As someone who played the first DD a crap ton but hasn’t followed the development of DD2 and has no clue what changes were coming, this was SUPER helpful!! Thank you 🙏
Shuff, just want to say I think you’re one of the best guide-makers/content creators in the indie game RUclips world. Your DD1 vids helped me out so much, looking forward to all the DD2 content to come!
Honestly, that wagon turn setting tip is low key the best one. I didn’t know about it when I started the demo, and it made driving the battle bus feel like I was playing a 3rd party Mario Kart game on the Wii.
As someone who gets maybe 8 hours of gaming time per week at most, I don't know that I would have understood DD1 enough to really enjoy it without your content. I'm looking forward to diving into DD2 with your guidance in hand!
brother let me tell you, i been playing DD2 since release and im so glad to find you because i havent even been able to win chapter two but with the help of your guides now im a power machine so yeah thats all for now, when i beat the game imma let you know!! thanks for everything and keep it up!
I bought DD2 when it came out but played for only a few minutes before going back to the first one (which I played like crazy and still occasionally pull all-nighters). Started playing DD2 last night again and was totally lost in the mechanics. I really appreciate this guide, dude!
CMIIW, but at the Hero Shrine segment in the Nodes chapter, you state that you only get Mastery if you interact with a hero that's already completed their story chapters. I recall this isn't true - You also get Mastery if you complete a story chapter successfully (It is never worth selecting a story-complete hero over an ongoing one, basically).
Shuffle, can I recommend doing a "mastery point" guide of sorts? For example, skill priority to invest for each hero, or what to do with your first few mastery points in the run.. I feel like some skills only shine when upgraded and some beginners might overlook it
I've been following your DD2 content since you started making them and I wasn't super thrilled in the beginning and figured I'd just stick with DD1. As the release approaches and I'm seeing how things have been finalized (though still subject to change) I'm a lot more hopeful, just wish listed the game on Steam and can't wait to rage when my Chad Leper misses three attacks in a row but now in DD2
Youre the best shuff! I love all your dd1 guides. Im in the military and deployed, all i have is my nintendo switch to play dd1. But i cant wait to have my computer again to get dd2 and use ur guides!!
Ya I needed this. I played DD2 practically all night just dumping candles into the characters I setup with. But ya I didn't know what was going on for a lot of stuff.
Great Guide, thank you for this video! 😊 Have been frustrated with DD2, still enjoy the first game more. The slow burn and steady long campaign instead of the fast paced rogue like style. But gonna go at it woth this new insight and see if I can get further.
Thanks for this. I bought DD2 a year ago but my computer at that time just couldn't run it. I've since upgraded and was completely lost after playing hundreds of hours of DD1. This guide is super helpful.
Such a comprehensive video - really well done, I was super keen to get into this game but by Gosh it was just straight confusion the first few runs - not sure if its worth a mention but the final bosses do not have death door checks
It`s my first time playing dd2, and honestly if i need to see a 30 minutes video to know how damage works, what are some symbols and in general whats happening, definitely they are doing something wrong, anyway, thanks fort that guide
Great video, always love your DD stuff. You touched a little on it at the end, but does the general rule of burn down the back ranks first still apply to DD2?
So I got DD2 for the Switch and I feel it will take me some time to get used to the mechanics since it's quite different to DD1 which I've spent 400+ hours in. Change can be daunting but it can also be good. So I'm here for guidance. :)
I’m looking this up in the middle of a run at the end of the tangle with my occultist, Sarmenti, Dismas, on deaths door with bleed, each having resisted like 3 checks each with Baldwin being the sole reason I’m still alive.
wanted to ask, is there any reason for me to go back and do previous confessions again? Can't see any reason to redo denial tho it's an option, wanted to know if there was any benefit? Love your videos man, you helped me out a ton when I wanted to get into darkest dungeon :)
I'm still chopping away at the first Darkest Dungeon when I picked up Darkest Dungeon 2. DD2 is certainly a departure from the first. Certainly seems harder than the first so far.
So do stackable tokens (block, Dodge) start decaying after 3 turns of inactive use? Or just 3 turns no matter what? I assume the game also prioritises use of the oldest applied token? Maybe I’m confusing myself.
Can you answer me this, I killed the lair boss in the forest area I got his head but then died in the next encounter and I can't see his head to equip to my stage coach. I got the achievement for killing him and everything, did I not recover the item because I didn't make it to the inn afterwards? I'm pissed.
Skills usually require you to be over 5 stress. Other than that, crits sometimes heal stress, and there are a couple of combat items. Mineral water and laudunum.
@@ShuffleFM thank you! I thought I had to heal in the inn!, and I hope this isn't annoying but how do you keep the stage couch light up? It's a bit clunky UI with console
@doctordice2doctordice210 theres an item you can use during combat, and assistance encounters can give you more flame. Its a bit harder to stay in the light in DD2, unfortunately
Hey, i got noob question, so trinkets and skill mastery (upgrades) resets for every adventure? u dont keep anything between new confessions? like hero quirks and stuff? Im kinda lost with that, in DD1 u kept your heroes and u were working on their skills and stuff, and here everything resets and u just do upgrades with candles? thats the only permanent upgrade? or im missing something?
DD2 has the WORST tutorial of any game I’ve played (and I have over 1000 hours into DD1). This guide was invaluable! Even still, not enjoying 2 as much as 1.
I bought this game but I'm scared to play because I'm going to end up breaking something. Some wise guy from the comment section please give me the most overpowered tip.
@@Rikhard9 To clarify I mean for the whole campaign. In DD1 you recruited heroes and leveled them all up to get to the end goal. Are you stuck with the same 4 for the entire thing in DD2, and its shifted more towards roguelike style? (Sorry if I misunderstood you)
hiya. loved the first game but too grindy. played through 2 one time... seemed better in that aspect if not others... been away ages... theres been a ton of updates... hoping this can be played in a pick up and play kinda way and not be such a slog...
Stress mechanics suck at the moment sadly. Basically want to have jester or MAA, heal people at 5+. There are other ways to handle it like items and wagon gear, or use heroes like leper and hellion to taunt and soak it up since they can remove it easily. Dismas with take aim and grape shot can be a decent stress healer as well. Vestal is another one with sanctuary.
@ShuffleFM thanks for tips. The only heroes I have with skills that can reduce stress are MAA and Jester, I just find it a little disappointing having to use them all the time.
As someone who has only about 5-6 hours in the game and is still learning how to beat Denial, it's really annoying to see a lot of environments and enemies from later in the game. I'm not saying you should label anything with spoiler alerts. Make new players feel engaged and help them know you're showing them content they can beat from the Sprawl or the Tangle. Thanks
As someone who played the first DD a crap ton but hasn’t followed the development of DD2 and has no clue what changes were coming, this was SUPER helpful!! Thank you 🙏

Can't wait to watch all of these new player guides despite playing throughout the entire early access :)
Same lol
I learned nothing (because I have like 400 hours in the game already) but liking and commenting for Shuff's algorithm

The game is getting better and better, I am impressed. This video was also very cool, because I missed some of the updates, thanks Shuff!
I watched this. I still lost. Obviously a terrible guide. Totally not a skill issue.
Kidding. Good video mate 👍👍

Even though I beat DD1 on blood moon with no one dying, DD2 changed so much stuff around that this was very helpful!
Amazing guide Shuff 💕 haven't played DD2 in a hot minute but your guides are sparking up my excitement for it again, can't wait for more!

This is actually pretty good guide

I still say that we should have frosbite damage, especially on the mountain
At mark 13:05, I love it when you delete candles in your inventory, in a new player guide video :-)

Most of the time, but not all :)
Hope they add new regions and a bunch of enemies down the road.
Also, long shot, but place where you leave the wagon.
I would say about quirks is that not all negatives are bad and some positives are not fully good and mainly depends on the hero(

Hello, amazing guide. Where did you get these icons? I'm thinking to make a guide on my language too.
The wiki and the game files. I have people who help me sometimes.

awesome video.
I've found a bunch of trinkets but the game never lets me equip them. Are trinkets only for one expedition?
do you need to dodge the debris on the road?
It's the opposite actually. Make sure to hit it for items :)

If nothing triggers them they decay after 3 turns. The game keeps track of the oldest ones :)

You keep hero quirks if you give them a memory at the altar. Rest of it doesn't keep since it's a roguelite.
That's one thing I liked in DD1 more. You keep your trinkets, build your class and then go on your adventure.
