- In this video, I tell you how to use the official wrist strap with your Meta Quest 3 and turn it into an overhand or knuckle strap for your Quest 3 controllers.
As we all wait for third-party makers to develop and produce knuckle straps for your shiny new Quest 3, I bring you a few methods on how to turn your existing Quest 3 wrist strap into a knuckle strap. It is a simple task that only seconds to complete. I guide you through each step on how to do it, it's so simple, that you wish you did it sooner!
There are 4 methods in total in this video. The first only really works for smaller hand sizes, whilst methods 2 and 3 will cater for large hands. Method 4 is adjustable and will work for all hand sizes.
Method #1: Small Hand Strap
1. Take the existing wrist strap and push the plastic slider/toggle to the base of the controller.
2. Whilst holding the controller loop the wrist strap over the back of your hand and then over the top of the controller.
3. With your other hand, take the plastic slider/toggle and slide it up to the controller to hold the strap in place.
Method #2: Large Hand Strap
1. Take the existing wrist strap and push the plastic slider/toggle towards the controller to create a little loop at the end.
2. Take a small-sized hair band or elastic band and pass the end through the small loop on the wrist strap.
3. Take the lower end of the hair band, then feed it through, back on itself and pull it to tighten onto itself, around the wrist strap.
4. Now loop the attached hair band over the top of the controller.
Method #3: Double Loop Strap
1. Take the existing wrist strap and push the plastic slider/toggle towards the controller to create a little loop at the end.
2. Take a small-sized hair band or elastic band and pass the end through the small loop on the wrist strap.
3. Take the lower and top ends of the hair band and hold them together.
4. Still holding them together, pass them over the top of the controller
Method #4: Adjustable Strap
1. Take the existing wrist strap and push the plastic slider/toggle towards the controller to create a little loop at the end.
2. Tape a small-sized hair band or elastic band and pass the end of the wrist strap through it.
3. Holding the lower portion of the hair band with your thumb, open the bigger portion of the wrist strap to widen it enough to reach through and pull the top end of the hair band through.
4. Pull the top to tighten the hair band onto the wrist strap.
5. Take the top of the hair band loop and pass it through the small loop at the end of the wrist strap and bend over the end of the wrist strap loop over onto itself.
6. Take the hair band and place it over the top of the head of the controller. Make sure the bent-over loop of the wrist strap end is facing upwards, away from the controller.
7. Slide in your hand and position the strap onto the back of your hand.
8. To tighten, grab the small loop we bent backwards and pull it down and away from the controller, across the back of your hand to tighten it.

Thanks for the mod. I looked for this as soon as I got my headset. I used the same one for my Quest 2.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Finally I wont have the fear of throwing my controller

oh my god thank you for this video, i was using a quest 2 version where you tie the rope to the tracking ring but now that its gone i was wondering if someone figured out a method for the quest 3 controllers
Awesome! Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
bro thanks so much i was trying to find how to do it bc i saw somebody do it on yt but i cant find the vid
Glad it helped you. Thanks for watching.
This is a neat idea but I'm finding as soon as I depress the button it gets held down by the strap
Yea this really isn’t a solution at all
@@doogalpieyeah I guess it's ok for games which don't use that button
You could try some tape to lift it away from the button. Now way is this a long lasting, permanent solution really. The AMVR straps I just reviewed here are worth looking into ruclips.net/video/4wU0dc5oGe8/видео.htmlsi=56WG2R0Y7wn05hcD
Can you do a method for small hands
The adjustable version would be best suited for smaller hands
Could you test Quest 2 fans on the Quest 3 please
Any Q2 fan that works with a facial interface (which I think most of them are) will not work on the Q3 as the hardware is all different.
@@OQPlay that’s a shame
Instructions unclear: My controller is now a rubber ball
😂
My hand is too big for this lol
Even the bungee band method 2,3 or 4?
the wire slips down and presses down the button. well, but still a like for the effort ^^
Thanks. A bit of tape might keep it away from the button.
string pushes down too much on the button for this to work sadly
Yup. It’s only really a temporary solution.
Where can I find the eye decals please?
These aren’t for sale as to make them fit was super hard to get right so I thought not many would be up for trying. I tried to do a simpler version but that didn’t look as good.
Question: knowing it could be a hard install, would you still have purchased them?
Basically you have to cut holes out where the pupils/lenses go in order to align the decal. If that doesn’t phase you I could out them on sale and mark them as a hard install.
Common just buy a strap. they cost no more than a cup of coffee.
Yup, it’s only really a temp solution.
They're $70 in Australia. I don't drink coffee but that's more than 10 cups, I'm sure.
@@squall6789 get better coffee :D
@@squall6789 same here in indonesia!
if we use Starbucks Americano Caffe(hot variant/not ice cold) as the baseline we can buy 16 coffee just for 1 set of straps _and i dont drink coffee much unless ive made my own, especially ready made starbucks so i had to google the prices lol_
and as a comparasion, that 1 starbucks coffe prices can be used for 1 course of lunch meal.heck sometimes you can get more,so 1 starbucks can be used for a breakfast and a lunch
if your going to spend $500+ why wouldnt you just buy knuckle straps?
Money maybe. This isn’t a permanent solution. Grips/Knuckle straps will always be better. Some folk may not be able to afford some right away so this will tie them over until they can pick some decent straps up.
@@OQPlaywhat this guy said.
Cuz I just blew all my money on the $500+ quest 3 😭
