The 2022 Kia Stinger GT-Line Is A More Powerful Rear-Drive Premium Sport Sedan

  • The all-new #KiaStinger really changed a lot of enthusiasts perspective on Kia when they introduced the #StingerGT to the market nearly five years ago. For 2022, the #StingerGTLine is the new entry level model and #Kia gave the #Stinger #GTLine a nearly 50 HP boost this year and updated the styling and technology on the inside. The result is an even more appealing sport sedan and we just hope Kia will continue to keep this enticing sport sedan in their US lineup.

    Happy Monday everyone! We just wanted to clarify the status of the Kia Stinger in America. There are rumors floating around that Kia will discontinue this model after 2022. Those are just RUMORS right now as Kia has not confirmed anything. We’d hate to see the Stinger go, so we encourage anyone who has had their eye on one to get one of these while they’re still available! We’d love to see Kia follow this up for the next generation and perhaps offer an all-electric model? Keep the Stinger alive folks!

      @DOGS LOL EV for everyone is a pipe dream. Hybirds are the answer. We don't have enough lithium and we would need 100 new Safe nuclear large power plants. Right now EVs are for the pompous rich/upper middle class. Tesla battery $28,000 Hyundai Kona battery $48,000 If it is not a warranty issue your screwed unless your rich. Good for the 10%ers. NOT for the 90%ers. Again Hybrids make sense. Smaller battery $3,000-$4,000 for say a Prius, and you can keep driving if your charge is gone.

      While I prefer the look of the Stinger, with the effort they are putting into Genesis, I think they are probably going to cancel the Stinger and keep selling the nearly equivalent G70. It doesn’t help that sedans are an every shrinking pie of the auto market now. Unlike the two door sports car or truck market, the US market seems to be particularly brand conscious when it comes to compact/mid-size premium sport sedans.

    @stephenhendricks103 2 года назад +13

    Good review. I think, however, that calling the Stinger a "sports sedan" is somewhat misleading. In fact, it's KIA's interpretation of a European GT (Grand Touring) vehicle designed to carry four passengers and their gear/luggage at high speeds for hours at a time over meticulously maintained European highways as well as negotiating twisting backroads, many of which were originally laid down by the Romans 2000 years ago. Unlike its stablemate the Genesis G70, the Stinger isn't meant to be a rival to the iconic BMW 3 series. Nor does the "GT" designation means it's a competitor to an American muscle car like the Mustang where the term "GT" (in the European sense) is especially inappropriate.
    The replacement of the 2.0L turbo with the corporate 2.5L turbo 4 in the GT-Line Stinger is a significant improvement in the mission of making the Stinger a true "GT." It improves the vehicle's 0-60 time, of course, but scalding straight line acceleration from a dead stop isn't the hallmark of a "grand touring" vehicle. Instead, the Stinger's less than 6 second 0-60 time is more than adequate when combined with the ability to cruise comfortably at triple digit speeds. Unfortunately, using that ability on the crumbling highways in the US is rarely available. But the 230+ lb weight advantage over the V6 twin turbo version of the Stinger is the equivalent of carrying an NFL cornerback in the back seat compared to a GT1 or GT2 Stinger. And that arguably offers significant advantages that cannot be easily overcome with the suspension and braking advantages of the upper trim vehicles.
    The upper trim Stingers do have the advantage of an LSD that the GT-Line lacks. But the availability of AWD in the GT-Line does more than help in inclement weather. It enables the GT-Line to put power to the pavement while limiting wheel hop and torque steer nearly as effectively as an LSD provides in the RWD version of the upper trim versions.
    Rumors that KIA will cease production of the Stinger with the 2022 model persist despite KIA's efforts to deny or at least ignore them. With the performance version of the EV6 coming to the US next spring it wouldn't be surprising to see KIA put all of its performance "eggs" in the electrification basket. Hopefully, however, improved sales of the Stinger GT-Line will postpone the disappearance of the vehicle.

    Great Review! I totally agree with your feelings on the Stinger. I'm leasing this very model. Awesome styling catches stares and sparks up conversations everywhere I go. The proportions make it classically attractive, inside and out, and with the Sun and Sound package you get a sound system with two subs that really delivers rich deep sound. Handling dynamics add to the joy of driving it so it never feels dull or boring plus the additional horsepower/torque give it plenty of pep to get around traffic easily. I high recommend this Grand Tourer to anyone who enjoys driving and doing it in style. Leasing it makes very affordable. I thought of opting for the 6 cylinder but ultimately did not feel the additional money was worth the extra half second faster 0 to 60 time. It's quick and nimble! Besides, you don't want to speed by, you want admirers to get a good view as you cruise by. I searched the market closely and carefully and nothing is as affordable and good looking as this GT-Line Stinger is. Truly the best bang for your dollar! Every time you walk up to it, you'll smile because the Stinger stands out, in the best way, its classy from every angle and so very well proportioned. You will not be disappointed. Best not to wait, get one while you still can and get ready for the stares and conversations that will come your way!

I will owe just over 21k at the end of the lease but I will not keep it beyond 36 months. I feel the terms fair enough for the car I was driving off with. It's great! I own the 2022 Kia Stinger GT-Line AWD version. This car is so good for the price point. I would recommend getting better tires for this car. I was not a fan of the Bridgestone Potenza's that came with the car, they are horrible especially in inclement weather. I decided to upgrade to the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus which are UHP (Ultra High Performance) All season tires. Upgrading to these tires made the car an even better drive. More overall traction, reduced road noise, better on bumps, smoother ride, more grip in inclement weather, better braking, without affecting performance. You can feel the road so much better. This car has great handling off the lot but if you want a better overall driving experience, I recommend upgrading to the DWS06 plus. For this car, they retail for about $170 per tire.

    When I say engine technology like this what I mean is competitive horsepower 300hp, competitive mpg at 33mpg highway that is actually underrated, then on top of that you get port injection and direct injection which combats carbon buildup which is something you get with direct injection and every manufacturer has direct injection engine not many have dual injection.
