It's nice to find someone that will actually teach you something rather than just catch fish and not say how they are catching them. Thanks Tom
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the precise description of how you work each type of bait. That's the kind of information that gets me to tune in to Tom Boley videos.
Thanks for watching!
New subscriber here. I'm super stoked that i found your channel so I can learn more about ice fishing and targeting walleye. And it's nice to find channels that live close to me and fish for the same species
He’s one of the best on lakes full of walleyes. Still waiting for him to come to Michigan and show us how it’s done lol. Gets kinda boring over the years watching the same routine. Same lakes stacked full of eyes.
This is a good channel more walleye fishing search for Jay and the best fishing CSO
When it comes to walleye, he’s second to none
Welcome aboard!
@lloydbeebe3716 I grew up in Hesperia and Ludington, Michigan. My dad and I spent all our time on trout and steelhead tho. Now I'm in Iowa chasing walleye and smallies.
Last spring, just after opener, i caught 27 walleye in 4 nights of fishing. All caught on a #11 black and white floating rapala. Its a post-spawn spot with all males too. The best walleye fishing in my lifetime at 56 years old.
Thanks for keeping some "eaters" Dax. I always appreciate fisherman not embarrassed to keep fish and enjoy eating the harvest.
Many utubers have a freezer full already too.
Im not embarrassed to keep a few ... I would rather eat venison though
Will be up there in a few weeks. Appreciate the tips on how to work those baits and cadences!! Liking that flasher screen in the video!!
Good luck fishing!
Love the flasher cams.
I appreciate the video, especially the tips you shared. This kind of content is what made me a Tom Boley fan.
Now, if we could just get some ice here in Northern Michigan....
Crazy winter.... Fingers 🤞 for ice!
Man, I wish I could get into some fishin' like that. What a day! Great video.
Thanks for watching!
Great day of pounding walleyes like how you explain how you use the baits to catch the fish. Thanks for sharing your videos have a great 2024 happy new year.
Appreciate it. Good luck fishing!
Great video!! Excellent teaching too.
Excellent video!!! Great lure selection and camera work.
👍 🎣 🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome day Tom!!thanks fer stoggin us up for next weekend!!
As a newbie I appreciate you showing flasher cam. Love ur videos
Thanks for watching!
Love Dax, he's one hell of a guy. Always enjoy the videos!
Not that you'll really care, but I've heard holding the pout by the belly with both hands they will straighten out. They dont like their gills touched.
Always enjoyable content. Glad you're still getting on em given the twists and turns of this ice aeason
Fried winter walleye is patently the best thing a man can put in his mouth. Please invite me! I live in Dallas TX and can’t get this golden goodness down here
Is it just me or do others get so pumped up watching when the fish shoots up at the bait!! I mean dang!!!
There is something about watching a flasher that is exciting!
Awesome video. I can't wait to get on the ice.
Good luck when you do👍
@TomBoley heading up to Presque isle early February to hit a bunch of lakes around that area.
Nice, hope to get out myself for hardwater fishing soon!
Alot of action!! Still waiting for ice here in NY
For ice fishing , the underwater camera sure makes the fishing more fun 🎣👍😎🤗.....
I cant wait to get out this weekend wish I didnt have to drive as far north though. Also Tom I enjoyed your explanation of why you like the rod you use, that seems so long but I guess it works!
Once you fish the longer rods you will never go back.
Awsome video good to see the flasher again there are so much livescope vids right now i dont blame yous if i could afford id be using too but not hapenin yet ive leared alot from you Tom over the years really appreciate it
Thanks for watching man. Always something cool about watching the flasher!
Thanks for finding the ice Tom!!
Thanks for watching.... It's been a struggle this year
Love the flasher cam
We’re about to say good old days with the flashers 😂
Love how your still rockin the flasher
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video, how do you add the blade to the kastmaster style bait?
That was a massive burbot!
They are a handful haha!
Nice to see the flasher on the helix come back....
Always fun watching the red lines
This was a great video! Thanks
Appreciate you watching!
New fan. New subscriber. I especially appreciate the information so I can learn. 20:29
Been watching for years! Please try to do a surprise collaboration with James Holst from IDO. So many people would tune in!!!
Awesome video I love your channel!!
Could you walk us through your hook sets it seems like you really hit’em hard..?
I always set the hook too hard haha
Just started watching your videos and love all the great info! I’m supposed to be ice fishing out in central Minnesota between Nevis and Leech lake area in a couple of weeks. Are you based around there? Any chance that we’ll actually have ice?
Some will have ice some won't. Gotta be so careful this year
@@TomBoleyI appreciate it! Hoping to test out some of these jigging skills you’ve been demonstrating!
Thanks!
Play keep away.... OK 👍! Nice info
What is your ice auger setup? You make it look so easy, I bought the drill adapter for my hand crank auger and it doesn't seem to be as easy as you make it look
Do you ever fish with fans? Or open to possibly fishing a way you probably haven’t done?
Awesome video🐟
Tom do you have any tips for when they just don’t wanna commit to anything? I’ve been finding the fish but it doesn’t seem to matter color size style of bait etc, I’ll get walleye to chase 5-20ft up but they race back down every time, I’ve caught plenty of walleye but this season theyve been kicking my ass haha, they either chase and don’t commit or mark for abit then disappear again
Perch and walleye best eating fish out there
Tom , also on another note, the Canadians on the north side of Rainy Lake have had a limit of 1 for 20 years, US fisherman complain a lot but protects the low population from exploitation by US residents, I have a friend who always takes over his limit a lot. I don't want to hear a outfit cause when he gets caught I don't want the blame, 1 works
Did you switch to Shimano reels? I don’t see a piscifun on this video.
Great video. I moved from Texas to Minnesota this summer and was trying to get into ice fishing. Do you have any beginner set up guide videos or something?
I honestly don't think I have one specific video on that.
Basically you need.... A few rods... A flasher .. and auger and a few baits.
What area do you live in now? I'm always game to teach a new person.
Tom, what line are you using? It looked blue.
Another great video. Thank you.
Suffix 832 ice braid 8#
Location location location. To consistently get on numbers of walleyes, one must do exactly that: locate yourself at prime areas at the correct times and lure choice in winter is less important. Once you're on the x, aggressively feeding walleyes will eat most offerings. Last time I checked, no walleye ever keyed in on eating a chartreuse and pink lead jigging minnow. Location first then lure choice last in my book.
Классная рыбалка👍я тоже очень люблю зимой ловить судака со льда. Обычно использую в качестве основной лески... Флюрокарбон или плетеную леску 8 жил. Подскажите пожалуйста,что у вас намотано на катушках?
thanks tom from cumberland, WI
Thanks for watching!
Thank you
GREAT InFO👍
HEAVY RAIN 🌧️ here in NW Michigan.
Warm temps 🥵 and El Niño Ice 🧊 …..
Meaning NO Ice 🧊 !!!!!!
I know . There is basically no ice withing 3 hours of where I live.... Strange winter
Ryan Hall Weather on You Tube predicted this Weather Pattern back in September! I wish that I had a boat available …… much safer and available fishing . Thank You Tom, for Your

Nice Pound job
Don’t think I caught what lake you ended up at. Where was this? I’m in Minnesota too
You don’t care for the “a scope” mode Tom ?
How do you catch walleye if your somewhere, big lake, where you don't see a fish all day. And you don't want to move having a big tent.
If you hold the eelpout under its belly it will straighten out.
P4 is 🔥
I'd like to go fishing with you some day
Brother have you heard of ice fishing rods they are shorter so you don't have to hold it 5 feet back
Nice !
I need all the help I can get 😂
Nice
Been using the vrod for past two years open water. Always have good luck with it. But just wondering for ice which of the holes for the clip is best?
Middle one is always what I do!
Howdy Tom, who makes that auger mount on front of your Skidoo? Thanks!
Ice digger
Try Lake of the woods
How’d you attach the spinner blade?
When you say the bigger reaction baits what size specifically are you switching to the 45 M? I just grabbed the 42 M Elliot and use a lot of jigging raps and so on.
42 m is a great rod... Probably the most universal in the lineup
What do you use for the "swivel" off the hooks of the Kastmaster blade bait? Trying to find something online to add to mine and I'm unsuccessful
I run a fastatch clip. Check thorne brothers.
I've heard it you don't hold them by the gills they will straighten out for a pic .
I've never seen a straight burbot haha
@@TomBoley haha your not wrong 🤣
Tom what is your preferred treble hook and size on the Beaver Dams? Thx
Kinda depends on size of minnow. Most the time a #8 vmc 9650
@@TomBoley I bought some #8 triples that you recommended in your tip up video .Some people told me they were too big.I was told to get 14's.I will stick with 8's and 10's. Thx...
The real deal is get the VMC Sure-Set hooks at Thorne Brothers or online they have 1 barb that stick out longer than the other two so you can hook the minnow on that longer barb. Even in small sizes stick with #8, 10, 12.
Sure set trebles.
🎣
Question what size drill I have use for a 10 inch auger blade
Milwaukee fuel 1400 in lb hammer drill
Ah man, there is a great way to show that burbot off, it’s right on my dinner table. 😂
Unfortunately still on the boat here in Central Wisconsin walleyes are still cracking jigs and tickle tails here
That honestly sounds like more fun than ice haha
Pine Island 😉
A few walleyes have been hauled over that island
How much did you have to spend on a permit to fish there
A permit to fish Lake of the woods? Lol
WTF steve?
It's all skill and experience. There's plenty of locals here that have just as good or better days. Just have to find em and stay on them.
Find a local trapper. Ask him to make you "beaver bait". You take a beaver tail, and skin it out. And then you cut strips out of the tail, put em in glycerin to preserve em, and those things are MONEY for that "eye candy" bottom of a treble.
You on tiktok
Awesome video, thanks for the tips!
I learned a new name for a Burbot. Never heard anyone call a Burbot a "Eelpout" before.
Up here in Canada we call them Burbot (Bur-butt) or Ling Cod.
They also go by the name “Lawyer” haha
Ling, lawyer, cusk, burb, burbot, eelpout, pout, cod etc. Lots of names for them.
What size of battery do you use on your drill?
12amp
Hey Tom! my names Bud Im from Montreal Lake, Sask Canada on the 23rd of next month we have our yearly ice fishing derby for walleye and Jack fish.1st prize 100.000 Dollars!!! for Walleye..If anyone is interested?? pay us a visit..thx
Are you one of the guys that had to get rescued from Red lake 😊
This isn't red lake.
@@TomBoley I was just kidding anyway, I live pretty near lake Superior and the inland lakes are not fishable, blows my mind that Minnesota has fishable ice.
Did he say you sold your boat???
Ordered another warrior already!
@@TomBoley let’s break her in on Lake Erie this spring!
Why wouldn’t you just say your on LOTW? Lol like it’s some secret
Doesn't really matter if I name it or not... Pretty obvious based on the species of fish
Is it out of line to ask where?
LOTW. Burbot and Sauger, where else could he be.
@@jackramsey3469could easily be rainy, kabetogema or Sandpoint as well. Same system. Plenty if fish and more water than you could ever fish in an entire lifetime.
Sold your boat??? What the story there please.
Boat another 2090 warrior
What is this ice you speak of???
Solidified water found only in extremely remote regions of upper Midwest.
You could have told what lake you were on.
My advise to people trying for walleye in northern mn ...... BARE RED HOOK and minnow.... all I use especially on upper red.....
Are you guys on Upper Red......
