Buy it. Get yourself the 24-70. My favorite by far. The RF24-105 is nice too if you're okay with F4. Most of the time I am. I have 2 C70's and that's what I have on both. I have an R5c with a 15-35 for wides. Cool vid.
I'm about to! it's such a workhorse of a lens haven't tried that 24-105 yet! I'm not afraid of f4 but mostly want the IQ to be similar to the 24-70- not sure if there would be much of a difference overall Love it! that 15-35 is great too. Would also love to add that 70-200 bc it's so small hah and maybe 100-500 for surf filming hah
Lovely rig! If you’re in the market for a great hot swap plate to keep the power going on your rig, look into the CORE jetpack! I got it for my pocket 6K rig and battery swaps are sooooo worry free now. Monitor, evf, cam and nucleus m all stay on whilst swapping batteries. It adds about 1lb to your rig but it’s worth imho. But regardless, your rig is amazing.
so true, these RF lenses are actually worth it I feel Would love the 24-70 / 70-200 combo for a lot of jobs. May end up going that route over cine zooms for convenience / weight
my main concern is optics - I've heard that there's a clear difference between the two. I'm fine with f4, I just dont want any image issues if I'm buying a modern lens Plus, I've used the 24-70 extensively and adore that lens
Great video. Always nice to hear what other filmakers line of thoughts are when rigging their cameras. Regarding redundant recording I would suggest not to format the second card if you are double backing up just one card from the pair. Rarely it can happen that in the transfer your files can get corrupted so that way you still have everything on the card. Or download each of the redundant cards to a different storage less chance of having a corrupt file.
Sweet rig! Question about running power from V-Mount: have you noticed that the camera switches back and forth between drawing power from the V-mount and the Canon battery at random? It's something I've noticed with my rig, but I'm using a Kondor Blue plate and Kondor Blue Dtap to DC adapter.
Hi Thomas, Thank you for your videos about c70! Would you still buy this camera today? I am about to buy one soon so only honest answers please!!! ;) I do documentary and short commercial videos mostly so c70 fits for sure. But maybe something has changed in your opinion after some time? Please share if! Also pleas help me with the decision about lenses and RF or EF (+speedbooster) - which option is better? Is the speedbooster really a crap with this purple flar or something? On the other hand there is this crop with RF lenses in c70, and of course expensive... I would be super greatefull for your advice!
Course! I have plenty more on the way hah Yeah I think so! I'm in this new spot now since buying the camera. I plan to make an update video on it It's the best run n gun doc style camera for solo shooters on the market, hands down. The fx6 is great for event / bts but the c70 just has that extra oomf to it It worked really well for this project, but there's been loads where I think I would want a red komodo The komodo x has a more simple setup than the OG, and 6K R3D is just so lovely to work with I think my fx3 could do 80-90% of what I need out of the c70, so I could sell it. But there's projects where I would want the c70 for nd, audio, and battery life (running a stripped down setup) So I would prob keep it and add the komodo x for those larger gigs I use EF with speed booster with my vintage lenses, I plan on getting the rF24-70 I think. Still deciding between that or the sigma 24-70, but the RF just is so good and the IS is smooth I've seen the purple flare sometimes but that's when shooting extremely backlit which I dont do as much Yeah I don't mind the crop on the rf lenses as much- the 24-70 is perfect on s35 for me
I haven't used the WC yet, but I didn't really like the design of the system from my research. Much prefer the BT and I've had 0 issues with it since buying
@@thomas.kovacik That's helpful - Just picked up a C70 and I've been considering how to rig it out. We do a lot of doc work, so a minimal setup is much better. Just need to figure out the best spot to mount a shotgun mic on the right-side so it's out of the way
Don't you find RF 24-70 too tight on 24mm? I'm looking to buy universal zoom for C70 and I'm torn apart between RF 15-35 or Sigma 24-70 with speedbooster
Nope! I do feel the 15-35 is too wide for me as I stick to 24-35 on it- so I’ve found I prefer that 24-70 Yeah the sigma with speedbooster could be a great option! Not sure how AF would go
@@thomas.kovacik It's hard to beat RF quality and IS but on the other hand sigma is half a cost (altough you need speedbooster) I found myself in situations when 24 is too tight on C70 (especially when making vertical conntent). I got very used to 24-70 on fullframe and even though I love C70, it's sensor size gives me headache when choosing lens

@@thomas.kovacik Yea. I have the 70-200 F4 and an RF 100-400. They are good to have but I don't use the long stuff all that much in my work.
So rad! That f4 looks like a great deal, I would prob grab that one
Yeah I get that, great to have incase though

The RF 24-70 is killer and just ‘fits’ the camera perfectly.

@@thomas.kovacik yea after renting it a couple times I finally pulled the trigger and no regrets! Paired with the black pro mist the clients love it.
Yes, it looks like it's the perfect one. But why not 24-105? Somehow it's lighter... Is the f4 really too dark for this camera?
incredible! I'm feeling the same, been renting it a ton lately haha

What would be your best spot for mounting monitor with gimbal?
you'd prob want it off the camera and on a side arm from your gimbal handle

thanks! I haven't, I use the wooden camera dtap cable for c70 with the IDX micro vmount plate. it's been really reliable for a while now

do you find the auto focus reliable ?
Sweet rig build!
Thanks! Got another fun rig build video coming soon! Going into detail on the multiple ways I rig this out!
Can you charge those CoreSWx batteries over USB-C if you needed?
not these ones, there’s rumors that the new models will have usbc
nice video bro, same setup!
thanks! Love that, this setup is so great huh!
Have you tried out the wooden camera accessories to compare them with Bright Tangerine? Specifically the top plate
