I remember one of my first fights against the Librarian used a team of Plague Doctor/Jester/Grave Robber/Flagellant. I had already categorized the heroes, I'm sure he died admiring their positioning.
In the recent poll about whether you should focus on hero or enemy guides, I voted for hero guides. With this video, I realise that I actually needed enemy guides more, because I had absolutely no clue about the whole ignite mechanic that pretty much every sprawl enemy interacts with. I also didn't know how the categorise move worked and am glad that I do now. Seeing how much I learned about the enemies in the sprawl, I think the other regions will also very much be worthwhile. Something I was missing here however, is a mention of the boss trophy and perhaps even going over the region specific trinkets.
A very good guide! The two things I feel that could help is a "Why do you want to come here?" section and "What to equip," setion. Talk about what comps may want the boss trophies, what trinkets you can get out of here especially useful if you are able to give examples of early trinkets we may have unlocked vs late unlocks. The other section could be about what kind of combat items you would want in general or for specific fights. Like I saw someone put on things like Caltrops for the dreaming general for his vine, and I'd have never thought about that.
Great guide! I feel like the librarian is the easiest region boss. I also like to use flagellant because he can also blight and with 3 blight heroes and one big ranged damage guy like Dismas or Occultist he dies in about 5 turns.
I have discovered if you land the killing blow on a stack of books, he doesn’t get a free burning bright for destroying them. While this quickens the pace of the fight, it does mitigate damage and stress early in the fight when not all of your heroes can hit rank 4 or 3. Haven’t had issues doing this with most short range teams and seldom lose against him.
Is there a priority ranking for enemies in Sprawl? Feels like it'd be nice to have it if so. Also timestamp: Whipper - 1:40 Flayer - 2:42 Sacrificial - 3:45 Shaman - 4:45 Immolatist/Her lady ship - 5:56 Pit Fighter - 7:42 Librarian (Lair boss) - 8:43
I do : (high priority first) -Immolationnist/her lady ship (because buffs, healing ability and raw damages) -shaman and flayer (because annoying as fuk when ignited) -sacrificial (because by this time, they usually are in rank 2, but i prioritize them before shaman and flayer if i didn't had the opportunity to soften them with cleaves like plague grenades) -whipper and pit fighter (dangerous, but less dangerous than the rest)
good and informative video, would def love more region guides! though explaining some stand-out loot you could get from the region would also be pretty helpful (like how runaway greatly benefits from the sprawl trinkets)
You forgot to mention Vestal's Illuminate+ which removes dodge and prevents the enemy from gaining it back for a while. That or Tracking Shot+ are incredibly useful against Librarian, especially if you rely on heavy hits like Burning Stars or Chop that suffer more from dodge than DoTs.
Good video, I liked the format and descriptions of the enemies and little nuances, do think itd help if you explained the Trophies and trinkets asscioated with the regions qnd why you might want those, for example the Leviathan one that doubles bleed and which mountain bosses that would be a good pick for/against.
Hellion is really fantastic when fighting Librarian as well. Iron Swan hits the back rank, while Toe-to-toe can both taunt Librarian's attacks while locking her into the front rank which minimizes the impact of Categorize. If the Librarian actually makes it to rank 2, Hellion will likely have a Howling End ready to greet him, taking down his hp in a sizable chunk.
I think the format is nice, good job. Only suggestion I have is maybe adding an " Trinkets exclusive to that region " section ? It could help viewers deciding whether it's worth going there or not. Anyways, I mostly just wanted to feed the algorithm with this one. Have a nice day.
I don't know, I always liked bringing runaway to the sprawl. Smokescreen always helps and if you can get a trinket to increase burn chance or choose arsonist, she seems to work fine to me. Plus, she has high burn resist.
Some good info in here, thanks for putting it all together! The pit fighters not getting ignite threw me for a loop -- had to go double check. Swore I saw something similar on a recent run. Guess it was something called accelerant, not nearly as bad lol
Every time i want to fight librarian i realize only after i already locked in sprawl that having only 2 characters who can even hit him before he reaches rank 2 probably makes that a bad idea
I was able to defeat the Librarian just as the last book was destroyed 😅 I had a Flagellant, Hellion, Occultist, and Plague doc, they put out so much multi target damage they destroyed the books really quickly but I was able to stack a lot of blight on the Librarian to kill him just in time. I also realized that my party was already alphabetical so they didn’t get shuffled! Good party for this boss but risky to destroy the books so fast
Like when should you equip trinket price general trophy? When you want trinkets? When should you equip inventory slot harvest child? When you need it, the crit liberian one? When you crit Team doesnt like getting shuffled? Guess what Theres really not much to them
The sprawl is easily the hardest region. Way too many enemies have DOT, and their damage potential is insane. On the first round of an encounter, an immolatist ignited a shaman giving him a +50% damage token, allowing him to crit for 30 and add 2 burn on my occultist. It was immediately the occultist's turn next, and he proceeded to die to the burn DOT before I could remove it.
Good guide, I liked the format, thanks! I'm wondering if you have suggestions for good frontliners for the Librarian fight. My fights vs him have sometimes devolved to someone like PD spamming Plague Grenade while my front line kinda just doesn't do anything. Which front line characters will actually do useful things?
Hellion, flagellant, and man at arms all have useful things for that fight. Hardest one to use is leper who essentially soaks up attacks at the start using withstand. Once the first book stack is gone he can purge the next one so he's in chop range. That's all best case scenario though, your experience with ranged units carrying the weight is pretty much what it is lol
@@ShuffleFM If I'm going with the Leper, I usually spam Intimidate until the Librarian is in the range of Chop (or Break, if he's a Monarch). It prevents the ranged damage dealers from being blinded and/or meeting their creator because of burn, and Leper usually is blinded anyway. He can always remove blind tokens using Reflection, when it's chopping time.
I'm not sure what you mean about "what heroes to bring." Once you choose your team, you're stuck with it. It's not like you can change it up if you're stuck going into the sprawl.
thats a good video. couple questions that could be answered... what are the items that drop in this reagion? are there any special encounters in this region?
Surprised you didn't mention Pit fighter having 2 actions per round. I guess it is pretty obvious but it's worth noting since he's one of the only standard enemies that has extra actions and because of this, DoTs will burn (ha) him down more quickly than other enemies
Librarian is generally the lair boss I prefer to fight since they seem to pose the least of a threat in my eyes. There is pretty much a timer where I don't need to worry about my own team's well-being, where I can just use all my attacks on the boss. If I'm not mistaken, it's the only lair boss that can't prevent a hero from taking their regular action.
I'll take any of the other bosses over the bloody tangle one, beat all the others fairly but the only reason I beat the tangle one is because leper decided that he had infinite deaths door resist for the fight, everyone else died at the halfway point in his health bar
@@SnakeEater776 for me, the shroud boss is the bane of my existence. If that hand drags my biggest damage dealer underwater sweat starts to form on my forehead.

@@dude555413 maybe its because i always run pd and she is worse against them But i haven't been to it for a long time its probably not as bad as i remember
Slight correction: when Librarian ignites his turns per round actually go to 2 per turn, so after the first round he'll only use it twice a turn. Little solace, it'll still wipe the crap out of you, but at least it's not thrice a turn.
