The fact that they raced with this visibility in real life is incredible
I'd think it would be a bit easier in real life at night because in the game the AI's headlights don't do anything but yeah

The visibility was actually much worse in some ways, but better in others....
Firstly, when the track mists up in the dark due to rain hammering down and meeting a cold air front your actual visibility distance is massively shortened for actual detail, but, thanks to the fact that by the 1980's all cars had reasonably bright rear lights, you could still make out an "object" from a distance and typically your team would do it's best to let you know what car it is likely to be by tracking the other cars on the race in their own individual ways, or at times, by talking to other teams
Despite it being a competition their is still a comradery between the mechanics and drivers, and if you ran a similar car to another team who needed a part and you had one sometimes teams would give each other parts to keep fellow teams in the race, it has made for interesting racing at times!
At the end of the day, regardless of what team you race in you all want every driver to come home alive at the finish line, so theirs an element of unspoken outlook of drivers looking out for one another.
These days the flags/track side lights are used to indicate when you should move to the side to let faster cars pass without incident, but that hasn't always been the case.
I think irl human eyes will adjust even more when it is this dark, that the visiblility should be slightly better than that of VR.

@@schonkat1982 I like it, I know where he is looking, more action, the only trouble can be a bit shakey footage, but with racing it's okay, it's worse when you watch VR drifting, it can get so shakey you can't even look at it. But racing is fine, I understand your opinion though everyone is different.

I like how the headlights from the cars behind you light up the interior of your car. The immersion is real!
Yeah, the VR truly highlights how insane the level of detail is in this game. In the Sauber Mercedes C9, the metal cockpit even reflects the colour of racing suit you’re wearing!

This has done more to make me want a VR rig than anything I have ever seen. That darkness is terrifying at that speed, especially in traffic.
When racing in VR with no HUD, it all comes down to feel. Sensing the speed, feeling the braking power, hearing the grip loss. Minus the motion rig it's so good! I always get nervous and race cautiously during the dark in the 24hr LeMans. When chasing, I feel more comfortable, but when there are no other racers around it get's sketchy. Something I'm trying to overcome by spending more time racing in the dark with no HUD. Just need to memorize this track better. You are fantastic in this race. The confidence is inspiring. Kudos.
Woah, you can actually see the eye tracking going to work in this video. Notice the mirrors, when he isn’t looking at them they’re all jagged and low quality but as soon as he does they jump back to full quality goodness. Impressive stuff
If only Sony would make this PC compatible for my PC sims too I'd buy one in a heartbeat... and PC sim racers would then also be tempted to buy a PS5.
Sim racers like me who only bought a PS5 for GT7 in the first place don't want to buy a VR headset for just one game too. I bought an expensive Logitech G Pro steering wheel and that tempted me to get the PS5 in the first place!
But at least I can use the G Pro/Pedals on both PC and PS5 systems for the price and capability. VR is the same kind of purchase as an expensive direct drive wheel.
Polyphony digital is Sony first party studio don't think it will come to pc
@@olavofernandes7286 Insomniac is also first party and both Spiderman games came to PC. so did god of war and zero dawn if I remember correctly. As well as other exclusives im sure
i always love gran turismo for these details, the vibe is insane, everyone laughing at them for the accurate stars and astronomy feature, they did it first in GT6 with the focus on stars and even moon gravity to let you feel what if you were to drive a car on the moon, the scenery was always a special one for gran turismo

I managed a 5:32 lap in the Porsche 919 Hybrid yesterday, there is absolutely no way I could have done that without VR. The Ring is exceptional in VR with a DD wheel
You can see the foveated rendering in action. It's surprising how it reacts quickly to where you can tell he's looking.
Hydroplaning after the Mulsanne Straight was great. Lol. Sounded genuinely fun all around.

Oh man, the night lighting looks really good, I played Project CARS VR back in the Oculus CV1 days, I know YT doesn't do justice for what you are really experiencing. VR has come a long way, now you can have the whole setup for around $1000 and you don't have to mess around with bases/sensors.
This is exactly the type of content I’m after. I’m really weighing up whether or not to fork out for the VR2 and this video has just helped me make my mind up. Can’t wait now 👏🏻
Jeez some next level immersion here, i didn't want to get a psvr2(i have an occulus quest 2) but seeing how insane this looks i might just have to bite the bullet just for gt7, just from a viewing perspective this looks insane i can't even begin to imagine how it is with the actual vr2

Would be cool if they gave you the option to have radio communication with the pit crew, similar to the F1 games/ I racing. To be able to ask what position you’re in, tyre gradient, weather other card positions around you and lap times etc. This would be especially great when using vr, as you said at the start there’s no hud to feed you the info. Would need a mic/headset, but would also highly improve the experience.
At a glance this looks like a pov of a real race. Crazy looking graphics.

You'll love it mate. Before I got PSVR2, I had only used VR twice but I'm absolutely loving it.
If they added weekly race with no hud, vr only, 15 laps and 10x day night cycle.
Once night felli could imagine myself quitting after every turn you expertly navigated. Then when the rain came without rain tires I would have quit again. Truly incredible.

You want the authentic VR article race on vanilla tires with road cars. You won't be nearly as fast but it actually feels like your driving a real car.
Do you think GT7 should add a race engineer? I think someone talking to you with no HUD would be insane for immersion. Maybe they can Just call lap, crashes, weather, position etc. Just not sure how they would handle pit stop strategy with tyres and fuel.... Maybe skip it? I love that player choice creates multiple strategies in GT7, if AI starts calling pit stops it'll be the end of this

VR immersion mode does expose a weakness of GT7. But it could be patched. Crew chatter to let you know times and position. Maybe a spotter. Or at the least as you pass through pit straight, hanging boards out with time and position.
I want this so bad! Unfortunately i'd need to upgrade to a PS5 and then also buy the headset...Ooof. Fun fact PSVR2 has eye tracking. It increases the resolution based on where you are looking. You really notice it on the side mirrors when he's looking ahead. Cool stuff.

I do have the ps4 with the OG PSVR and T150 but setting it up is a pain and I already broke 1 of my wheels driving the T-hawk X on route x still don't know how but it lost ability to calibrate, Also the slicks in the rain is downright impossible for most cars in the game even 4WD are junk in a down pour.
I know Horizon 5 isn't your thing, but they have a weekly event named Shadow realm. The car restriction is super GT. I thought you'd like to know.
one of the older Gran Turismo games, in the early 2000's had the 12 or 24hr races, & i did this track in a 12 or 24hr race, it was horrible. i raced for an hour or two & said hell no

Gran Turismo 7 in VR is perfection. Can't go back to racing in 2D. This is PlayStation.
24 hours @ 200 mph is 4,800 miles they drive in the Le Mans without a break down.
Can You please do this in the Toyota Supra GT 500 or or the Nissan R92CP or the Nissan Skyline Siluette cause they have amazing Cockpit views and Engine Sounds.
Imagine driving the Red Bull around the Nordschleife in VR. Must be absolutely dizzying

As someone who does not yet have the ability to get a PS5 and PSVr2, understand that you are absolutely feeding a new addiction. Please keep making these, I could watch all day! Man, that looked so fun...
Just keep your expectations in check. What you're seeing in these videos is actually better then what you see in the psvr2. The graphical fidelity is lower in the psvr2, plus there's the mura effect which is like having a faint see through veil over the lense that sometimes isn't noticeable, but sometimes it is.
I'm not a hater, I have the psvr2 and I love it. Just don't want you to be disappointed if you do end up getting it. 🙂

This finally hits the levels; heck, I'm more worried how uncomfortable it'll be after hours of play because -there will be hours.- haha!
@Fall-Neck the Tallneck I don't actually agree with that. The experience is much better inside the VR headset than on the video.
Yes, graphics quality is better on the video but that isn't the ultimate goal of VR. Immersion and the depth you get when actually using thr headset makes it better, there's no doubt avoid that.
@@Super_GT OH no, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it's not immersive. What I'm seeing in a lot of places is people who havent used vr before expecting a crisp 4k display, because it's being advertised as 4k and getting disappointed by the visuals when they receive their unit.
Immersion wise it's amazing though. I'll never forget going into vr mode for the first time during a race.
I love showing these vids to my dad to show how far sim games have come. This kinda stuff is just mind-boggling to watch.
