Dutchies to be - Learn Dutch with Kim I really liked “echt gebeurt” podcast which is different people telling their stories. Usually super funny and interesting. Each is around 12 minutes. I can recommend Tabula Rasa, Belgian TV series, it's available on Netflix in Flemish Dutch and it also has audio commentary version that is originally intended to help blind people watching the show, but also can be really helpful if you learn Dutch. Every scene has a commentary which literally describes what you are seeing, e.g.: "Ze loopt het volgende ruimtje in en probeert het licht aan te doen, maar het doet het niet." (not a direct quote, may contain errors) - I find it really helpful and easy to understand. The dialogues are much harder though and may require english subtitles to understand, so I end up watching each episode twice: the first time with eng subs, then with audiocommentary.
Songs? My students like Jaap Fisher, even though man6 may find him too old-fasioned. Some songs are really good for beginners (eendje)good for practicing sounds (Suzan). There are also plenty of modern songs.
Regarding Podcasts, I really really recommend Echt Gebeurd. It's about normal people telling -a- story. They are mostly quite funny and make use of "real" Dutch (as opposed to Dutch on the news or radio).
I just watched the documentary De Klimaatverkenner on that 2nd ws with Dutch sub - there were lots of new words (new verbs and scientific words) that I didn’t know, but I still got the main ideas, and it’s really nice that the movies can be watched without having an account or anything like that...

I have used Van Dale a lot trying to make Dutch a 4th language (English, French and Italian already). I have found it very good but using previous experience (mainly with Italian as I was brought up speaking French and English - French mother English father) I try to use the NL-NL option first and use it as a simple dictionary as it gives more information about the word (such as gender and plural form for nouns, or past perfect and participle form for verbs) and you can always take the NL-EN option when it is too difficult to understand! It works for me and I find it sticks in my memory better when I do it this way.
When we lived in NL twenty years ago, there was no Google Translate and mail from the government/phone company/electric company/landlord was paper mail. So we would use our big fat Van Dale NL-EN dictionary to manually translate the letters we got. Sometimes it would take an hour to translate a few paragraphs, as you flip-flip-flip the pages of the Van Dale for each word. Languages are much easier now!

For infants learning their mother tongue or native language is like learning from the film. Whatever is happening around them is like a movie for them and they have no one to provide them with subtitles. That is the fundamental style to ACQUIRE a language instead of MEMORIZE it. Most people dont have that much memory so languages are hard for them to master. Learn like toddlers and give it a plenty of time. Memorize math not languages. ACQUIRE THEM like kids do. Ask them specifically before buying the vpn. Most vpn addresses get quickly blacklisted by Netflix and Disney+, etc. because of the pressure from the content owners. Basically, a film or tv distribution company sells the access by country. So you can't watch FRIENDS on Netflix in the US because they sold it to another company to show in the US.
I watched bon bini Holland and ik vind het erg grappig. And ik hou van Maan muziek ik vind ze erg mooi and I like so much Lil Kleine. Plus I watched a movie in Netflix Riphagen. Dank je wel Kim. npostart.nl heeft een zeer goed reisprogramma: "Floortje Naar Het Einde Van De Wereld" Het programma is erg interessant en inspirerend. De Nederlandse ondertitels zijn nuttig.
Just Say Yes is another tolerable romantic comedy available on Netflix. It has subtitles in many languages and even has Dutch Audio Description as an audio option.
Yes the npostart.nl works here in the states. Dank Je wel for the info. I also use a vpn for restricted by area sites. But the npo site works without it.
@Naela There is an app on Google Play called " fake gps location - hola ". You can download it and set your location to "the Netherlands" and enjoy NPO channels.
The best (and the most scary) way to learn language is to face people. Check out meetings organised via Duolingo Events or Meetup and meet others (either Online or in one of the Dutch cities). That's how we learn languages in the most efficient way... never forget that people don't bite.
I’m from the Netherlands and moved to the England as a child. I’m currently 1 month in to relearning Dutch and I just want a systematic way of learning the language so that I can be able to track my progression clearly, any recommendations anyone?
This site www.bvn.tv/bvnlive/ which is meant for people outside the Netherlands and Belgium streams programs from the public broadcasters in the Netherlands and Belgium (Flemish programs). It has a wide variety of programs including news programs, quiz shows, talk shows, dramas, children's shows, etc. The Dutch series "Floris" from 1969 (starring Rutger Hauer and directed by Paul Verhoeven) can be viewed on RUclips. It has optional Dutch subtitles. I am able to watch most of the program on NPO Start in the United States. Sometimes, if I can't watch the current episode, I can still watch episodes from a few days or a few months earlier. I don't know why but sometimes, it won't let me watch the latest episodes of a show and then will suddenly start letting me watch them. The opposite can also happen. I'll be able to watch the latest episodes of a programs and then it suddenly will stop letting me watch them. Something to be aware about with NPO Start is that programs whose names begin with "De" are listed in the D's and programs whose names begin with "Het" are listed in the H's.
Kim, You might be interested to hear that BVN (the tv channel formerly of Belgium and the Netherlands) now no longer has funding from the Belgian Government. As a result BVN will become Beste van NPO however many satellite services such as our one to Australia and New Zealand have been ceased. I have recently helped the families of two 90 year old Dutch expatriates to get BVN using the Amazon Fire Stick i.e. streaming via the web. Their satellite boxes no longer work to get BVN. The link to stream BVN using a browser is www.bvn.tv/bvnlive/ and this stream is not geoblocked (at least not to Australia). I also like Zondag met Lubach and enjoy watching the annual ZwartePietDiscussie.
I wonder if you have someone from the Netherlands buy you a one month Netflix gift card that would give you access to the Dutch library. Btw I resently watched Ares (Dutch original) in my Bulgarian account, so some movies are definitely available in other countries.
It probably wouldn't, bc Netflix tracks your IP to know your location. When I was in Canada with my brazilian netflix account, for example, I only had access to the Canadian titles. You can, however, get a VPN to change the location of your IP (this is usually a paid service but not expensive at all)
Hoi Kadiatou, welkom! Ik weet niks over taalscholen in Antwerpen, maar ik hoop dat ik je hier op RUclips met mijn video's en in mijn online school kan helpen! ;) Succes!

In Spotify i'm following zeg het in het Nederlands en your dutch coach, and i'm following You on Patreon, thats My favorite one. Gracias Kim!
Wow, you're doing a lot! And very nice recommendations! Keep up the good work!!😊
What keep you reading in foreign languages? Although Reading is very helpful for learning language, it's hard to keep attention.
Just Say Yes is another tolerable romantic comedy available on Netflix. It has subtitles in many languages and even has Dutch Audio Description as an audio option.
GCN (global cycling network) have dutch commentary for most races on GCN+, no subtitels though
the npo is not available in our location thats what it said when im trying to watch series, can you help?
Yes the npostart.nl works here in the states. Dank Je wel for the info. I also use a vpn for restricted by area sites. But the npo site works without it.
Wow cool. Bedankt voor de pdf! 👌
Ik die video kijken nog steeds maar het is leuk
Ik hou van Keuringsdienst van Waarde en Zondag met Lubach... ook Het Klokhuis.
Goede smaak!
Dankjewel Kim :)
Thanks Kim for this video. Unfortunately NPO doesn’t stream outside of the Netherlands, or at least here in Egypt I can’t have access!
Oh that’s really unfortunate! Maybe you can watch some of the recommendations that I shared for series and movies on RUclips or somewhere else online?
@Naela
There is an app on Google Play called " fake gps location - hola ".
You can download it and set your location to "the Netherlands" and enjoy NPO channels.
Naela Omar China too need VPN
It works in the United States via their mobile app, for most (but not all) shows.
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰🥰
You’re welcome!
The best (and the most scary) way to learn language is to face people. Check out meetings organised via Duolingo Events or Meetup and meet others (either Online or in one of the Dutch cities). That's how we learn languages in the most efficient way... never forget that people don't bite.
That's indeed true! I used to organize a lot of Meetups and as soon as it's possible again (with corona), I am going to continue!
@@learndutchwithkim Wow really wonderful. I'm looking forward to meeting you Kim.
I’m from the Netherlands and moved to the England as a child. I’m currently 1 month in to relearning Dutch and I just want a systematic way of learning the language so that I can be able to track my progression clearly, any recommendations anyone?
Sound great! Good luck 🍀
Thank you very much
Graag gedaan!
niet de ragout maar the pastei was .. vekdhuis en kemper "ik wou dat ik jou was" fantastisch music and vocals ..
You can also get a VPN so you can unblock content not available in your country
NPO doesn't have the subtitle anymore, is it in the plus version?
No idea...
@@learndutchwithkim it’s a bit different now, some movies have it and some don’t
@@Amiss_Artt That's annoying! I don't have a television and don't watch anything online either... So I didn't know :)
Heel erg bedankt!
Graag gedaan!
Hello, please tell me audiobook for kid, website
ik vind je trui hele mooi

hartelijk dank
Dankjewel! En graag gedaan!
Thanks!
Graag gedaan en dank je voor de super thanks!!
That’s a good tip! Thanks for sharing!
It probably wouldn't, bc Netflix tracks your IP to know your location. When I was in Canada with my brazilian netflix account, for example, I only had access to the Canadian titles. You can, however, get a VPN to change the location of your IP (this is usually a paid service but not expensive at all)
Dankejewel! Heel Goede!
Graag gedaan
@2:13 - that desktop tho!
rokjesdag! Mooi!

Hoi Kadiatou, welkom! Ik weet niks over taalscholen in Antwerpen, maar ik hoop dat ik je hier op RUclips met mijn video's en in mijn online school kan helpen! ;) Succes!
@@learndutchwithkim oké maar ik weet niet jouw online school
Ahhh, oke! Dit is mijn online school: learndutchwithkim.teachable.com/courses
Goed information...
Happy to hear!
I’m vind rupaul’s drag race Holland ook zo leuk. Het helpt me zo veel met mijn ‘gay Dutch’ woorden! 😂
Leuk!
VPN's will enable you to watch programs outside of your designated country's tv-shows/movies! 😊
Loveeee youuuu
Hi sister I want to learn language Holland I am somali gril and I like to learn how can learn as I want
Yay! 😃😃😃
Simplest is to watch all of the singing with Juf Roos then Sprookjesbos
Ja ik doe nu
❤️❤️❤️
It turns out that Netflix doesn't have dubbed movies, only subtitles. Too bad, I would like to watch not Dutch movies, but my favorite American movies in Dutch dubbing, my favorite movies I can rewatch many times, so it's not boring to learn the language.
You managed to get Japanese subs for this one Kim?
