Just got a goofish rod which I’m also going to use out of Key Largo MM97 Ocean side. Did great with blacks and muttons this year, Now I’m going to hit nice spots on CMOR maps using slow pitch jigs.
Funny thing is I rarely know when I’m going to go out. Between weather and work I usually just make a last minute decision and go! That’s why I fish solo sometimes.
Hey guys. I just wanted to tell Dan next time he's into big AJ's I would send down a jig on a beefy rod combo. Those fish are excellent on the smoker for both fish dip and just eating. Besides, you can't just let that new smoker sit around. Tight lines.....
You can check out the specifications of all the SPJ rods on our website and get a 10% discount as well. I found the green rod to be a mid range SPJ rod. I have used it in waters up to 300 feet deep with jigs from 200-300 grams. Check it out here: floridafishingcouple.com/our-gear
Well Capt Dan Got into some nice fish. Great weather in that video. I'm hoping we get some decent days while we're down there. By the way I sent you an email on the dates Peggy and I will be down. So between the two, blue and green, which do you like better? Man I thought you were going to be spooled with that shark. I'm glad you ran up on him to get some line back.
The blue is rated for larger jigs and fish. They both can handle anything you throw at them. Have a giveaway with Goofish rods coming soon. Stay tuned!
Trade that Torium16HGA for a Torium 16PGA and you'll get 33lb drag instead of 24 lb drag. Also the PGA comes with a power handle which makes it great straight up/down slow pitch jigging. Really enjoy your solo adventures. BOL/Be safe!!!
The Torium 16 is perfect for the blue rod; I need something a little bit smaller for the green one. Still looking, not sure yet which to pair it with. - Capt Dan
@@FloridaFishingCouple try the accurate valiant 300. That’s what I have paired with my blue goofish. Was wondering how you liked the 16 torium paired with it because it’s about twice the weight
I’m trying to get started in slow pitch too. How do you manage the line while fighting a fish or do you just not worry about it piling up in one spot too much on those bigger conventional reels?
Right now I am using a Torium 16 - but looking for a smaller reel with more drag. Maybe a Accurate 300 or a Gomexus 450. Depends on the performance of both which one I will stay with. - Capt Dan
No, the different colors represent different levels of strength, weight of the jig, and pound test of the line used. Blue is a heavier more stout rod than the yellow/green rod for example. - Capt Dan
i tried to get one to do a review and they wouldn't send me one cause i don't have many subs i was gona do reviews on Facebook in the slow pitch groups but they wouldn't do it
Is Hico’s channel off the air haven’t seen anything from his channel . Nor haven’t seen y’all fishing together in a while . Hopefully y’all are doing well !
@@FloridaFishingCouple wow, I wasn't expecting a reply, you earned a loyal sub. I'll be taking the family and boat down in 2 weeks to Islamorada. It'll be my 1st time slow pitch jigging. Fingers crossed
So glad you're back! Saw you had some family time. Happy Birthday and great video! We love y'all!
Good to see your are still trying out the slow pitch jigging .
Great video!
Yes, really enjoying the technique. It’s really fun and catches a lot of fish.- Capt Dan

Very painful.......😪

I’ve been using the CMOR mapping system with a lot of success lately.
Man I can’t wait to get to Florida this summer 🥇 thanks for the vid
Great show. Let me know when you’re going to go out and I’ll hook with you. I’m on MM97 ocean side.

I'm behind on spj... I'm looking at the green Goofish rod. What depths, and gram weights do you recommend of this rod... Thank you

I think I actually like the green better but, I have the black on order. Looking forward to that one. -Capt Dan
@@FloridaFishingCouple isn't the black one on back order?
Which one do you like better the blue or the yellow. Seems like the blue is better equipped for the big boys.

Please make a BIG announcement when
those GOOFISH rods come in black. Sure
I would buy a few in shiny or matte black.
Thanks,,, BOL/TightLines !!!

How do you like that shimano torium paired with that rod? Do you feel that its alittle heavy for it or just right?

What kind of fishing line you use for Yellow Rod???? And thank you
I was using 30 pound test green power pro braid. - Capt Dan
Love your videos ❤️
I’m trying to get started in slow pitch too. How do you manage the line while fighting a fish or do you just not worry about it piling up in one spot too much on those bigger conventional reels?
The reel is very small and you just use your thumb to keep the line where you want it to go.
Hey Dan what do you recommend the blue or green? For fishing 100-500ft jig no heavier than 300
Definitely the green or the black ( which are identical blanks). Check out our website for 10% off code.
If you’re slow pitch jigging in those depths what size line are you using?
20 lb test diamond braid
Man.... that shark run.
Could not stop or turn him. When I saw him take the tuna he looked to be about 300 pounds. - Capt Dan
Good stuff!
What type of reel are you using on the yellow goofish rod?
Right now I am using a Torium 16 - but looking for a smaller reel with more drag. Maybe a Accurate 300 or a Gomexus 450. Depends on the performance of both which one I will stay with. - Capt Dan
So, about the GooFish rods, are they all the same but different colors? Or?
No, the different colors represent different levels of strength, weight of the jig, and pound test of the line used. Blue is a heavier more stout rod than the yellow/green rod for example. - Capt Dan
@@FloridaFishingCouple thank you!
Are you slow pitching only at wrecks?
Fishing is great until the tax man gets you. Great video. Thank you.
I know, just the cost of fishing business I guess! 🦈
Jigging is Alot of fun.
Go to wreck and rt a 50 ++ lb Amberjack and that's Fun
Dude where is your floatation device...? You at sea by your self....! You only get one chance to be safe.....! Nice to see a fresh video..
