This is a great video, really helpful. Was abit lost having played the first one but now at least i have some clear indication where to start out. Many thanks!
Thank you for the kind words! Yeah I'm not a big tier list guy but I do distinctly remember when I was early on in the game feeling kind of annoyed when I spent a lot of time into a character and they still weren't good so I wanted to guide people a little bit haha
Very accurate placements in regards to what the criteria were. In terms of actual early game power, the characters from the starter team are pretty much top dogs. Between HWM and GR, you only need 1 shrine for PBS and the rest of the shrines can go on PD and MAA who scale extremely well with the unlocks. I'd say Hellion and Jester come after mainly due to first paths being the best ones and some very solid skills but both want their full kits asap because the strongest "staples" come with the last shrines. Leper is an interesting one because he himself starts out with a great kit. However, he needs some combo enablers and most of them require deep unlocks. So he's good "early game" but only when you have almost full unlocks on some other characters.
One reason I liked this idea when I came up with is how different a tier list like this vs overall strength of characters, I tried to make it clear that they were different to not confuse any new players haha. I'm sure if I did this tier list 10 times it'd have some slightly different iterations but overall I think I got it fairly accurate, thank you for watching
In defense of Runaway, she is very team specific. She’s a powerhouse of a support character with Leper if you master Hearthlight. Or, just use Smokescreen and keep leper up front. She’s got pretty good synergy with Crusader on his Aggressor path as well. She’s not the strongest DOT or support character, there are better options. BUT, with the right people she’s pretty invaluable.
@@dudewhy6953 I love the runaway, I play her pretty often but yeah early on she is just kinda though. I do really like what dragonfly/controlled burn/cauterize specifically do, but those aren't unlocked until shrines 2 3 and 4 I think? That feels like a lot of time to only have basically 1 usable damage ability. But yeah you're right, if you lean into hearthlight supporting for leper she can have more of a purpose, that's a good point
yeah in hindsight I should have mentioned that runaway feels a lot better as a support for runaway, hearthlight clearing blind and/or smokescreen setting up for leper is a pretty good way to play her until you unlock the skills to make her a little better on her own. good call
@@ZekeBarzahd oh yeah she definitely deserves to be where I put her IMO haha. But I do love Bonnie and hate slandering her, so I could have at least dropped one more positive fact about her!
The funny thing about leper is other characters that get blinded by enemy debuffs really suffer from the status effect where leper has 2 additional ways to deal with blind and he gets rid of combo on himself which not many abilities do. On occultist, the biggest problem with him is wyrd is really a terrible button to push. Especially from people who played the first game. But wyrd was good then because there was no health threshold and it's best used before hitting low health and resisting the bleed is harder now because the randomization of trinkets. If wyrd didn't suck he should be higher but I think he's probably D tier. I agree with the list otherwise.
@@theduhj Leper is a baller, hew only needing 1 combo to hit is a pretty good quality of life thing too got how he feels. Yeah that's a good point about wyrd being more high risk cause of the heal thresholds. Ritualist will lower that risk a bit at least so that's a good path for people who are worried about that. I think it's best to run occultist with someone who either has self heals like GR or someone that has some other healing like flagellant to make him less risk. That's a totally legit criticism though
@@Mariner_Hawk the one thing that has disappointed me with 2 is that the roster of healers just kind of sucks. Personally, my favorite healer is runaway which is kinda of insane
I'd still stick Runaway in C rank... May not be fully formed but God, Smokescreen is probably my favourite ability in the game. Double blind is so powerful - should be higher up just for that.
Yeah you're definitely right, I love Bonnie so I hated putting her down there but man her starting skills are all over the place...Smokescreen is really what kept me going until I got the last couple shrines haha
Also Seeing as Bounty hunter can die and there is no real repercussions and he can’t develop relationships make him perfect for making so your other party members don’t hate each other
I don't think I mentioned it in this video but I did mention it my tips video, BH is especially good to avoid negative relationships and more importantly avoid the frustration. I probably should have mentioned that though, good call
I just bought the game yesterday evening and I am not finding this so called "damage" that graverobber has. She is basically just there as a filler for me to suck up attacks and use her absinthe until the fight is over because the highway man is far superior in literally every way that I can see; his damage is higher, his utility is better, and he can put a combo counter on anyone just because. So far all the grave robber has excelled at is being my most hated hero so far 🤷♂️
Early GR is nice in the sense that she's flexible, and her first path you unlock is arguably her best so that's why I gave her the credit I did. But yeah you're right, she does sort of flounder early on without a perceived niche, she's very much like jack of all trades master of none. The flagellant is similar in that case so yeah I see what you're saying. Her niches start to show themselves with more skill and path unlocks but I don't blame you for not being crazy about her early
You're tearlist is sheet! Aside: Thanks for the BB grand slam video. I now only play the unga-bunga team (Occ, PD, MAA, Hellion) with tick and almanac.
Hellion is way better than Leper and I can prove it I will compare the most used paths of Hellion and Leper, which are Ravager and Tempest. Wicked Hack+ (in rank 1) causes 8-13 (mean = 11) without combo and 11-18 (mean = 15). In 5 rounds, HE causes 55 dmg without combo and 75 with combo. Regarding Leper, Chop+ causes 8-18 (mean = 13) dmg. By multiplying the mean dmg for the chances of hit we have the results: Round 1: 13 - 50% blind chance + 53% Db Res - 50% hit chance - 25% blind chance + 53%Db Res - 50% hit chance = 11 dmg for mean. Round 2: 13 - 60% Chop blind chance + 53% Db Res - 50% hit chance + 25% blind chance + 53%Db Res - 50% hit chance = 11 dmg for mean. Rounds 3, 4 and 5 also have 11 dmg for mean. The sum for Chop+ without combo is 55. The sum for Chop+ with combo is 65. In conclusion, Hellion cause same dmg without combo and more dmg with combo. Also, Hellion passive don't need a turn to be actived and increase dmg like Revenge or Ruin. Thus Hellion can cure herself each other turn with Raucous Revelry and 4 rounds in a roll with Adrenaline Rush. On the other hand, Leper can use Solemnity only two times in a battle. And Hellion has toe to toe and Breakthough to reposition and Leper walk as a turtle. I'm sorry Leper, you may be cool but you don't have room in my party as long as I have Hellion. I hope you enjoy the explanation.
wellllllllllll I was specifically rating everybody based on how good they were with their starting skills (give or take), leper pretty much has everything you need when you unlock but Hellion has adrenaline rush and howling end as late unlocks. This isn't just an overall tier list video of strength, but a specific one. But yeah you're pretty much right, Hellion is better. But that's cause ravager is kinda dumb tbh
