Thank you! Didn't realize I had HID bulbs until I watched this video. Saw other videos for my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport but their headlights were different.
I've followed other videos before to change my bulb, and your way seems like it is going to make changing the drivers side light easier as space on my 17 is limited. Going to try your way now.
Thanks for this. Your video is the clearest and well thought through demonstration I've seen so far. The clarity of the explanation as you're going through the stages are brilliant. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Just for the info 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4 Liter - The low beam is actually an H11 in mine. My high beam is the H7. I bought the D3S and opened the low beam and was surprised by the H11. I checked the inner cover and there was a H7 in there. I fooled with the lights just to make sure what was high and low and they checked out. Inners are High Beam as well as DRL (Day time Running Lights) and the outer is in the projector and is the low beam.
You are correct. I made this video on a Sante Fe Limited that comes with the LED lights. For those one its the D3S. For the trim levels where the low beam is Halogen based, the replacement bulb size is H11. I did mention this in my top comment of this video, but yes I could have done a better job at explicitly mentioning the difference. My apologies for the inconvenience.
A ++ Video had only small trouble getting the high beam door to open not sure why but that does not take away from the video for me and un plugging the battery was a great safety thing for me i'd never thought to do that on that bulb i would treated just like every old style light bulb i have replaced .
Ohh wow! $50 for the bulbs and $100 for the labour eh! I am glad you were able to use this video and change them yourself for under $20 in lesser time than going back and forth to the shop and waiting there. 😁👍
Very nice. I have a 2016 with basic trim. The screws on the light aren't present on mine, they simply twist out. But the rest of the process is the same.
So I took that off and got the light back into the car and it’s working but when I was going to put the diagnostic bolt back on I dropped it into the bay. What kind of bolt is it 5:36
Great video man! I thought I had to remove the entire light to get to those screws….can you help me find the fuse and/or relay for the low beams first before I replace the bulbs? Searched everywhere and can’t find either one…
I have a Hyundai Santa Fe 2017 and this looks different from mine. Both low headlights went out at the same time. The bulb has a TAB on it which is just a square cap (with a Tab) . It's really hard to get in there, you must have smaller hands than me. But I bought H7, and I think you said those were for the High Beams, not the Low Beams. Thanks for showing how it's done. I'll give it another shot. - Ken in Hawaii 8/31/24
That's an entire unit. You can't change the individual LED or even just the daytime running light strip by itself. It's built into the headlight. Have to change the entire light. Sorry 😐
Sure. It's just safer with the battery disconnected. Especially if you have the HID bulbs, white bulbs. If you have the regular halogen bulbs, then no issues, you can do without disconnecting the battery
@@VirarAutomotive Done no issues. 20$ for one bulb. gave it a 90 deg twist, but had to wiggle the top part quite a bit to get it to "let go" from the top electrics. hard little spot,. but figured it out and new one in and working. Thanks for the self confidence in DIY
Hello George. I could do that. It's just that I don't have access to this vehicle at this very moment. As soon as I do, I will try and make a video on headlight height adjustment.
I have a 2017 Santa Fe sport and my lights are different … the amber light is in the lift most corner (when facing drivers side) and the layout under the hood doesn’t match this example 😢
Thanks for the video. Kindly assist, the screws went into the assembly, and I could not retrieve them. Would you know the size of the screws that I replace them?
You need a flexible magnetic bolt picker to get those screws out. I am not sure of the screw size. Something like this. www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mastercraft-magnetic-pickup-tool-with-1-4-in-lighted-glass-mirror-5-lb-load-capacity-0581645p.html
I show this video using a limited trim vehicle. If you have the Base, GLS, SE trim then it has Halogen low beam bulbs and that is H11 size. High beam is the same H7 size for all the trims. Hope this helps.
My low beam bulbs were not like this at all. Mine simply twisted out without having to unscrew anything. Double check and make sure which one you have.
Yeah yours are likely the Halogen bulbs. These are the LED type ones. This video was shot on the Limited trim which has the standard LED lamps. Your process should look similar to the high beam bulbs I show in this video as they are the standard halogen types
Depends on the trim level. If you had halogen lights for low beam, then the replacement bulb size is H11, not sure if H7 will work for it. H7 for high beam is good.
You mean the metal clip that holds the bulb in place inside the headlight? Hmm, yeah it's too small and specific a part for the dealer to have. Unfortunately I can't think of any ideas to fix the issue right now. Sorry.

I have the same trim as you and wanted to do Led upgrade in high beam but it wasn’t possible due to the locking clip disturbing fitting of led . Do you have any solution ? Plz help.
Hi, the LED upgrade for the high beams depends on the aftermarket LED bulbs you are getting. Some of the aftermarket brands have a locking tab, an adapter that makes it easy. Some of them don't. I have Auxito LED bulbs, H7 size that I personally installed in a 2011 Hyundai Sonata that has H7 bulbs and was able to install them easily. In my 2014 model released here in the Philippines, the socket itself attaches to the headlight and holds on to the bulb. Nothing like the clip shown that holds the bulb.
Hi new subscriber here. I have hyundai santa fe 2016 sport. My remote start wasn't working i replaced new battery on it but still not working. Do you have video on how to reprogram the remote start? Mine comes with astrostart built-in on it.

After replacing the bulbs and reconnecting the battery, my car started acting up : I have to press the push buttons twice to turn on and off the car, the auto headlights isn’t working (not activating) what should I do ? Thank you !
I was very easily able to change H7 but I am unable to disconnect the negative cable to battery. It is very tight. I tried to check the interior of low beam but i couldn’t even find where the screws are due to limited view. You are able to show so clearly on video. Is there a trick to get that view where I can see clearly? Thank you
I show the Video on a limited trim. They have the HID bulbs. If you have a different trim then you may have different bulbs. The clip for it should be similar to the high beam H7 bulbs.
This is different for the SE or XL Santa Fe. This is only for Sport. I have a SE with Type B headlights. It's impossible to get fingers/hand into back of headlamp to twist old bulb out...
This is a Santa Fe sport, not a Santa Fe like the title suggests. The Santa Fe and the sport have a different headlight design. This video will guide you in the right direction, however it’s not the same and in my case required a few tools-10mm socket and 12mm socket to be able to access the low beam bulbs. I needed to loosen the headlights to have enough room to get my hand into the tight space where the low beam bulb is located. Also the Santa Fe does not have the clip (at least mine didn’t). I find it to be incredibly funny how these car mechanic RUclipsrs don’t understand that the Santa Fe and Santa Fe sport are two different vehicles.
You are incorrect on how to remove the standard headlight. You DO NOT have to remove the screws. Just grab the bulb and twist a quarter of a turn counterclockwise.
That's correct. For the standard headlight with the halogen bulbs, it's you can twist a quarter of a turn clockwise. This video was done on a car with the HID (white) lights
This video is very misleading. It does not work for my MIL's 2013 Santa Fe. Her lights are not the same as the ones you show. Please do a video on the different types of light bulbs. This is not a universal video.
