Ive done alot of driving in the suzuki, 20-25% is optimum shift. You can save so so much fuel with this car and lose only a tiny amount of pace its amazing
It's actually faster shifting at that point since the power curve dips quickly past 10,700 rpm. :D I always thought the VGT sucked 'til I realized shifting earlier did it best both in fuel economy and performance hahaha!
Just recently discovered your channel after getting PS5 and GT7 for Christmas (starting at age 52). I'm currently building out a budget cockpit with G29 and Playseat Challenge. It's basic but I'm loving it. Still getting to grips with GT7 (last GT I drove was GT5 on PS3). I'm really enjoying your commentary and quips about the track shenanigans during the race and the the little lessons on how to drive, fuel and tire strategy and so on. I'm learning a lot. Thanks for that and you have a new sub!
Right there with you, same set up and really enjoying it so far, Santa however delivered the Xbox version of the G29 rather than the Playstation version....the silly idiot. So looking forward to the new Forza game coming out
If you really get into it, and want to upgrade later on, the Logitech G Pro Direct Drive wheel is just awesome. I've had mine for a month after owning a G25 and G29 for over 15 years and it has improved my times, which is amazing after so many years of experience
@phunkdoctaspock it's expensive, but in my opinion the extra money is felt immediately. The quality is exceptional and to use it, it's an absolute dream. Being able to swap between 5 profiles at the touch of a button is so so nice in GT7 when you are swapping cars so much. I have presets ranging from factory stock cars with light steering and brakes, up to manual steering race cars. Incredibly precise and smooth, with enough feedback to give your arms and shoulders a workout. It's glorious.
I always mindlessly play GT7 when I feel like it, but then get bored from not having too much fun. It's always when watching you videos that I want to go back to playing the game seriously, competitively, but also not taking it too seriously. You make me see that this game can be genuinely enjoyable and realistic if you put in the patience, time and dedication. I hope to get better though, for I always lose patience and go over the car's limits!
Ease on the assist. Each car has a different balance and behaviour. If you actually like cars and driving, you’ll get a thrill from squeezing performance out of knowing a machine.
@@BastianUllr I really do, however I sometimes think that some cars rely too much on proper tuning, which sometimes gets in the way of a proper driving enjoyment. I don't mind learning about tuning, but some cars I try to improve become simply undrivable, and I end up not using them anymore, from not being able to fix it.
"Do you remember when Suzuki made the most OP car in the game? Pepperidge Farm remembers". The guys at the factory must have had some Escudo engines lying around and they just put it on the VGT.
I love the VGT a lot! I'm also signed up for Suzuki this season just to give it a try. The VGT sure handles weird compared to most FR Gr. 3 race cars but damn that top-end is super! I always thought the VGT sucked at first due to the poor fuel economy and dying power at the top 'til I realized it was actually great (even better than many Gr. 3 cars) when you shift optimally below the halfway point at the rev counter.
It still cracks me up with the fact that Deep Forest Raceway is located in Switzerland In a country that banned motorsport after the 1955 Le Mans Disaster.
i have 2016 Suzuki swift with the mild hybrid setup. Its not the fastest in a straights line but it absolutely eats up a back road. Suzuki did a great job with the chassis.
Hello Super GT! Today its my birthday, can you give me a hi? I have followed you since your fm6 days, I love your dry humor, thanks for the laughs all these years 😃
Steve, regarding on staying with the Porsche or any other vs Suzuki(15:07)fuel mixture advantage/hp power, there are the other Key Factors in which you were doing...The draft/Slipstreaming.. like you said this can save some fuel, another.. quick shifting(no over rev)better powere band can save fuel also. Another idea? upgraded adjustable transmission if available and if race permitted. Ugh the ominous Penalty! For sure you would had gotten a better podium finish(1st place) but this was your first try driving the Suzuki. Anyways ... Great Video, Good Job Securing 3rd Podium Finish ! 🤟🤟 ps YESSS We will miss ..Ken Block..Rest In Peace !🙏🙏
Deep Forest reverse is not just the better option, it's actually one of my favorite track layouts this game has. I don't know why but it is so much fun to drive really. It's like it was intended from the beginning to go that way instead. Very strange...
I don't play GT7 but I was surprised to see this was the reverse track. Watching the video I would never have guessed. I bet that hairpin is a nightmare for divebombs on the forward layout.
3:30 I was thinking this while watching you go through qualifying.. It's similar to motorcycles, where using only about 3/4 of the rev range gets you the most efficient laps because it keeps you in the power band for longer. I had a suspicion that this car would want to act the same due to the manufacturer.. 😂
I've had my eye on this car. It reminded me of the concept car way back in gt3. That car was phenomenal. Don't remember the manufacturer but I think it was Suzuki and looked a lot like this one.
I think people just use the meta car because they see everyone else doing it. Not because whatever car is meta at the moment is truly THAT much faster than all the other cars. People just lack imagination so they pick what everyone else is picking. I think on any given track you can usually make at least 3 cars work if you actually wanted to, people just follow the herd.
Good job. i was watching Wind do this race the other day and before the start of the race he puts it into lean mix 6 and the fuel goes up to 93 laps but came back to about 21 or so
Nice vid, omg this game has come along way since I played the first Gran Turismo. My favourite car was the FTO Limited Edition. Have they carried it onto GT7
I really enjoyed this. I know from their motorcycles, Suzuki makes great engines. This car even sounds like a bike. Very pleasant to hear. And great driving.
Shifting at the horsepower peak of the engine is always optimal, as long as you don't drop below torque peak on the shift. If it does drop too low, the solution is changing ratio, either in the gearbox or differential. It seemed like you were shifting somewhere in between peak torque and peak horsepower. There might be some time to gain there by changing your shift points.
Happy New year 😁 Excellent progression through the field, had you been armed with the knowledge of the short shift prior to quali I feel certain that you would have been fighting for the win or actually winning, GG 👏 Like deployed 👍 😎🎙🏎✅️
Hey Steve, I just got GT7, first foray into sim racing on console. I've been a wheel user for two years on PC, and I feel I'd be faster if I had a wheel on PS5 as well, But is it worth buying another wheel for GT7? Gran Turismo seems to have a very long lifespan if the last couple games are anything to go by. Thanks, love your content as usual, hope you had a good new years.
As an IRL Swift Sport driver I welcome you to the Suzuki team, I recommend a back brace because the concept of suspension is not within Suzuki's grasp just yet.
when i used to play the older gran turismo games, 2 i think in the early 2000's, i liked the cultus. the escudo was way faster, but it was silly OP. of course gaming was a different thing back then
Dude. I loaded up the Audi 07 R8. PP 760s. It was killing Gr3 cars and was like driving a Ninja motorbike. Insane and impossible to control. I was in 3rd for most of Nurburgring
Cheers mate, I had a bad race, the game is broken I recieved a 3 sec penalty just for avoiding an accident but at least i'm in the miniature of the video 😂💪😃😃

Quite incredible
Same with the Gr.4 swift. Change at about 6k, save fuel, still go fast. Little secret weapons. Well not now😂

So you can save fuel and go even faster? That’s ridiculous

that camera view on the Suzuki is delightful! I wish other cars had that!
GT7 would improve dramatically with a few more views.
This car had no roof so they just put it behind the bonnet.
I’m so glad Polyphony decided to add the “Shadow Realm” feature. It was a much needed one for the series.
Fun fact: if you change gears at 10k rpm, this Suzuki becames a bullet, so fast in straights and not too unstable at the corner exit.
“I can already envision the champagne” best line ever 🤣

I was fully expecting Steve to bottle it a few seconds after the comment.

I think you will also find that a car with poor aero like the Suzuki (open top) will benefit more from the slipstream than a car with good aero.
