I still drive my 2009 Scion xB, special edition (I think it might be series 6) in absolute RED. Over 300 thousand miles and still going strong.

I actually have a 2009 Scion xB that I bought new, and it has over 185,000 miles. I had a film put on the hood when it was new to prevent those chips on the front. It's just starting to peel, so I have to get it redone. My antenna is also broken - I think from brushing snow off the top of the car every winter. And I'm a tall person (5'11") - I like to have my short friends get in and try to reach the rear view mirror! LOL The backseats are also roomy - not just for kids or short people to sit in. Mine is an automatic, and I always keep the armrest up out of the way. Keep an eye on your oil - the xB's have a tendency to "eat" oil (my oil light usually flashes around 3,000 miles after an oil change - they are supposed to go 5,000 miles between changes) - I usually keep a couple of quarts in the back, just in case. Also, check to make sure the last owner had the airbag recall taken care of (Takata Airbags). You should also have two cup holders in the back that fold down from the center. :) And be prepared to explain to people that it only has one reverse light when they stop you to say you have one out! LOL Enjoy your xB!!

I bought a 2011 xB 4 years ago with 96,000 miles on it and it has it has been very reliable. I have the same pitting problem on the front hood, I bought touch up paint in a bottle from a toyota dealership and touch up the pits with it and it looks fine. My xB had 3 previous owners and was imported through Canada. I wish I had the manual transmission.

I have a 2015 manual model. Fun to drive. Well made. I only have 32k, looking forward to many many many years of service. I think I am getting a front mask from Le Bra or similar soon. It has a few light chips so far. Rear C pillar rear view is sort of crummy, but otherwise not any blind spots. They use these as Taxis, I see them with 300k often.

I recently purchased a 14 year old 2009 xB with 124. 000 miles on it and it runs strong has the TRD springs and sway bars and strut tower brace. It corners like a a sports car and it seems to be lowered a bit. I am one of the short guys another was talking about who can't reach the rear view mirror. The alternator was replaced according to carfax. My mechanic says the clutch in the pulley goes out sometimes. I am really liking the car. I am a professional school bus driver for over 13 years and really like the change of pace from the bus to the xB. The car came with a light brown tinted front clip on deflector that seems to keep rocks from hitting the hood. The rear window has the air deflector that helps to keep the rear window clear. It does not have heated mirrors like my bus.

Nice review. Personally, I wouldn't bother repainting the hood. It's a nice car but It's a 180,000 mile car. I bought a 2008 a few weeks ago and like it. I found out about the oil consumption issue after purchasing. Had I known that I may not have bought it. The seller mentioned something about it and that the motor had been fixed but I didn't snap to what he was talking about. I haven't noticed any oil level change in about 500 miles. I check the oil in all my vehicles twice a month so if I need to I'll be topping it off as required.

You will be just fine with your xb. Just keep track of the oil level. I've owned my 2009 for twelve years and it's been a great car. I have thought about getting another car but the xb runs so well till I can't justify letting it go.

I did change motor oil, transmission service, new spark plugs, clean the oxygen sensor, clean throttle body, clean fuel injection, put the spoiler, new steering wheel, restored headlights, tint window, wax 4 times, car wash it every 5 days. Absolutely pristine condition interior and exterior. it's better condition than my dad's 2015 XB 47,000 miles. Look so new I think I would swap the usd motor if needed in the future. it will run 500,000 miles with original engine and transmission. I'm will continue to keep it up with the Mechanical and cosmetic condition. I think, It really worth that $5,400

Probably has another 50k in it, minimum. There shouldn't be water accumulating inside that driver-side headlamp.
Someone must have knocked off the rubber ducts in the backside that waterproof the headlamp housing. It's not something you can buy separately (hello junkyard). Just guessing based on my car - not like I have one of these Scions.
Of course, maybe the headlight housing just cracked apart at the seams, under impact of some sort.

Looks good and the prevalence of stone chips on the hood yoy may infer that the 180k miles were mostly highway and not city. That's a real good thing because as Scotty K says, highway usage is 30% of city, so maybe you got the equivalent of 50-60k miles....which is *nothing* for a Toyota or Honda. I see the misfit issue on the front bumper; should be same chips there too. The bumper is also a slightly different tint. The condensation in the headlight infers that it's an aftermarket replacement so I think the car was in a minor front-end wreck at one time needing a new bumper and a headlight. Nothing to worry about if it otherwise drives straight and true.

I change my oil every time it needs it. I don't have the engine light on. So don't know what it could be. But absolutely love the space and it's good in gas.
