The power supplies quick charge that come out at 9-12-15-20 volts etc all have a nominal starting voltage of 5 volts, they simply communicate with the device and if fast charging is not supported they remain on 5 volts and do not burn anything. as for power supplies with currents below 1.5 amperes at 5 volts they simply take longer
Thank you so much, I put my ps5 controller to charge with my phone charger but I wasn't sure if it was the right one, so I unplugged it, then saw your video on RUclips, and you know what I'm glad I did because my phone charger is 9v however I have an old Samsung charger 5v and I am using that instead to charge my ps5 controller. Thank you so much, you're a life saver.
Most fast chargers come with dual outputs (9v 1.67 A and 5v 2 A). It will be fine using fast chargers since it only uses the higher voltage when compatible.
Don't the quick chargers default to 5V if the device doesn't confirm that it supports higher voltages? I thought the whole point of the quick charging is that it negotiates with the device to provide optimal safe charging.
what if my charger has multiple outputs? it says outputs: 5v, 9v, 12v is it safe? I read some articles that says it's in fact safe. but I'm just not sure
I know this is an old video, but If a device doesn't support fast charging, even when plugged into a "fast charger," the charger will typically default to a standard 5V output, meaning it will charge at a slower, regular charging speed, as this is the basic voltage most devices can handle regardless of their fast charging capabilities
The most important thing is the voltage must be 5v The current does not matter even it was higher than 1.5amp and the fast charging enable just for devices that supporting feature
almost 2 years I'm using my phone charger. Still works fine. The DS5 will not charging when the watt to high, I tried it with my super fast charging GaN charger and DS5 not light up .
I hold this to be true, I have two controllers both with the similar issue of input delays happening when they are not plugged into the ps5 because I had both charging on a higher rated voltage/current charger port. I am glad I purchased warranty on them because they are not cheap lol
My charger is from Moto G73 5G and it has 3 outputs: 5V DC 3A, or 9V DC 3A, or 10V DC 3A. How do I know which one is going to be applied into my controller?
Can i charge with new nintendo switch charger? It says output 5V 1.5A, 15V 2.6A. So these are both output numbers. I tried and it worked but is it safe? Can you answer please
I THINK the charger will output whatever the charging wire can handle. Like if i use an old charging wire for my phone or one of the cheap phone charging cords from the gas station, even with a fast charger the phone will only charge at regular speed (5v). But if you use a cord that specifically says fast charging, the phone will say fast charging. I'm not sure if the charger itself can regulate voltage.
@@jinxuq means the amperage is too low to be able to charge while in use you need 1.5 amps to be able to charge the ps5 controller while playing it other wise it won’t charge while playing

Hi. I don't know how to read my charger info so I will copy and paste what it says: Output: 5.0V = 3.0A 15.0W/9.0V = 2.0A 18.0W/12.0V = 1.5A 18.0W. Is it safe to use a charger with that specs to charge it (with the original charger's cable)?
I use the charging dock as phone chargers can damage Ps5 controller battery if not correct voltage, like many ps4 controllers that have been replaced due to this issue
In my experience, the short answer is this The PS5 remote won't accept any charge if the input is too high. For instance, the lower charge works from the USB port on the console or a power strip. But it will not work from a super fast charger for example. Further experimenting showed it CAN charge with a phone charging block, however the charge output has gotta be on the lower end. Just find a weaker one or one capable of adapting to the necessary charge

Yes they do. This entire video is complete utter bullshit. I tested a 45w charger with the Dualsense, it defaulted to 5v 0.5a.

Yes no problem
You can't go higher with the voltage safely but you can with the amperage? Are you sure of that? How?
yes, you can exceed amperage, exceeding voltage may or may not burn the circuit, depends on the circuit itself
