I *LOVE* The Island! It’s such an obscure Michael Bay film no one ever remembers for some reason. There’s a chase scene where they throw a metal plate (idk what it’s called it’s a big metal sheet) on a highway during a car chase & it’s insane! That movie is a feast for the eyes & ears. Nobody can do action like Bay!
I was pleasantly surprised with it - had never heard of it until it was suggested to me. It will be a re-watch for a long time to come for me. Lots to unpack in that one! Thanks for chiming in!

I remember being on holiday with my family on a small Greek island, sneaking away, going to the only and very small cinema on the island and watching The Last Starfighter. I had to get my cinema fix, even as a child.

That's how I got hooked too into his channel, lol. What's more, I don't like to watch casually or in a hurry but take the time and leisure to enjoy his videos in their entirety.

I travel and drive a lot for work so I’ll consume long form content to kill time but I know most aren’t like me. At least I try and time-stamp it and that way if there is a release someone wants to see they can flip around. I like to try and “show” the physical media rather than just hold it up and say a few things. Take more time but it’s about the “experience” and seeing that physical media goodness! 😉🤙🏼

I wish you uploaded your videos during weekends, preferably on Fridays or Saturdays, so can have a can of stout and sit through the amazing world of ungraduated stuff, lol. Ambulance I got on 4K, but didn't watch it yet but only on streaming service last year. You must watch Immortals on bluray first before watching it on 3D. Because of the dark nature of the movie the 3D may look little darker. Most of these are unknown to me, so, my must watch list keeps growing btw 😉 I'd like to recommend you couple of interesting movies, complex in nature, a mind's play, how human psychology can be so complex and deeply rooted. 1) 'Shout' (1978, John Hurt, UK Mystery) and 2) 'The Image' (1975, Thriller). fyi: There are no 4Ks for these obsecure movies.
I will check out ALL your recommendations in due time my friend. As you can tell, I take your recommendations seriously! And Immortals was a GREAT watch on bluray. I had watched it when it first came out but I wasn’t quite “awakened” to the possibilities of human origins as I am now…so it made the rewatch THAT much more interesting and enjoyable. Once work dies down for me I’ll get to a more “regular” schedule. It’s been a bear lately with my travel so it’s - chill with the wife Friday, and if I’m lucky get something uploaded Saturday or Sunday. If not, I’m trying to batch record at least two vids on Sunday to come out during the week. A different take is coming from me on Wednesday about why people don’t go to the movies anymore. I'm really wanting to get into Radiance, but I have a limited budget, and right now, Criterion is my thing. If you haven't seen I am Cuba, I can recommend it. It is the most beautiful photographed film I have seen this year, if not ever. It is a stunning visually experience. Absolutely recommend it. Also, if you like history, I am Cuba is amazing. But it is not just intellectual, it is also very artistic. I think it's the best release of 2024 so far, and 2024 has been uncanny, physical media-wise.
If you’re ever able to get into Radiance Films you’ll love them if you like Criterion. Man they are good! I have a couple duplicates in my collection that I could even gift you one day. I don’t see myself selling them and it would just be making the time to support a fellow physical media lover and subscriber to my channel 😉 I’ll definitely check out I am Cuba and soon likely as the Criterion sale is around the corner when I usually go a little nuts on all I want / need to get in their catalog.
Not heard of that Ambulance.. is it a remake of the 1990 Eric Roberts movie or is it a completely different movie? Was a big fan of JG with Nightcrawler so I'll have to check this one out 😎👍
Apparently it is a remake of the Danish film Ambulancen. I’ve never heard of that one or seen it, but it is a Micheal Bay film so it’s pretty over the top in action but MY GOD the Atmos soundtrack is AMAZING! Check it out - especially if you’re into great Atmos. Pretty good film too. Many say it harkens back to his days before Transformers and how crazy that all got…
Honestly not sure - some are pre-orders and some were just spur of the moment grabs. Then there are some (like my radiance ones) that are part of my annual subscription to them. Thankfully I’m in a financial position where I don’t have to worry about the money and just get to enjoy my hobby. When I get too out of hand…the wife will always let me know 😉
Haha. Frivolous Lola is not porn. It's Tinto Brass, so it's very artistic porn. I bought and watched All Ladies Do It (it was a blind buy, I do a lot of blind buys), and it's not my kind of jam, but being what it is, the actors are good, there is a story (sort of) and everything is very beautiful filmed. It's cheesy, but in a artistic way. I sort of liked it, for what it is, don't expect a lot of story, but good actors, beautiful women and great photography. I think Frivolous Lola is better, story-wise, that is what I read anyway. It played in the cinemas here in Denmark, I remember, but I was way to shy to go see it back then.
