    From Kerala (India) living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Majority of the people around the world just knows butter chicken and naan when it comes to Indian food. And here in Vietnam, its more or less the same, they are exposed to everything North India, very rare few knows what South & East India has to offer.

    I loved the way you have presented it. In north India food served tougether in large plate is known as thali and in Kerala verity food served in leaf is called sadya. Bro in your narration you have used thali instated of sadya for your information it is enterally different things.

    It coconut tree. There is another palm tree also which is tapped. It is used for drinking also making a syrup like maple syrup

    banana leaf eating hot food in this leaf is very healthy and hygienic. While the hot food is served on the leaf, rich nutrients from the leaf is emitted, which infuses with the food and eventually we intake it as we eat the food

    @lukenguyencooks Kettu Vallam means boat made by tying. The wood planks of the hull are joined by tying with coir. There are no nails used in a Kettu Vallam. Beef, Fish, Tapioca and Toddy. Heavenly 👌

      @@rhk199 How come ? Wudnt that make toddy expensive?? I am from Andhra pradesh(Telugu) and my community trade is Toddy Tapping. (Ofcourse Nobody from my relatives is doing that trade anymore) but from what I observed , it's dying trade out here. The tappers make just enough to make a living like any labor work. So surprised by your comment.

      @@RK-X In Kerala it's well paying due to scarcity of workers since youngsters are not interested in doing it so those who left can quote good wages as there is good demand in the market for the product to justify it.

    Food on banana leaf is not called thali its sadhya. And cannals are not man made its actually, the land is raised from a very big lake. Ones All that was a big lake, latter people build land from the lake. Most of the places land is lying well below the water level....

    This is coconut tree. Not palm tree. But the process of making today from both coconut and palm are almost same. Slight change in the taste.......

      Actually, there are different types of palm trees. One which palm oil is made from its seeds, one which toddy is extracted

      Must hv something to do with vibrations , a bone is hollow
      The traditional climbers must hv tried many materials and must hv zeroed in on a big bone .
      Maybe there are better ways to extract this too

      it shows that coconut tapping in Kerala is a very ancient practice, when ideal materials were hard to get like light weight metals or other materials, wood with such a characteristic will be heavy to climb with, besides similar bones will be easy to get from domesticated animals.
