Props for doing this man, rarely anyone let`s play this campaign on legendary, and I know it's in part because it is by far the most difficult (even if you are the Fujiwara)
Fujiwara is my fav faction in ROTS not only because of good starting regions but buffs to your economy. I never rush through my campaign. I take my time building financial superiority.
For historical and me reading about the period and loving the individuals there, I prefer Taira (either one is good). But in terms of being easier and a laid back experience (for me at least), any of the Fujiwara. Its just as you said, good start, decent economy, and maybe its just me, but playing them feels very... calm.
You can afford not to rush and be aggressive because they start in a mega safe position. Compared to the start positions of the Tiara's and the Minamoto's, the Fujiwara's are a breeze.
I realize this is an old video and that this comment might even ever be seen, but nevertheless, I feel the need to comment what you've said regarding all allies being backstabbers. In my soon-to-be 400 hours I've put into this game I have found the A.I allies to be in the top two of all TW games regarding their reliability (first one being WH) as allies. Granted that your allies have a good reliability rating, they often times sick with you for a long, long time. I've been allied with Dependable/Steadfast clans basically entire Long campaigns, and they joined all wars I've asked them to (which in most cases have been plenty), even vs Mighty/Terrifying clans. I actually finished my Takeda Long Legendary campaign today, and Imagawa and Sagara rolled with me practically the entire playthrough. Using the word "practically" because the alliances didn't last 100% of the campaign because Imagawa died, and I messed up with the Sagara by requesting them to join me in a war against Chokosabe, to which Sagara was allied with. Later on however I vassalized Imagawa and re-allied Sagara, which lasted till the end of the campaign. Imagawa was Dependable, and Sagara Steadfast, and they stayed with me even after RD. I was never once betrayed by an ally/vassal faction (believe me, I had plenty of both ;P). However, something that would even make an otherwise reliable ally unreliable is this game's HARDCODES. Your sisterclan in this for example is HARDCODED to declare war on you if you take Fukushima, hence why did it now. If you don't, however, there's a high chance that they'll stick with you for a very long time. When I played this as Minamoto (the one who starts in Takeda territory) my Kiso Minamoto sisterclan stayed with me till she died (around 50-60 turns in if I remember it correctly), and joined me every single time someone declared war on me. Needless to say, I'm very happy with alliances in Shogun 2, ;D
I did a shogun 2 campaing once where I became shogun and I would still have even 4 allies that with -200 still would stick with me, was awesome, but I didn't rished enought to make the objetives, so it wasn't that right. And in RotS vassals made after RD would not betray me even when they were treacherous
I saw someond actually ask for this once and agreed. Legend is now doing it. Therefore, Legend accepted a request. lol Seriously, though. I like this campaign. The only annoying part is exactly what Legend mentioned. Samurai aren't cost effective. The name of the pack is RotSamurai and the Samurai aren't that good.
Samurai are quite good on the battlefield since your normal levy flees so fast. Just not cost-effective on a strategic level (garrison, mass, autobattle)
Unfortunately the game does not deepen the 'request allegiance' feature. For example you could have multiple choices of how to achieve a town's loyalty: Bribe the local court (money intensive), make reform promises to the people (where you then have to implement reforms like in Rome II in the following turns, but which please the population - otherwise the people become unhappy), or make privilege promises in which a town becomes your protectorate, not directly controlled by you. Each of these options would have their own requirements in costs, how much pro percentage there must be to use them and having their own chance of success. You would literally have to choose the best option for the town and decide what eventual risks you would accept from your choice.
Omg i didn’t even know this existed! My first campaign was with this very faction and it was very fun.I guess i know what i’m going to be watching this week!:D

Yes, it's a weird habit some translators have where they want to flavor the text and make it obviously foreign while also trying not to lose meaning. It leads to a lot of strange decisions in their work. A personal peeve of mine is how they use the Japanese word for weapons in unit names (katana, yari, naginata) for some units, but not others. For example the bow units where they are just called "Bow Samurai". ffs quit trying to be artistic and just be consistent in your work.
Amu But naginatas, katanas no-dachis and yaris are all Japanese unique weapons. Similiar, yes, but they are different to medieval European arms. The bow however is hardly Japanese; what do you want them to call it? The 'Arrowishootyari Samaru'?
As far as this game is concerned there is little practical difference between weapons as they are still used in the same roles using the same tactics. Are you arguing that there is a real fundamental difference between a Japanese sword and a European sword? And in contrast to that, are the bows just that much more similar? All I am asking for is consistency in their work. Whatever the naming conventions.
Bow Ashigaru should be named Yumi Ashigaru, they even say it in their voice lines when you click on them in battle. I remember in AoE3 they called them Yumi Archers, which is not quite as bad.
I feel you'd get bored of Fall of the Samurai, as well, since many of the modern units are functionally almost identical, other than stats. Maybe one or two ability differences. But the traditional units are still good fun to use
