I tell you how to use the official wrist strap that cam with your Oculus Quest 2 and turn it into an overhand or knuckle strap for your Quest 2 controllers.
As we wait for third-party makers to develop and produce knuckle straps for your shiny new Quest 2, we bring you this tip that turns your existing Quest 2 wrist strap into a knuckle strap. It is a simple task that only takes a few minutes. We guide you through each step on how to do it, it's so simple, you wish you did it sooner.

STEPS:
1. Open the battery controller compartment
2. Remove the strap that is in place by pulling the tab at the bottom
3. Take the corded end and pass it through the top of the sensor ring
4. Bring both ends back together and pass the plastic end of the strap through the loop of the cord
5. Pull the cord through so it tightens around the bottom part of the sensor ring
6. Attach the plastic end back into the battery compartment area
7. Whilst holding the cable inside the hole position at the bottom of the controller reattach the battery compartment panel back on and close
8. That's it, slide your hand in between the cable and the controller handle
TOO SMALL?
9. If the cable is too small for your hand to go through, add an extra loop band, like a small hair band or tied string loop (it has to be an enclosed loop) around the sensor ring first then continue from Step 3 by passing the cord strap through the band instead of the sensor ring and pull tight.

This is a nice free hand strap it’s a little tight and it does leave a mark on my hands but it’s still nice

I’m having trouble with this, I can’t put the battery door back on and I tried putting the strap in harder but it does not work for me. Any tips?
Is the strap tucked fully into the gap at the bottom of the controller. It can stop the door from sliding all the way forward.

For me the straps don’t fit the battery tray is there something I’m doing wrong?
I dont think you can swap the strap onto the other controller, so make sure you are using the same strap for the same controller side.
Down side is that my hands are too big for it so I'm going to have to buy straps for my controllers
Probably for the best. This is just a free temporary hack. I wouldn’t want to use this permanently
tried this on the q2 i just bought and they have made the straps shorter and this didnt work for my smallish hands at all

They slide off pretty easily, and you’re going to have to do it sooner or later once the batteries expire i them.

It is SO FRUSTRATING TO GET THE CAP ON. With the string I try to get into hole but it doesn't work what do i do?
Make sure you're reattaching the right wrist strap to the right hole, the plastic slider should have an L or an R on it.

Hey man, thanks for this. My Quest is on its way and I was wondering whether this is viable. I mean, doing this won't make the controllers fall from my hands while performing throw motion, would it?
That depends on your power of throw. I would class this method as a temporary solution before getting something more dedicated to the controller. Like the Kiwi Grips that I reviewed recently.
If your hands are big you might find it too tight. Or you can add some cable or elastics to make it bigger. But I would seek a buying a better grip pretty soon. Especially if you think you’ll be letting go when throwing.
Dont buy from kiwi its an Chinese Business, when i bought a cable for my quest i had to wait 20 to 30 days so i suggest buying from something else:)

Just tried this. It's a little snug but ultimately seems to work great.
They are a little time for some. There is another trick you can do by adding a little band around the sensor ring and then loop the strap around that. This works for bigger hands.
@@OQPlay I mean it fits fine, just needs like a fraction of a cm more give to be entirely comfy. I've got mine setup this way anyway and will prolly keep it that way lol.
I cannot get the straps in the little slit it’s supposed to go in it’s just blocking it either way
Are you using the right strap for the right side controller? They are shaped in certain way that they will only go in the correct controller side.

No problem. You can extend their reach by adding a hair band or another piece of looped cord.

I’m having trouble getting it to close all the way
Make sure the plastic end of the cord is all the way in, and the cord is inside the exit hole before closing the doors shut
