. I'm also a C70 user and stumble on your videos every now and then. Thanks for all the transparency and BTS you show of your work. Can't wait to see the next camera system you transition to and the work you make! Cheers and Happy Holidays! @@thomas.kovacik
solid review - I whole heartily agree with buy once, cry once
Appreciate ya! Yeah it hurts the wallet but it's so nice not having to think about it ever again haha

Awesome video break down and review.
If I may ask, which XLR to mini XLR cable are you using? Love the profile and right angled nature of it.
Thanks

I loooove my atom lt lol
So clutch😂 jk. That’s a pretty awesome setup. I’m an 80s 90s kid so we say awesome and rad a lot. I’ll have to adapt to using “clutch”.
hahah thanks! yeah my brain tends to get stuck on one or two words when filming and i have to remind myself not to repeat hah

Thank ya! Loved this setup
It’s a nato rail to cold shoe mount! It’s solid for the BT cage

thanks! Yeah it's a niceyrig nato to cold shoe adapter! the bright tangerine top plate has a nato rail that extends out pretty far which is nice
hey man! just wondering where your office desk is from? Thanks!
Hey! It’s the E7 pro plus standing desk from flexispot, it’s been great!

I’m stuck between this and the mid49 cage/rig
Love mid49's stuff too
Are you still enjoying your fx3?
Yup! Loving it, have no plans on selling unless they have a mkii haha
Are you still selling the cage?
It’s been sold!
