Now I understand how my dad looked at me driving on a flat screen and was like never mind I'm not even going to try this.😂

Depends, there are pros and cons to both. No headset yet meets the FOV and image quality you can get with a good set of triples. But nothing puts you in the car like being in the 3D world of VR. I chose VR but it’s a personal preference thing.

what a bunch of bs xD, I've a 4070 super with the quest3 and it's at least a decade away from having a decent quality image lol. And by the time that will be good you could have 3x 4k monitors running with 165hz with prob a 7090
it's def fun to experience VR, and I often use it over a high qual image, but acting like it's some holy grail is nuts xd

@@Bankai90 I use a quest 2 with a 2080 super and 9900ks. The image quality is definitely not a decade away from 1440p. I’m wondering if you have the resolution turned down in the oculus software because by all accounts I’ve heard the quest 3 has very good image quality. Check your settings because the software can be deceiving, you actually have to have the resolution at 1.5x to render the full resolution because VR requires the pc to not only render what’s on the screen but also an area around the screen to ensure that the image is there when you turn your head. If you have the resolution set to the actual display resolution you are actually not rendering the full display resolution. In order for me to run the headset at full resolution and still have good graphics settings in game I use the oculus debug tool to reduce the vertical FOV to 50%. It blacks out the top and bottom 25% of the screen and is hardly noticeable, just feels a bit more like wearing a helmet. The difference in performance is astronomical though since I’m only running half the original pixels. If I sit still and focus on the screen I can see the pixels and aliasing of diagonal lines, however when actually racing I don’t notice any difference from 1440p. For reference I have 20/20 vision.

You don’t need to watch a video to tell you that. Just look at the price tags… if you just want the cheapest VR racing experience get a used quest 2 and run assetto corsa on a cheap used PC… will it be as good as psvr2? No, but it’s cheaper. Same story with psvr2 and gt7 vs a high end headset on a high end pc running a proper sim. You pay more for better quality obviously. The point of this video was to say what is best. Not what is cheapest…

@@WrittlesCave I’m happy for you and glad you found something to have fun with in sim racing! You’re right that gt7 is more of a driving game than a sim. This video was to discuss graphical superiority and as Kireth said the high end pc option looks closer to real life. Some of us find great pleasure in trying to get our virtual experience so match reality as closely as possible. Whatever you have fun with is great!

    • @alecmillea4539
      @alecmillea4539 3 месяца назад +1

@@WrittlesCave In relation to your question of what is a simulator compared to a driving game. The goal of a driving game is to be a video game for the purpose of fun driving. This means that it’s likely not going to try and mimic reality as closely as it could in order for it to be more accessible and easier for the average person to pick up and have fun with. A driving simulator is only concerned with mimicking real car physics and dynamics as closely as possible.
      What difference results?
People who have trained on a real driving simulator can transfer those skills directly into real life driving. The inputs and feel through the steering is the same. The brake inputs are the same. The throttle application and resulting action of the car all behave the same. This is why almost all racing drivers use simulators for training purposes.
The goal of simulator racing is to have everything match reality as closely as possible for maximum transferability to real life. No platform is perfect but listening to real drivers many simulators such as AC ACC iRacing and RF2 are close enough to be effective training. Games like Forza and GT7(better) are not close enough to be useful. They are just played for fun. Even games can still teach a lot though. Like driving lines and basic technique.

Awesome comparison 🙂 I only have the PSVR 2 myself and I agree with you 100% when you say they have greatly improved the visual quality in the headset since launch! I spent like an entire year researching on which VR to get and I've come to the conclusion that nothing is even in the same ballpark as the PS VR2 simply because of the consistency in quality top-tier developed game selection. There is just so many more games that are of such high quality that you have access to with the PS VR2 that you don't with any other headset. One cost $500 and the other's going to cost you at least $5,000. Sure a PC VR can do much more and is capable of much more but it's going to lack the community, the race quality, the selection of games. The only way I could justify going PCVR is if I was a developer. If iracing comes out with VR I really hope They make PSVR2 compatibility somehow

    • @oRicardoHetfield

Nah man no way, PCVR is much better than PSVR2... Its a pain to setup PCVR sometimes, depending on what headset you have but its so much worth it!
I just can't believe that he is comparing Pimax with PSVR2... Pimax is prohibitively expensive(a mess to setup as well), but the quality in image and lenses clarity is unmatched and he doesn't mention anything...
You can also buy a Oculus Quest 2 for 250€ and have the same or better quality as PSVR2, not to mention that you have on PC OG Assetto Corsa with mods that is probably the best VR experience you can have in any racing game...
Hes is doing more like a review between ACC vs GT7/PCVR2 vs Pimax than PCVR vs PSVR2...

If it's racing games you are into PSVR2 only has GT7 and will not likely get any others. Even PSVR1 only had GT Sport (partial support), Dirt Rally 1 and Driveclub VR. PCVR has at least 12 racing titles that I can think of off the top of my head and pretty much all of the same none racing titles like, Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, Synth Riders etc. Also your prices are way off on PCVR. I have PSVR1 and 2, and a Quest 2 that I only use on the PC, none of those stand alone Quest games. They are both great but if you could only afford 1 system and racing games/sims is your jam you gotta go PC just so many titles support PCVR.

@@elbowsout6301 nah 5000 is Right on point if you want to be at PSVR2 quality and clarity and smoothness. You will need a 4000 or higher gpu, plus a headset, and those other racing titles are not optimized for specific headsets or GPUs and they are all blotchy and none of them are smooth... As of right now Gran Turismo 7 is the only playable VR racing game that doesn't make you nauseous and actually feels right and that's because it has the most development. But a 4,000 series GPU and a headset that is equivalent to a PS VR2... That's 3k minimum not even including the wheel, pedals, rig etc.. and the games you have access to are not optimized for whatever headset you have lol.. Not to mention you have to set it up for everything you play It's not just turn it on and go. And even when you do find something decent to drive in that's not Gran Turismo there's nobody else playing it It's just you so there's no community and there's no racing It's just you and Sims which is boring. You really don't have any other options for optimized performance and a racing community other than the PS VR2. I have tried a lot of different headsets with a lot of different setups and nothing even comes within the ballpark. I also think it has something to do with people not wanting to admit they waste their money and their setups aren't as good as what a cheap Sony setup gets you lol.. It would piss me off too if I spent five or $7,000 on a rig and computer setup And there was absolutely nothing I could do to give it to the quality of PS VR2 with Gran Turismo 7 because of the exclusivity lol.. You can spend $10,000 on the most latest and greatest headset with the most latest and greatest computer and still not compared to the quality and community and development put into Gran Turismo 7 when paired with a PS VR2 lol... PC guys really need to get over the fact that there is no comparison lol. It's called math. Smaller numbers in price larger numbers in community.

I have a PSVR 2 with GT 7 and a Logitech DD wheel and load cell pedal set. Although awesome, it’s not the ultimate VR experience for me, at least not anymore. Rather, that title now goes to the wireless Quest 3 sim racing set up I also have. The big difference is the incredible pancake lenses on the Quest 3. They are a game changer, since they essentially eliminate the sweet spot and provide edge to edge clarity and exceptional colors. Coupled with my Accuforce DD wheel and HE sprint pedals with load cell brake, I think that is the ultimate experience, at least for me. No wires and sweet spot really makes all the difference.

Weird take, with 4080 and capable CPU to match you can take any rando sim racing title put it on High preset and run 120/60 reprojection maxing out resolution of something like Quest3. Money aside, this requires no more effort than lunching game on a console. If you do however want to tinker you can easily get titles like AMS2, modded AC to run at true 120hz and look super sharp which makes GT7/PSVR2 experience a sort of a joke in comparison.

Acc vr experience is horrible too. I know iR doesn't tick all the boxes but it's a far better experience in VR (especially when paired with almalance)

What VR settings are you using in ACC? I use a Quest 3 with a 4090 PC and I have to use up my magical wishes to make it run to something as smooth as my PSVR2. Yes ACC can be run at higher resolution but the dropped frames when things get hectic at a corner is just immersion-breaking and can result in an unfavourable outcome. GT7 just runs so buttery smooth in PSVR2

I’m thinking of the same thing, ACC is always glitching all over the place and is real holographic, Also 4090.

To make this comparison you HAVE to include the price.....the PSVR2 and a PS5 is about $1000....The Pimax alone without the high end Pc is $1500 including the Pc its easily over 3000......so you're looking at triple the price

For the entry price difference, I would expect that the Pimax Crystal to win, beefy PC, would mean a beefy graphics card, we're talking GBP 1.5k+, then about same for the rest of the PC.. call it GBP4.5k including head set....

As to why GT7 in PSVR isn’t 120hz, because realistically, the PS5 isn’t capable of running GT7 at 120hz without a massive degradation in quality

Advice, you are doing a disservice when you are making a comparative guide not using the same track, cars or whatever. Other than the rain, they look about the same. Hence you must use the same elements. Logic and common sense mate. Thanks for making the video anyway, but sort of inconclusive

Dude, your technical race break downs are great and how to take corners etc. But please learn tech, hardware and graphics before talking about graphical and hardware things. You’re unintentionally misinforming people. You did it here and in the Nurburgring Forza video… I know most of your primary watchers won’t care.. and you are using a lot of generalizations. But from a tech standpoint they are not correct t generalizations.
Example: the reprojection on PSVR 2 adding blurriness on psvr2. That’s not what’s adding blurriness… that’s foveated rendering for where your eyes are looking so it can properly run the screen at 120hz to the headset, and focus on what the user is looking at to keep that part sharp. It’s not as dramatic with the headset on because your eyes don’t focus on that part… it’s a trick yea.. but it’s an effective trick.
Also.. if AC on PS5 had PSVR2 support, its graphics would probably be similar to GT7 for things like rain rendering. AC on PC is taking full advantage of your overpriced hardware you said you bought. Because you said you didn’t fully understand it all. Which is fine. I appreciate the honesty. But you’re breaking my brain with the “tech” generalizations and how wrong they are. You’re a smart dude. Please run your “tech tips” by someone. Maybe some super nerds in your discord community. Please.

No offence (I can see you are a long term subscriber), but reprojection does add perceived blurriness 100%. I interpolate footage on a daily basis so I know exactly what I'm looking at here. Foveated rendering adds a dithering effect but it's basically irrelevant in the headset because by design you are not looking at it.
My hardware isn't overpriced, I use it on a daily basis to produce these videos for you.
Very happy to hear what you have to say about specific technical differences between the two setups if you have any (you didn't provide any in this comment except incorrect statements about reprojection).

    • @MrSynyster182
      @MrSynyster182 3 месяца назад

@@Kireth the hardware itself isn’t overpriced, if you bought it and built it yourself…well, GPUs are overpriced for everything right now… but that’s another discussion… but reprojection at the end of the day is not the main source of blurriness seen on psvr2. That’s more the fresnel lenses mixed with everything you’re not looking at in the foveated rendering. All running down to limitation of the hardware. Limitations that a 2022+ top end CPU from intel or AMD mixed with a 4090ti would never have. Really the drawback of your setup is how big that headset is. But that’s not what I’m worried about. That’s a pimax problem. lol. And don’t misunderstand me. Reprojection is a part of it. It’s not 100%. If anything it’s helping in the case of the ps5 hardware. Something your CPU/GPU combo on the pc is not going to be limited by. Take the Pimax and hook up to my pc with a 1080ti and I’d have to use the same reprojection tools. Probably not on my system with a 3070ti.
Oh and Glass Aspheric Lens is way sharper looking compared to Fresnel for the user. Everything being foveated by the PS in your video. Despite being lower res… was pretty sharp in your video. Obvious indirect things pixelate but I could always tell where you were looking in the headset. Those parts were pretty sharp. Even for the limited hardware and it felt like you just ignored that and called it all blurry. But for the user the fresnel will and should look blurrier.
I think, constructively speaking, in your attempt to generalize for the audience. Nuance of information gets lost. Information that can be very critical and fair to people looking at buying these products. Putting a GoKart or Mazda Miata like the PS5 vs the AlienWare SuperFormula/Diesel Truck depending on logic… can be interesting depending on scenario but leaving things out about Assetto Corsa likely having to lower rendering setting to run similarly on PSVR if it actually supported it. Be fair about the why.
The new Tempest system in iRacing for example. Probably gonna be an issue for people even with modern hardware if they don’t have the RAM or more specifically an AI processor on their system, either in the CPU or GPU… even ones that do, the lower end hardware like 3060s and below could have an interesting time. And probably also why, if iRacing does ever make it to consoles.. that system likely won’t be in the sim on said consoles til hardware refreshes with GPU/CPUS that have the AI processors…
I love the channel. But sometimes the not elaborating on what something means technically.. and using generalizations for things with more nuance and specifically being fair to both or the tech and limitations or why the limitations exist. That’s what gets me.
Nurburgring Forza video.. I’d be willing to bet that PDs work on the car rendering, since that level of detail enters the world wherever the cars go… this something PD could fix.. if they chose too.. but that LOD is carried everywhere the cars go.. so our 20-16 cars per race.. likely a limitation on the hardware due to the LOD they keep on for the cars in a live race. In VR drive next to a car with a race fuel adapter… you can read the text on the adapter in the race if close enough to the car… along with details in cars lights etc… in a live race, especially in VR this is not necessary. But it’s there. That’s the more likely answer to the stands being fairly spartan in GT7. With or without using VR. I’d argue VR exacerbates it. Then look at Forza and see models clearly pulled from earlier versions and given a slight facelift. The lights are always dead give away. But other things too. Unless in the garage, the LOD on cars aside your own are slightly lowered. Which is fine when doing 180mph down a straight with the world zipping by. Forzas team put the resources into making the world feel alive in Forza and PD put the resources into track quality and car quality. I’m sure physics engines are also at play. I also joked with your comment about tree line in GT vs Forza that “god, kaz… resources spent on cars, track itself, physics and apparently tree lines too now.. but god forbid the world actually feel alive.. sorry if I came off strong this morning. Some other life crap is effecting my mood and I just need to get a handle on it.. >

I think a lot of the psvr2 hype is cope. While I agree gt7 is great, you simply cannot have an experience like ams2 or ac with pure + vr and no reprojection. The cost difference between a ps5 and pc is much smaller than cost difference between sim gear, so I'd recommend an upgrade on computing hardware before going for wheel upgrades
