I'm in Southern Nebraska and it's mid janurary. We went from 30s-40s all of december with a few days below freezing. This past week just dropped from that to single digit highs and lows as low as -25. Wind and snow, went out after work to check the ice and got a solid 9 inches of clear ice. I bought an expensive tent and auger this year to really get into ice fishing and fear I may only get to go out 3 times, this friday, saturday, and sunday. because the following week is above freezing with a slight chance of rain likely to kill the ice.
Awesome to see you travel to find the ice and walleye. Im an Ohio boy that lives in the western basin of lake erie and no ice in our future so i have to watch youtube to get my fix thanks for the amazing walleye fishing and winter content
next week we'll start to make tons of ice up here in the northern midwest. This is the first year I haven't been able to get on the ice before January 5th
Thank you Tom. You know I've been following you for a long time. We all appreciate your passion and dedication. Happy New Year and be safe out there. See ya in 2024🎣 3:02
Thanks for your patients and willingness to hunt down some hard water! Unfortunately the big ones decided to stay deep, it was still a great day watching you catching eaters. Happy New Year and here’s hoping for some colder temps in 2024 🎉🎉
You don’t have to drive all that way Tom to catch lots of big walleye. There is plenty of safe ice in west central Minnesota. Just there is 1,048 lakes in a 65 mile radius in the county I live in. Most lakes haven’t been fished in years if you know what you are looking for around this area. Most locals won’t give much information around here just about the bigger busy bodies of water.
Heading up your way tomorrow night to explore your lakes and do a little camping! A lot of the smaller lakes don't have any recent lake surveys which is unfortunate
Come to North Bay, Ontario, blame Canada and try my new lures Mr. Hankey and The Original Perch Pickle! 5" on Nosbonsing today and the walleye were biting.
Thanks for all you do bro. Ive never ever caught as many walleye in my life since I started watching your RUclips vids. I've been beating the best at their own game since I've started learning walleye fishing from one of the best. Thanks happy new Year
The fact that pound perch is annoyance when going after walleye on Devils is kinda ridiculous. Just came back from spending a weekend there. Such a great fishery.
Get fishing on some weedy lakes in 2024 like we all have to do ,those clear Minnesota lakes is a total different scenario! Happy New Year from Ont. Canada
Finally made it to devils for the first time 2 years ago after living in ND for close to 15. Didn’t live up to the expectations but back to back fronts didnt help our case. Glad you are catching fish when you go! I hope to get back there soon and try again!
Ya it's been a crazy winter . 8" of ice close to shore 4" if you go out deeper. Still have open water on sum places . Great work finding ice and fish !
Thanks bro for all you do. December 23 I caught so many walleye it was sic I caught them on the rip stop and never have I seen walleye this big. I got 3 beauty rings which are tags in Thier lips I hit the jackpot
Good video as usual. Watching you struggle through the ice season has me watching our water Temps here in the west. We have a potential weird prespawn and spawn period setting up. Our spawn Temps seem to run 45 to 50 degrees, currently we're running 10 degrees warmer than usual ( 47 degrees +/- a degree. What do you suppose happens to the spawn cycle if water Temps start higher than the trigger temps?
Honestly we have some good ice around Bemidji and the big lakes are the only ones I wouldn’t trust this year but even with all the rain and warm weather the ice I been finding on smaller lakes is actually better ice then we have had in the last ten years so instead of hitting big lakes try smaller lakes. Alota small lakes I fish have had bigger and more fish then the big lakes I have ever fished. Good luck everyone and be safe
Thank You for the Heroic Effort involved in producing this content Tom …….. Beyond exceptional and very much appreciated !!! Safe Travels and a Healthy New Year ahead 🎊🥳🎣⭐️ ✨🎣💫
Is their a chance you can dump the Bird and get a garmin? Way better bottom quality and easier to see the fish on video. I've fished with all of them side by side and by far garmin was way easier to use and way clearer and better real time.
i live on an island in the st. lawrence river by kingston 3 to 9 c with rain for the last 4 wks, yes the boys are fishing in their heated boats the fishing has been very good BUT this ia NOT good for mother nature.
Look at the bright side. I've had my boat out past Christmas. Never seen so many walleyes in the reeds. I fish alot of shallow flats so this late winter walleye fishing has been phenomenal.
Your sponsors and fans should respect the effort you have to put in this year.
It's a labor of love haha

“Welcome to North Dakota” Music to my ears
Agreed! There are a lot of walleyes in that state .... and I like that.

Really putting the miles on this year. Thanks for watching
@TomBoley always love the videos heck of a life to have I know its not all sunshine and roses but I can think of worse jobs to have.

Definitely a crazy year!
Tom, thanks for keeping some of our dreams alive. Northern Michigan is a long way from being iced up. Thanks for putting in the work!
Fuel bill is a little steep this month but we are on ice .
Thanks for watching
I feel you. I'm in the Traverse City area, and there's 0 ice to be found.
Enjoyable video to watch! I liked all the different electronics and camera views. I also liked the room views and resort details.
👍 🎣 🇺🇸

Thanks for watching. I lost 1 upper 20s fish that day... Said too many bad words for that clip to make RUclips
Tom...2 years ago in wyoming we didn't get ice till January....I feel you. Good luck! Stay safe. Great video as usual man, I love that I can heat you
Great video Happy New Year brother

Ever planning on doing a trip up in Canada? Would love to see a Tom Boley style smackdown on some greenback walleyes
Double fisted 😊. Thanks for putting in the work and taking us along. Cheers, JJ
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching!

Good to hear!
Thanks for watching and keep catching em!
Nice video😊
Thanks for watching!
Another excellent, entertaining video. Can't imagine the work put in to get the content. Thanks! Btw, why did you leave LOTW so soon?

It's a great fishery. But like everywhere.... Fishing is fishing.
Man, what a video! I see that you are now using Hi-Viz line now?
Ya it's been a crazy winter . 8" of ice close to shore 4" if you go out deeper. Still have open water on sum places . Great work finding ice and fish !
Gotta be so careful this season! Especially once it gets a little snow and you can't see that ice change ..
@@TomBoley Your 💯 % rite my dude always be suspicious of changing ice structure.
Do you install the flicker blade onto the kastermaster yourself? I’ve never seen Acme blades like that at any bait store.
Awesome thanks for the content. Do you ever consider doing a walleye/crappie bite on red lake later in the winter?
Tom, when and why did you make the switch from the Marcum Pursuit?
Thanks bro for all you do. December 23 I caught so many walleye it was sic I caught them on the rip stop and never have I seen walleye this big. I got 3 beauty rings which are tags in Thier lips I hit the jackpot
That's awesome good work! 👍
Hey Tom, think we can talk you out of your Mega Live settings? Please and thank you...
Nice !
When will you go after some big greenbacks?
Tom did you switch reels?! Is there a reason, and what’s the new reel??
Man that's nice to use the drone to scout with safe any veiw you want from high to low.
Definitely helps get an idea where the sheets change.
Good video as usual. Watching you struggle through the ice season has me watching our water Temps here in the west. We have a potential weird prespawn and spawn period setting up. I know you said it in this video Tom but I would love to see you chase jumbo perch on devils lake!!!!!!
Idk why.... I just don't care about perch haha
When you bring your sled out there do you have to buy any pass or anything like that?
Tom it looks as though you use braid ? Then a floro leader ? 👍👍
Yes... 8# braid to flouro lead

What kind of drone are you using?
Im in south ontario 5 hours north on the small ponds has ice
6 mile for the Drone footage ?
What lb line are you using and brand?
Noticed you've been using a lot of Shimano Sedonas lately. Any reason for the change?
How did the ice sratchers work? I am having trouble with mine getting enough cooling. Sliders are fine.
Mine work good. I will stop every few miles ... Drill and hole and kick all the slush into my track just to be safe .
hahaha, we barely have ice in canada good luck
Try lake of the woods
Thank You for the Heroic Effort involved in producing this content Tom ……..

What brand of gloves u wearing? Look warm n dry.
Simms wool fingerless and a heavy Simms glove over the top.
Over the top drone footage....(cough) Jay Siemens! (cough)
Nice
Thanks for watching!
You got a lot more snow than us and I’m in canada
Time to head to big windy(aka lake winnipeg) they sre driving trucks on their
I know.... Gotta make it up there!
how much would that trip cost a person

Would love to make that drive, but cant justify 15 hour drive each way for a catch and release road trip.
Good lake to keep a few eaters on.
🎣
Better just move to ND Tom!
This winter I shoulda just moved there haha
What drone do you use
DJI mavic 3
@@TomBoleythank you

Climate Change Tom, come'on....
Global warming

Is that why Arctic ice is highest in 20 years? It's El Nino and we are at solar max in the solar cycle.
I would rather watch drone footage than you jabbering about nothing and driving for the first 8 minutes honestly.
Maybe I'll start doing 30 minute drone videos with light music and soft narration.
Thanks for watching
@@TomBoley lol....i knew when you said that in the video there would be a hater. I'm guessing you did too haha
Don't Luke it dont watch it. There is such a thing as fast forward.
Great job keep up the good work Tom
