3 hours GT7 VR today. SuperFormula on Nurbergring was the most crazy thing. Absolutely stunned especially by Nurberging, which normally feels kinda dull esthetics wise - but just jaw dropping in VR
I played GT7 VR for like 30 mins tonight and it’s absolutely insane, how much easier is it to race clean now. Everything has scale. It’s like real racing. Crazy good.
I think had the headset on for about 6.5 hours this afternoon. Put over 400 miles on. I absolutely love this game in VR and I have such a great setup in my opinion. Ps5 and PSVR2, Logitech Pro DD wheel, Logitech Pro pedals, Driving Force shifter with the new adapter, TrakRacer TR80, OEM Mitsubishi Evo 8 Recaro seat.
I have a copy of Gran Turismo 2 on my desk at the moment (from replaying it). It made me think though about someone who worked on that game back in 1999, seeing the part at 1:38. Then my mind momentarily blew at how far it's come in those 25 years..
It's amazing, it's like you're sitting in the cockpit and everything isn't flat around you, it's all of the objects in 3D around you - lean your head far enough and you can clip into the side bolsters of your headrest... Like I guess it's obvious it's supposed to be like that, but the first time you see it it's like... woah. Watching video footage of it just doesn't do it justice
I started watching on the 28h nurburgring charity/challenge, for the first few hours i left it open and periodically checked it, then i went to sleep at the end of the day and woke up to see him still playing. lol For me it was almost surrel being dead tired to the point where i'm falling asleep on my chair and watching him still playing and getting better laps than i ever did on the nordschleife.
@@milkyy4168 what i feel the jitters/stutters when viewing someones VR is because the recording gets all the minute headshake and movements and does not take into account the stabilization of eyeballs of the person playing the VR experience. I have never played something in VR but i imagine it is not that wobbly when playing yourself
It's such a surreal experience, after playing GT7 for years on a 2d screen to going to VR, it makes it so much easier to judge everything from overtaking to braking distance.. Definitely adds a huge level of excitement
I did just that today lol. The race cars are just absolutely insane inside. All the cables, the ECUs, the little switches and lights, it is just absolutely perfect
You mention it feels intuitive, which I completely agree with. I tried GT Sport with the previous generation VR headset and I found that it made steering with the throttle incredibly easy. With a normal screen you can direct the front wheels but you have minimal information on what the back end of the car is doing. With VR you can sense so much more what the back end of the car is doing and it adds a whole new dimension to cornering
The level of detail combined with speed and fluidity when playing is amazing. Simply bravo Polyphony Digital 👏 Right, now back to looking at minute detail of nuts and bolts...
They've been doing that for a while on PC and standalone headsets. A lot of people will point it out watching it back, but when you're in there, you don't notice it at all. Saves on a lot of rendering horsepower!
@@noodlefu_ Yes, but PCVR and Quest has fixed foveated rendering on the outer edges of the screen as most VR headsets don’t have eye tracking, PSVR2 does!
@@noodlefu_ that’s not really true, basically no headset on PC has eye tracking and basically no game supports it. PSVR2 is an absolute first on this level.
@@noodlefu_ Definitely great tech. Though I'm pretty sure this headset is the first consumer headset to use eyetracking. Other headsets have just had fixed blurry rendering on the outer edges of the veiw. Kind of ugly but OK if you don't move your eyes to the side. But this one being so much more precise and tracking your eyes, you can save on even more power and never see any flaws in headset. Can't wait to see how this eye tracking tech can do on a PC whenever a capable headset drops. Every headset should have this tech from now on.
When I first tried gt7 in vr it was in my fxx at trial Mountain and I was amazed by the feel of the elevation changes. I was looking at my mirrors to see the opponents I passed but after that I kept getting distracted by the level of detail in the interior. Like I'm just looking at my seatbelt in the game and it's so real
Great vid as always! Something you might want to mention to viewers while streaming or creating videos with PSVR2 is that it uses foveated rendering. This means the headset tracks your eyes and only renders the parts of the screen you are looking at at full quality. Your peripherals show reduced quality, but since you aren't looking there, you don't notice the reduction. This saves on processing power, allowing the headset to display higher resolution and framerates. The reason I bring this up is that viewers are looking at a 2D panel, and see exactly what you see. So we can see your peripherals. So we can see the reduced render quality on your recordings. I just think this is important for people to understand so they don't get the wrong impression of the PSVR2 or your recordings. Examples: 4:40 during the left hand turn, the HUD is extremely muddled on the right side of the screen. But in right turns, it becomes clear. 11:08 everything on the right side of the screen, especially the trees and windows
Yes that's a very important point. Foveated rendering is what allows PSVR 2 to run GT7 with seemingly little to no visual compromises, but when you're looking at social screen capture you can definitely notice lower resolution areas from time to time. In the headset everything should remain clear at all times though. Apparently it looks stunning!
I’d love to see a ‘SuperGT does this 1 track 143 billion times to get a cracking time’ video with this. Would be interesting to see what your best time is compared to non-VR
That’s gonna come down to personal preference, some people will be better at VR and others on normal screens. But i guess you can do like 50 laps with each and see where u get the best time, but I don’t think it would settle anything, other than what you personally prefer
@markxv2267 I disagree. I'm always in the top 1% of the online lap time challenges, and I was able to break every one of my PB lap times, on any track.

I remember back in 1997, when I played the first Gran Turismo on PS1, imagining that someday we might play GT in VR. Only concept of VR we had back then was scifi movies such as Lawnmower Man and Johnny Mnemonic. And here we are, finally a real GT game in VR. So far I will have to say it's an amazing experience (1 hour into it).
Virtuality was active in the early 90s. Remember seeing it on tomorrow's world at the time. Used to see them in arcades too. Vr for SIM racing is awesome. I switch between assetto Corsa /2 and automobilista 2.
This is amazing, i just wish the price for everything needed to experience this, wasn't so huge..(PS5, GT7, VR Headset, rig, steering wheel all totals around $2100) 🤯🤯
Certainly noticed the lighting going into the tunnel was much better. I reckon some go-carts n rally cross would be cool to see... they just need to add that new car smell now.
You said you’ve only played VR twice before yet you didn’t feel the need to hurl, very impressive right there. My first VR go was Drive Club and I almost barfed in half a lap.
That was because of the low fps on ps4 plus bad graphics...the tech wasn't there. I bet it wasn't running at 30fps with 1080p at best and old lenses.. that would make anyone shty sick Today it's 4k graphics at 120hz with eye tracking on Oled lenses..huge difference.. that's 4x better on every front
I played VR for the very first time yesterday with the PSVR2. When playing GT7 my stomach felt as though I was going too fast in a car, however, I did not feel nausea. It was such a weird experience. As the Super GT said, "the sense of speed is amazing". Really unexpected experience, so excited to play again this evening.
Awesome! Would love for you to do more VR content. Thought you handled it well. Seeing as you haven't played VR much and haven't yet got your "VR legs". It's a testament on how far VR has come!
One huge advantage PSVR 2 has over PC VR is that the developers know exactly what hardware they're targeting. Since they get to test the game on the exact same hardware as their players have, they can make sure the game is tuned so that everything runs smoothly. That's not to say that PC VR doesn't have its own advantages, but optimization will be far easier for developers to do on PSVR 2.
Definitely give it a try if you get the chance. Watching videos of VR gameplay on a flat screen doesn't to it justice. You completely lose the sense of scale and depth that makes VR amazing.
It doesn't have that detail that you see here when you're in VR. The inside of the car is really clear & sharp but the cars ahead are blurry. You can't even read the number plates when they get more than a car length away.
I must have had unrealistic expectations because I was very underwhelmed with the image quality. And keep in mind you have to take opinions of reviewers with a grain of salt. Steve got his for free from Sony so he isn’t going to dwell on any negatives.
@@ViaticalTree probably the wrong adjustments and or u dont realize how insane psvr2 graphics are for a vr headset of this price and its also 120hz which is insane. the game normal plays at 60hz....
@@JDisclmd I followed all the instructions for setting it up, but my experience was like the comment above mine. Another commenter (I think on this video) said that the image quality was the same as on a flat screen and it’s not even close. It boggles my mind that someone with half decent vision would make a claim like that.
If there was anything I wish they'd implement in the VR mode, it would be full VR controller interaction with the cars in the VR car viewer. Like the abiliry to walk around and open doors, play with the windows, move the shifter, open the bonnet and boot, and so on. That would be excellent.
I would like my garage to be a garage. One you can walk around and see all your cars. Dirty and clean. if they can't show all of them then show 8 at a time or something. Let you wrench on them, or at least take them through the car wash.
I love that more people are getting into vr and seeing that vr isn’t just a gimmick anymore unfortunately I don’t have a ps5 but I can tell this is probably one of the best vr ports of a flatscreen game I’ve seen
I desperately want to see a competitive race in a top lobby that you have in VR. Can you record and edit together the different camera perspectives? I would love a cockpit view of you passing Kie25 but I would prefer a mixture of cameras for perspective on the race. Thanks for your hard work. I've been a fan for a long time and congratulations on all your success.
The Sony VR2 in GT& is my first try with VR. I'm blown away, it is so much fun, I love it. I do have a hard time getting it adjusted and minimizing the blurring. I cannot imagine how much work went in to sourcing all the detailed interiors, it's amazing.
5:26 Easier for everyone, it's not a black hole you're driving into, you can see the walls all the way in and you can see the terrain out of the other end instead of all white before you exit.
its amazing the eye tracking. Obviously I can´t have the real experience watching this video on youtube but we can notice that on internal mirror just before Super GT looks into it that the quality of the mirror was blurry and when he looks the image is crystal clear. We can´t know exactly where he is focusing to in the screen but we can have an idea to where he is looking to. And I heard that on VR some people get faster simply because you have a better notion of distances. Great video
I think it's the mirrors that really impressed me. Having to look at them while driving is another aspect that could make daily races more challenging and fun. Maybe try a night race to see how the lights reflect off the mirrors?
I’ve been debating on getting a ps5 with the vr racing set up and gran Turismo 7. This video may have just sealed the deal, because this is exactly how I imagined it.
Talking about the elevation changes makes me want to see you tackle Bathurst. It’s looking more and more like I’m about to buy psvr because it looks incredible
Hi Steve! Just wanted to let you know you were the one who got me into sim racing. And I blame you for making me poorer for having to get a dedicated sim rig, and now you’re making me go poorer again because I’m going to go get the PS VR2 just for GT7. I’m having a blast though, so thanks! 🚙
I'm impressed that you can see through your headset when you're not playing the game. That's good design. I can't see a thing when I'm wearing my old Oculus Rift.
VR has made me so much more consistent with my laps. The depth of feeling and gauging when to brake is so much more intuitive. Also just being able to look in the direction of an upcoming corner is huge. Haven't played it enough to say it's made me faster, but it definitely feels like I am.
I've never been envious of PlayStation players, it was always pc gamers. Now I am envious of both PlayStation and pc gamers. I genuinely think it's time for me to jump ship.
Very cool to see the "fov"iated rendering in action. You can get an idea of where you're looking by seeing what's clear on the screen, and what's a bit more pixelated. I'm sure that when you're playing you don't notice the blurr.
I've been playing Assetto Corsa on PC for a couple years now and it makes me soooooo excited to see a big devs like PD and Codemasters offering VR support. I would love if VR could become an industry standard option for players in all racing games.
Nordschleife in GT7 PSVR2 is incredible. I've done that track in VR on PC sims and while it's still more realistic to drive, I don't quite get as solid framerate since my CPU is old. Here in GT7 I never get that problem and it's beautiful and slightly less scary than usual, even though I see more frames of the walls or trees that are about to kill me. Same with Baaaathurst, which career mode made me get intimate with last night; throwing a full grid of cars through the esses at the top of the mountain at night, in VR... 👀
It's INSANE. Get 4 thumpers and an hdmi / optical out splitter. Hook up an amp to drive the thumpers and play then on your seat, peds and wheel. Next level.
I dont think video will ever do VR justice, the experience of racing in VR adds the sense of proximity and speed that takes gaming to the next level. I bought the oculus rift s when it first released and on the verge of looking to update my setup, not a big console player though so not sure if I want to go this route.
If you all wondering if in the headset this looks as good as on flat screen the answer is: YES , played 3 hours today, It's actually shocking how good this is.
No it's not. The cars are blurry when they get a few car lengths away. Tell me if you can read the number plate of a car more than 1 car length away from you. Inside the car is amazing & sharp though.
This looks incredible. I suppose the question is will this be your preferred way of playing the game in future or do you see it as a fun gimmick to try once in a while, with the TV and bonnet cam remaining optimal?
Nice little VR demonstration for us, good sir. And by the way, I'm a few months in now I guess as a subscriber to your channel, and I believe this is the first that I've seen you race/play without voice over narration. 👍✌️

You had Virtual Boy by Nintendo that was out in 95. I actually still have one in the box with a few games.
I like how we can kinda guess where you're looking due to the eye tracker and the graphics adjusting accordingly.
You said you’ve only played VR twice before yet you didn’t feel the need to hurl, very impressive right there. My first VR go was Drive Club and I almost barfed in half a lap.
That was because of the low fps on ps4 plus bad graphics...the tech wasn't there.
I bet it wasn't running at 30fps with 1080p at best and old lenses.. that would make anyone shty sick
Today it's 4k graphics at 120hz with eye tracking on Oled lenses..huge difference.. that's 4x better on every front
If he can do all that he clearly has got his VR legs now.
Been playing GT7 on VR today, absolutely amazing!
This VR set seems so stable, and the recording seems so much smoother than many other VR sets
I must admit: what you're showing us in VR is spot-on. One day, I might try it. Keep up the good work.
Definitely give it a try if you get the chance. Watching videos of VR gameplay on a flat screen doesn't to it justice. You completely lose the sense of scale and depth that makes VR amazing.
I am completely amazed by the level of detail and graphics in GT7 VR
I've been able to break every single record I have with VR compared to not. It's awesome
Nurburgring, full rain + night time, in the original NSX would be sick. Definitely putting PSVR on my wishlist.
If there was anything I wish they'd implement in the VR mode, it would be full VR controller interaction with the cars in the VR car viewer. Like the abiliry to walk around and open doors, play with the windows, move the shifter, open the bonnet and boot, and so on. That would be excellent.
So many things that seem simple yet they don't do it for some reason, especially proximity chat or a freemode city track instead of the main menu.
I've been a fan for a long time and congratulations on all your success.
as PC VR flight simmer / racing simmer, I'm SO excited for a big audience to get into VR sims. it's such a great gaming experience
Man I love the cockpit view, makes the racing so much more intense to watch
I use just regular controller and that camera settting
The Sony VR2 in GT& is my first try with VR. I'm blown away, it is so much fun, I love it. I do have a hard time getting it adjusted and minimizing the blurring. I cannot imagine how much work went in to sourcing all the detailed interiors, it's amazing.
That experience looks so cool! I want a VR set up now.
Glad to see people doing this, played this a lot with my friend, PSVR is not bad, racing in VR though? Nothing like it, so much better.
You should totally do the really difficult last few license tests with VR
Wet spa with the 917k 😮💨
5:26 Easier for everyone, it's not a black hole you're driving into, you can see the walls all the way in and you can see the terrain out of the other end instead of all white before you exit.
Great video Steve! You should make more videos with the VR, that thing looks AMAZING!
its amazing the eye tracking.
Great video
Gotta say the rain in VR in GT7 looks amazing
I think it's the mirrors that really impressed me. Having to look at them while driving is another aspect that could make daily races more challenging and fun.
Maybe try a night race to see how the lights reflect off the mirrors?
The hdr for lights reflecting off the mirrors is supposed to be really well done and very bright at night like it is irl
It's really cool and really immersive, can you do some VR daily race videos on your channel, I think it would be really cool.
Haven’t watched the channel in a while but was waiting to see you cover this in VR
this is so cool, would love to see more of this, along with irl content
I’ve been debating on getting a ps5 with the vr racing set up and gran Turismo 7. This video may have just sealed the deal, because this is exactly how I imagined it.
Do IT If u Love Gran Turismo or driving in General!
Amazing, just had my first race in vr2, mind.....blown.
Talking about the elevation changes makes me want to see you tackle Bathurst. It’s looking more and more like I’m about to buy psvr because it looks incredible
If love racing go for it
Hi Steve! Just wanted to let you know you were the one who got me into sim racing. And I blame you for making me poorer for having to get a dedicated sim rig, and now you’re making me go poorer again because I’m going to go get the PS VR2 just for GT7.
I’m having a blast though, so thanks! 🚙
Poorer but much happier!
Will you be doing VR races going forward? It looks insane!
I'm impressed that you can see through your headset when you're not playing the game. That's good design. I can't see a thing when I'm wearing my old Oculus Rift.
I can’t believe we went from PS1 GT to this Real Life Racing Sim
Technology has come a long way!
This!!
Actually held my hand in front of my face to shadow the sun at Red Bull Ring it’s that immersive. Love it.
You should definitely do more videos in VR, that's cool.
VR has made me so much more consistent with my laps. The depth of feeling and gauging when to brake is so much more intuitive. Also just being able to look in the direction of an upcoming corner is huge. Haven't played it enough to say it's made me faster, but it definitely feels like I am.
Remember that the PSVR2 uses Foveated Rendering, so you can actually see which part of the screen Steve's eyes are focused on.
I've never been envious of PlayStation players, it was always pc gamers.
Now I am envious of both PlayStation and pc gamers.
I genuinely think it's time for me to jump ship.
I would like to see you try the McLaren F1 for that middle driving position in VR
Very cool to see the "fov"iated rendering in action. You can get an idea of where you're looking by seeing what's clear on the screen, and what's a bit more pixelated. I'm sure that when you're playing you don't notice the blurr.
The consistency mate, unreal
4 videos in 3 days. Absolutely unreal
@@Super_GT and not one sixth place in the lot. What’s going on?
I'm blown away by the quality. Even the pass through is crisp. My Quest 2 on PC with a 2070 super doesn't even look this good.
You should try Mount Panorama (Bathurst) in a Gr. 3 car with VR. That would be incredible
I've been playing Assetto Corsa on PC for a couple years now and it makes me soooooo excited to see a big devs like PD and Codemasters offering VR support. I would love if VR could become an industry standard option for players in all racing games.
Yea, I still think the current version on AC (CSP/content manager/Sol) is the gold standard for sims and especially VR.
So excited to see online races with this
Nordschleife in GT7 PSVR2 is incredible.
I need VR in my life 🕹
It's INSANE. Get 4 thumpers and an hdmi / optical out splitter. Hook up an amp to drive the thumpers and play then on your seat, peds and wheel. Next level.
This is the video I've been waiting for. I wanna decide here whether is worth to get PSVR2 for GT7. So far if SuperGT approves, I'll get it
This is actually insane it looks so good I need it
Can you do the spa 1 hour race? Would be good to see how the weather feels
I dont think video will ever do VR justice, the experience of racing in VR adds the sense of proximity and speed that takes gaming to the next level. I bought the oculus rift s when it first released and on the verge of looking to update my setup, not a big console player though so not sure if I want to go this route.
He finally joined the VR party 👌
From all the vids I've seen on gt7, I love your vid's the most
This is absolutely awesome, forza is gonna have a hard time competing with this...
I'll (hopefully) be ordering mine tomorrow just for this game, so excited
Can’t wait to play this tomorrow 🤩
the graphics jump from GT Sport on PSVR 1 to GT7 on PSVR2 is crazy
Was waiting 5 years for this omg worth the wait
If you all wondering if in the headset this looks as good as on flat screen the answer is: YES , played 3 hours today, It's actually shocking how good this is.
Honestly no games interest me other than GT7 but I feel like the OLED would be an upgrade from my TV and that alone has me interested
Is it more accommodating for eyeglasses?
@@CJW0056lot reviews Said yes
no it doesn't lol
No it's not. The cars are blurry when they get a few car lengths away. Tell me if you can read the number plate of a car more than 1 car length away from you. Inside the car is amazing & sharp though.
I was waiting for your video on this. It's cool they sent you one. You're the man at this. This video is fire bro 🙌
This looks incredible. I suppose the question is will this be your preferred way of playing the game in future or do you see it as a fun gimmick to try once in a while, with the TV and bonnet cam remaining optimal?
If you get your vr legs it is vastly superior, sense of depth being a major factor.
You'll be a lot faster in VR, when you get used to it, bet VR takes over the eSports scene.
It’s absolutely the superior way to play. It’s no comparison really.
So cool! Take a cabriolet to trial mountain. I love the trees on that level. Happy gaming Steve. And thanks for sharing this.
I think Xbox is really losing out on not having a VR headset. This looks awesome!
Nice little VR demonstration for us, good sir. And by the way, I'm a few months in now I guess as a subscriber to your channel, and I believe this is the first that I've seen you race/play without voice over narration. 👍✌️
