Nice to see more without forward facing sonar. The sound of the water hitting the boat brings back memories of fishing out of my grandpas 14 with a 9 hp Johnson 😄
Being someone that fishes daily with a ffs it’s very nice seeing you take it back and use side imaging. I’m to the point on my chain of lakes I’d rather just use side imaging then even use my ffs
Good Video! Great tip on how to use side scan and turning the boat to know where to cast. Still hoping for that video showing the part from launching the boat to your first cast. How do you decide when to stop looking and start fishing.
Enjoyed it Tom. I’m heading out Tuesday, but after the hurricane came through the other day, not sure how the fishing will be on Lake Blue Ridge in GA. Cooling off a little but the lake has been lowered 11 ft, so they should at least be concentrated…Keep on inspiring us! 🦅
Really timely video. Just got back from Mille Lacs where fishing was tough. 71 degree water, no wind, bright sun. Bet the weed bite might have been worth a try, but didn’t check it.
Recently got my first boat and looking to get a decent fish finder with side imaging- what do you recommend I start with without breaking the bank? (Thinking around $500) Thanks!
Can you put a camera on the graph while you stay on fish on side imaging. And follow them. Also a segment specifically on a jig n a crawler without ffs using side imaging. Thanks Tom
Hey Tom....(Or any experienced angles that could possibly help out). I'm wondering what's the best approach when fishing new lakes? I recently got a boat similar to yours in this vid and picked up a Garmin 9SV/CV and also have my original 6" Humming Bird. I'm using a 24v Minn trolling motor and use it for getting to my locations unless it's a far distance. I don't like running the 2 stroke. I've been recording new lakes to build up my maps but if time is somewhat limited, is there any tips to find good areas? I'm taking my 8yr girl with me and although she hasn't caught any bigger fish she keeps asking to go out so I'm kind of desperate to find some area to get her first BIG fish!!! Anything would help at this point and thanks for the vids they are already contain so much info....Peace.
Typically the lakes iv'e started going to are shallow (6' average with pockets 20'). They connect to the Trent Severn water system leading to Lake Ontario. My favorite lake is by far the deepest but haven't charted all of it. I've charted large areas over 100' with an average but fish closer to shores between 8'-20' which is the Bay of Quinte which connects directly into Lake Ontario also known for monster Walleyes....sadly no luck yet but ill be dammed if I don't hit some.....TY
@@iconforu2c the largest fish you will find are more than likely going to be in deeper water( on the edges of the weeds) try following the weed edges alongside the sharpest drop off. The larger fish seam like they bite early in the morning and later in the afternoon. I usually use creek chubs and med suckers minnows on a Lindy rig or jig in the fall on these areas with good success when the water temperature is 50-60°. I live in central MN
@@danstreet8134 Thanks Dan. Looks like Tom got several ppl asking the same questions judging by his new vid lol. All that said, do you typically scan to find those drop off's and potential fish being seen in those areas before you start or just hit the first drop/weed line you find? I fish with everything jig, spinner, ect how do you typically start out.....thanks again.
You sound a little rough get some vitamins down and lots of juice. You know Tom I'm really surprised that more angler companies haven't hired you for commercial you have one heck of a voice. Really enjoyed this video thank you 😊
Good move showing side imaging. Watching forward facing sonar videos gets boring after awhile, it's so boring I don't watch videos which feature forward facing sonar fishing.
@@kenn1320yes it also gives you more info than any commentary or other overlay could about what he’s fishing, depth, how they are positioned, how they strike, etc. so cool!
I literally don’t fish for walleyes, and I still watch your videos cause they’re that 🔥🔥
When I saw you spin the boat around to scan I immediately was like why the heck haven’t I tried that?! Learn something new all the time. Thanks Tom!
ya! i thought so too.. like using side imaging beam as a mega 360 sort of... @Tom Boley.. you are a genius!!

Hope to run into you on the ice again this winter on the flowage. Your video quality is awesome.

Another great video, and brought back the epic intro...." what is going on"
Mitch will be proud of you bass fishing. Lol

What did you do? I targeted rocks with slip bobber and did well.
@@catchonedrinktwo yeah, with the warm water I went deep, 17-24…mud flats, sand, gravel, but didn’t go south.
Do you ever fish the Great Lakes? Okaboji Spirit Lake.
good to see the pups, should have brought them fishing
Thanks Tom.
When are we gonna start seeing Tom the family man fishing together. Not old enough yet? Love your content
Nice video helps if you tell side imaging settings thanks
Clear water and bottoms definitely show way better imaging
Round lake Hayward huh? Would be fun to get out there in the fall

Tom what makes you chose the jig over the search bait this time of year?
These shallow fish if they are spooky I prefer jig
Tom what is going on with the license and lettering on your boat?
Nice
Fall crappies with the shelbster?!? I think i speak for everyone 😂

What type of lakes are in your area?

Love all your videos man…should ditch the boat and get on the river bank for some shore fishin this fall
👏🙏
Oh, and feel better…
Fishing like this, how come you're not getting robbed by perch?
I only cast at schools of walleyes

You will certainly appreciate my next video then
Idk if it's so boring.. but it's alot of technology that alot of people can't afford or have access too. So it becomes irrelevant. It's unfortunate
I personally love when ffs screen is overlayed! Moreso than anything else
@@FindingAdventure exactly. I havent fished for walleyes yet, but watching them on ffs and then setting the hook, keeps me coming back to his videos.
