Picked up a GT2 AWD last April and still enjoy watchin' all these review vids despite owning one. Yours is one of the best of the bunch...I like your enthusiasm and apt description of the car on every level. Aside from its exterior looks and great performance I'm also impressed with the 750W 15spkr Harmon/Kardon sound system. It's an improvement on the Infinity system I had in my 2011 Optima EX. Heated and air-conditioned seats. Adaptive cruise control, lane sensors...all the toys and gadgets. Rain-sensing wipers, swivel headlights with auto-sensing hi/lo beam, auto-dimming rearview mirror...the list goes on and on. I've owned a lot of vehicles over the years - and this one without a doubt sits at the top of my favorites. Gets lots of looks and compliments.

These look a lot nicer in person, one of the cars that no matter how high quality the rendering is, they will always look better in person. To me, it really resembled an Audi, specifically the A7. You see one coming in the distance and you will definitely think it is an Audi. They sit quite low as well, quite hunched and wide. I think a lot of "non car" people will be shocked if they see the previous models with the KIA badge on such a car with presence. Gives it a somewhat "sleeper" status. Obviously more regular joe car people will know this vehicle definitely has the grunt and performance similar to that of an Audi / BMW

I cross shopped the Stinger GT1 with a Civic Type R. 2019 with about 20k miles, they are nearly equal in price. The Stinger is better in almost every way as a fun and comfortable daily driver. The only significant things the Type R has over the Stinger is the handling and the 6 speed manual. Aside from that, you get so much more value from the Stinger, it's insane. Not to mention the badass 100k mile power train warranty. The Stinger is such an insane used car value proposition, and no one is talking about it, it's actually crazy.

The stinger is a great car , most people hate on this car only because its a kia , but then fail to realize it was designed and engineered by the germans , and this car doesn’t sell as well because people are such brand snobs they rather drive a a base 3 series that has no where near the performance or features because of how the badge makes you look
The stinger gets so much attention tho id say its better than the badge tbh
When you consider what the stinger competes against its priced well enough to capture some of the market who want 4 doors and awd and the performance.

The Stinger might not sell as well as they would like it in North America, but in Korea it's doing great! There are two problems for markets outside Korea: a lack of marketing for this particular model in the Kia line-up, and stupid badge snobs who still think they're living in 1990.

The rumors for it being cut off has happened every year... like the same exact rumor 2-3 years in a row... why would Kia do a refreshment with an new motor and kill it? Makes no sense right? Its like their tactic of BMW with the LCI concept. This is probably the LAST year of the current gen design, introducing a new motor on the base model and styling upgrades. It could very well be a tactic to "preview" or "tease" a second gen.

Kick myself about it at least a few times a week. But I picked up a job that's farther away from my house. And with the Stinger being like 19MPG and needing 93, my wallet told me I should probably get out of this thing while the used car market is so high. My buyout was $27K and change, and I managed to sell it for $33K.
Idk what I'd be paying in gas now. I sold my baby back in March. And back then, working both jobs, I was spending like $260-300 a month just on gas for the thing. No way was that making sense to me. Not on top of my already high monthly payment

Thanks! Yea Improvements weren't crazy but it's cool though. The Euro cars especially the latest ones def have low 0-60 times but what I was trying to explain was those cars have such a rigid chassis, you don't feel the speed nor the feeling that you're getting pushed back into the seat, too solid for those weight transfer feels.
Stinger has a sloppy chassis but the benefit of that is you feel the speed and you feel the braking all the G forces are felt but that's not good for handling so gotta pick and choose what you want

A week ago Saturday I decided to pull the trigger on a GT2 Scorpion Edition (AWD) and am glad I did; this car is so amazing and while the flaws in this car become glaringly obvious because overall the car is so amazing, with the 2022 it's a matter of quibbling over levels of perfection. If you want a sports sedan (or really a sportback since strictly speaking this isn't a saloon) definitely consider the Stinger. I waffled between this, the M340i xDrive, and Audi S4 Prestige, but ultimately went Stinger because it feels small and nimble like my 9-3 did, but grips and pulls far better, and the interior finish is _better_ than the Bimmer, on par with the Audi. Plus, it feels more connected to the road in terms of feedback, which is something both BMW and Audi lost their way on.
And, as an added bonus, the GT2's sport seats comes with ventilation. With both BMW and Audi, you're forced to pick one or the other.
Plus, the styling is gorgeous and the paint quality is very, very good.

    • @kimvette1
      @kimvette1 3 года назад +2

      @@MeynMotorGroup Thank you.
And Kia/Hyundai, if you're reading this, you know based on my constant feedback to you that I've been critical of the car, and 2022 addressed most of my complaints. You owe it to yourselves to do multiple things:
      1. Keep the model going and Advertise the crap out of it
      2. Come out with an M/RS-level trim (GT3?) with 450-475whp, and include /all/ the toys including a drift mode, and get it into the hands of traditional car rags
      3. Get the GT2 into rental fleets as a premium option, and encourage rental companies to offer it as free upgrades
This car is a legit competitor to BMW and Audi as is, but it needs exposure. In the one week I've had it, I've had multiple Audi drivers park near my car wait for me outside of stores to ask me about the car and how it drives, and I tell them how connected to the road it is (BMW and Audi lost that connectedness with the electrically-driven steering), that it is every bit as quick in real world driving but is just lacking the brutal edge of acceleration so it's deceiving because it's less abrupt on the butt dyno. I wasn't convinced on the Stinger until I finally test drove a GT1. If it had been in a rental fleet or if I had been able to rent one for a weekend from a Kia dealer, I'd have likely tried it sooner, and would have bought it many months earlier. It drives so well I might have even overlooked the lack of UVO Link and the infotainment flaws in the pre-refresh model.
      Additional note for Kia:
I bought the GT2 sight unseen (in a color I don't even like), based on my experience in the GT1 which I drove on a loop through three towns including freeway, twisty roads, and pothole-plagued roads (I live in Maine). I knew based on the experience, with its matching what my C4-era ZR1 does, I would be happy with the GT2 as a starting point. You _really_ need to get this vehicle into rental car fleets so it gets some serious exposure. Don't give up on the model because with proper marketing, this car will eat more of the BMW/Audi/Merc and entry-level Porsche market share - you just need to get enthusiasts to TRY it. I also compared to Alfa Romeo's Giulia... and short of the Quadrifolglio which is not in my budget (at that price point I'd go Z51 Corvette and forgo all practicality), the Stinger is better in absolute terms as well as bang-for-the-buck.
Also I almost walked away and waited for BMW to sort out their supply chain issues, because of your crappy dealer network (namely, Crowley Kia in Bristol, CT - may their general manager rot in he-doublehockeysticks)

@@sabbathoneseveneight8643 The same: Ceramic Silver with AWD, and I was going to have puddle lights installed but that night was delighted to discover it came with the puddle nights.
Posting in case Kia/Hyundai are reading this:
I initially didn't care for the color in photos so before it arrived I turned it down, and had put a deposit down on a black one at Crowley Kia, but on the day I wanted to seal the deal those f--ks at Crawley Kia screwed me over and would not sell me the car, the G.M. telling me "If you're talking to other dealers I'm not going to sell you a car." I told him "I've been open about talking to multiple dealers trying to source a black or blue GT2 because of the shortage from the very beginning" he said "Nah, you're just tire kicking, so I'm not going to sell you ANY car and am going to refund you your deposit."
I should have walked when the salesman (who was a nice Polish guy who deserves a better employer) informed me that the car was unavailable to see Sunday because the owner's son took it out for the weekend. crowleykia-sucks.com/
I changed my mind about the Ceramic Silver a few days later when I saw a C8 in a very similar shade and thought "I could live with Ceramic Silver" - after all I bought a ZR1 Corvette in black, when I wanted a blue one, and ended up loving it. I called Bill Dodge back and asked if the car was spoken with, I'd be happy getting into any GT2 that isn't red (I wanted to get my purchase in before COVID causes further shutdowns and shortages) and fortunately it was available so I put $1,000 down over the phone to reserve it then the car came in weeks earlier than expected, and so I started on the financing, and then it got in three days before expected so I cut a trip short and went straight to the bank and then home to pick the car up immediately. I put more than 140 miles on it the first day. Bill Dodge were EXCELLENT throughout; they helped me source a car, and even encouraged me to shop around because other dealerships who were boldly advertising "market adjustment markups" and had GT2s (and Tellurides!) sitting unsold, were not swapping cars with other dealers. Oh and those GT2s with the $10,000 and $6,000 markups? They're sitting unsold. Kia, you really need to tear up Dan O'Brien's franchise agreements as well as Crawley's.
Kia/Hyundai, your problems are not your products, but your Kia dealers. If they knew how to treat upscale customers and enthusiasts, and knew how to market upscale cars, you'd have been moving a lot more Stingers and K900s. I almost didn't consider one because of the nameplate.
