Madison's first leg was insane. to run faster than Fraser-Pryce is already a feat, but to do it around the bend on the outside lane is just legendary. the commentator also deserves MAJOR props, he really made the viewing experience so memorable. that he observed Madison going faster than Fraser-Pryce, that he knew before Jeter finished it would be a special time and called the WR as it happened - he was on it.

I've watched a lot of track meets at different levels. This is by far the best relay race I have ever seen. The handoffs were textbook, and that's why the ladies were able to run so fast. As fast as the USA was, Jamaica and Ukraine also got around the track at a fast pace. That makes the USA's time even more jaw dropping. When Jeter got that last handoff, I mean it was like some rocket launchers came out of her shoes. She absolutely flew down that last 100. It was electrifying to watch it live, and still gives me goosebumps today!

HAHAH I think he's just disproving the phrase ' you run like a girl ' , because some think that using that term is derogatory or humiliating .

Tianna Madison won that relay. Fraser-Pryce starts that race for Jamaica to get them a sizable lead. But not only did Tianna hold her own, she actually beat Shelley-Ann to the 2nd relay person. The rest of Team USA ran flawlessly.
Gotta love how Jeter was pointing at the clock as she passed the finish line. If track was still one of the glamour sports in the USA, Jeter's point at the clock would be an all-time Olympic moment.

I agree that Tianna went toe to toe with Shelly Ann, but Tianna, Allyson and Carmelita won that race. They were insanely fast. Allyson smoked the second leg like she was walking on water and Carmelita blew the roof of the stadium on that last leg.

I mentioned after the 2011 World Championship 4x100 relay win, and having seen Tiana Madison (Bartoletta) in a few races afterwards, if they could replace Bianca Knight at the start with Bartoletta, the women have a chance to break the world Record...with the addition of Bartoletta they did just that. If they can replace Bianca Knight altogether, they could possibly break it again.

finisher3x However poignant the moment, relay runners must learn to never do that (point at the clock) because Jeter lost precious 100ths here and there showcasing her exuberance at the time. Which could have been a 40.72, or maybe even a 40.69 had Jeter executed proper running technique and leaned at the line.

Jeter says her coach is always getting on her for doing that.

Jeter's point was an iconic moment. She will always be remembered for that.

True. West Africans are the fastest sprinters in the world. Black Americans and Jamaicans are of West African origin.

Fastest sprinters doesn't mean best athletes. Although i don't necessarily disagree. But it isn't black and white.

When Felix handed off that baton off to Knight, I was standing up because I knew we were going to do it, but when Knight handed that baton off to Jeter, it was all over! But thanks to Felix for that huge lead! I can't forget Madison leading off because she came out of the blocks like a rocket! I can watch this over and over again! It was a race for the ages!

I love that some of the women's soccer team was there to give them their flags. As a track athlete, it's always nice when other people from different sports come to watch because it's that little extra support and knowing that others care about your success.
