A note regarding power banks. Not all will actively charge the headset while playing. In fact you should look for one with chick charging usbc to usbc function outputting upwards of 20W. I have one outputting up to 30W and don't have any issues with battery life anymore
Thanks, this is good to know, I think I’ll make a separate video on this as the quest 3 is hungrier than the 2 and choosing a powerbank is always tricky.
great tips as always. i just want to add something about power bank: your power bank must have type c output and handle at least 18 watt for external device. because quest 3 is a power hungry device and in the intense and heavy graphices games when the headset use its full power draw, if your power bank cant handle at least 18 watt power output the headset is not charged and eventually died out fast. i recommended power bank with type c output and 20 watt output power.
But DO the power ports melt like the quest 2 ? Or have they fixed that extremely dangerous blunder! Have the quest 2 been recalled yet ? or are they soon to be Recalled ? Does any one know if i can get my son's quest 2 with a burnt and melted out power port replaced ?
Thank you for the videos. Do have a question though you said that you can set ipd to min or Max but you did not say how to get to the minimum that was not the mechanical minimum all the way down to 53. Thank you for info
Hi Steve - you can set it mechanically to the number stated but there is an accommodation range that is a wider range than the number you see. You don’t set it - the headset just accommodates a range bigger than the minimum and maximum so if your ipd is at either end of the scale then you set it to min or max.
This is usually set per game and you have to change it in the games settings under motion sensitivity, game comfort or vignette - the zooming in creates a vignette to reduce motion sickness so turn it off where possible
For some reason voice control wasn’t activated with the quest 2 or quest 3 and I haven’t ever read why or heard if it will change. So dictation will be similar I would think as it’s reliant on the same thing.
you mentioned. accommodation I. P. D... But you did not specify where that could be set or where it is adjusted. and I haven't found anything else on the Internet that says this exists. My **** has been blurry since I got it. I even downloaded an old side question. that allowed me to change the refresh rate. and nothing.
Can you pair the headset with the mobile quest app that are both logged in with a secondary account? I tried it but I'm stuck on the "Checking headset status" page :/
I just got the Quest 3 and my passthrough image does look much more pixely then what you show in the video. (like I could not read anything on my phone) I thought I forgot to take of some peels but no. Is there something I am missing?
I’d get just the headset to start with - you might find the head strap comfy enough - plus there will be loads of new head straps out in the coming months that are cheaper than the Elite strap
I would return it and buy another one from a different place in case it was a bad batch. Also the quality in he headset will never match the gameplay videos you see on RUclips it will always be very different so it depends what your expectations are as well and whether you’ve used vr before or not. The quality isn’t the same as a console for example,
@@onlinethoughtzz That's great to hear, however 3 year olds haven't developed their eyesight enough to be using virtual reality consoles. Until he/she's atleast 10 years old, I'd suggest keeping it away from the console. That's just what Meta highly suggests. It's called safety. Have fun!
Just opened the vid but before I go anywhere I know that no1 has done this yet. I'm asking EVERYWHERE! how does 1 manipulate the quest 3 to record passthrough while boundry is off for large scale MR games
I didn’t even realise this - I just turned off the boundary and damn it only records a black screen, the words on screen and the audio in drop dead home invasion. Great question but I don’t have the answer sorry.
I will sometimes move to a different room for more space or to avoid interruption. I lose the long menu bar and find it difficult to locate it without turning the headset off and restarting it. Any suggestions?
I had this and sometimes I would keep pressing the oculus button and other times go to turn it off but then select cancel and this sometimes sorts it - I haven’t had it recently though. Hopefully it will get sorted in the next update.
Could the power bank harm the headset? Also, could you link the actual power bank? I click the link and it takes me to the page but I'm not sure which one you're talking about.
I’ve used powerbanks with the Quest 2 for 3 years with no issues but you need to do it at your own risk. There’s a lot on Reddit about it. Annoyingly on Amazon US the search wouldn’t bring up any of the anker powerbanks. It’s the Anker powercore redux 10000 which is still sold in the UK - you want one with usbc output.
@@maegnificant if you looked at the video, you would see the powerbank was an independant battery not one of those 5W (5v 1A) quest strap battary powerpacks. The anker powercore redux 10000 mentioned here is 18W (5v 3A) and I would suggest anything 18W or over should be fine.
@@dtrjones the Quest 2 has a lower current than the Quest 3, which means the lower the charge of the headset is, the less likely a battery with a lower current is going to actually charge the battery.

Thanks for the comment - Yes that’s what I do - I think the problem sometimes is that people think they’ve powered it off but all they’ve done is put it in standby mode because they haven’t held it for long enough and then the battery goes dead. I did this myself a number of times when I first got the headset - it was very annoying
Can I use a power bank that exceeds 10,000mAh? I have a 20,000mAh powerbank from Baseus (22.5w), which is a reliable brand, I believe. At least that's what people say
Others have used 20,000 in their pocket - I went for 10 because with the quest 2 originally I was putting it on the headset and 10k is quite light. Have a look on Reddit there’s some good info on there.
Heads up, DLC is not shared between profiles. If the alt profile tries to use dlc it will tell them to purchase the DLC and also the game since they don't own it to buy the DLC. It's completely broken.
