i know you were mostly practicing here but how does h pattern feel in vr? using paddles with full manual there's a huge mental disconnect for me, never got to try h pattern in a sim tho
I have a love/hate with it tbh. It can feel great and very immersive but the lack of car or transmission feedback really makes it difficult. Just the small little kick in the pants when you downshift too quickly and the revs get too high or that micro-moment when you're putting it in the wrong gear and you can feel that almost-mistake of the gears not quite aligning through the shifter, all of that is missing and it makes it incredibly difficult for me to be confident in my throttle blips and overall shifting technique. At this point in my practice and learning, it is probably the single most robotic act I've ever done in a sim - meaning I'm doing it by markers or saying 'at this point, I should be in 3rd here', instead of feeling the car and shifting based on the torque, sound, speed, etc.
