Looks like you have to do another review of the new 4k steelbook of this film and it comes with a fantastic Lenticular cover art for the steelbook someone put a lot of effort in this new 4k release and i am not disappointed for once and it's out from the 3rd dec not long i just done my pre order

The Arrow Bluray release appears to be better since it's brighter and for some reason they darkened up the Shout/Scream Factory 4k release. Also, the Arrow Video release is something to behold. It's probably the best looking 1080p bluray in my collection and I have a decent amount of Scream/Shout Factoy, Scorpion, Vinegar Syndrome, and Arrow Video releases. I just looked a screen comparison between the two on dvdexotica's website. They swear the 4k is an upgrade but when I was looking at the screenshots it tells a different story. I guess if people don't like a grainy look which I feel works great for the details in this movie they might not care for the Arrow release but I also even like the colors more because I'm looking at the clowns hair and it's more orange on the film print of Arrow while on Scream/Shout they make it a little redder looking which I don't think is what it's actually suppose to look like. However, with the slight color difference I still don't care that they darkened up this 4k and for some reason 4k's in general tend to dark the image. I don't believe that's how it's suppose to look. I think the 38mbps per second 1080p Arrow Video beats the 4K from the comparisons I'm seeing on DVDExtoica's website. Also, in my opinion a great 1080p release can compete and sometimes even beat 4k releases. I think on film it's less likely to notice much of a difference in resolution since now a days they're scanning 2k and 4k to 1080p. Now in video games such as pc gaming I can tell a different from 2k and 4k on my 32 inch monitor but video games are different and sometimes I can tell a resolution difference in quality on 4k releases compared to 1080p. It just depends how good of a job they do on the release. You should have been comparing the Arrow Video release to this new bluray since both probably use the same film print but did different editing process.

Is height of Southern Comfort and Little Darlings same when kept in media shelf? or Little darling is larger in height?

Worked for me. I use to mod the original Playstation to play import games, with a bunch of wires and a chip that all had to be soldered to the motherboard, and there is something similar for this player. So I'm grateful there was a simple solution, thank you so much!

Hey 🙂 The trick didn't work for me. Pressing "stop" 1 time then after "top menu" 2 times or multiple times, I'm always getting the message the player can't read the disk. Open up the tray, closing it doing the tricks with or without the disk to after put the disk in if it wasn't there don't work neither. The firmware version is 1.82.

I don't know if the latest firmware update has increased the available streaming apps but I'm wondering, if I bought an Apple 4K tv box thing, could I run it through the blueray player or the blueray player through the apple 4k box?

I already own a multi-region blu-ray player; but I gave this method a shot. So far worked on two foreign blu-rays. Certainly quicker than switching inputs / devices. Thanks!

Nice comparison. Helped me in choosing what version to get: 4K. Why? If this was an anime I'd go with the exaggerated colors of the Bluray version. This was a movie made in the 80s and having seen other work by Cronenberg it's safe to say that the 4K is the most authentic/aligned with his vision of how the movie should look. Some shots do look better on blu ray but overall, for consistency the 4K wins for me for the reasons I mentioned.

The most terrifying part about this film is that it’s accurate. Most of the research for it came from primary sources and it shows. On that note, I would love to see this same style be applied to depictions of the holocaust as well as death camps such as Treblinka and Sobibór. Given the rise of holocaust denial in the United States, it is necessary to show the horrors so that we can learn.

We will just get used to 4k ultra and they bring out 8k ultra but we never more brands making dvd player's i spoke with Samsung some dvd player don't have the memory capability to play some blue ray discs

Advice for those who want to find a player to use for their home theater: You should not choose Japanese brands like Panasonic or Sony or something like that, but you should choose reputable South Korean brands with better sound quality like Samsung or LG. Thanks.

Where can I get the steelbook at?

It works on a few but here in the UK I have a blu ray copy of 2 Days In The Valley which is locked to Region A, when I hit the stop button I get a 'this operation cannot be performed now, message and it doesn't allow me to move onto pressing the top menu button?

How about an intermission ! 1. Is the theater offering more than I have in my own theater.eg. d box imax , etc. A different or enhanced experience. Typically the movies I like are not enhanced experience wise. I like your point about pushing agendas. So true. I need a mute button for that and all the gambling commercials. Cheers

Hold up, i got my copy at barnes $ noble and didn't have any stacking discs. Mine had a flap

My Cathy's Curse green eyes had the same problem. A new pair of CR1220 batteries (cost me $10) and a bit of fussing, solved the issue. Works fine for now.

Will this trick also work with region locked dvds? I'm saving up to buy a Panasonic DP-UB824, (as far as I know the UB824 is a European version of the UB820) and I want to collect some blu-rays and dvds that are from region A and 1.

These are some movies I never really thought to check out except for Cathy’s Curse. Frank kind of sold me on that one too lol

I only grab a 4K copy if it comes with a Bluray in it. I find that (apart from HDR) the two versions are pretty comparable especially if you have a decent TV. Also, I bought Beetlejuice about 5 years ago on Bluray and a 4K copy was released recently without a Blu-ray disc. So if I did get the 4k copy, I'd have two cases for one movie. If the 4k copy came with a Bluray, I would have bought it and then sold/gave away my original Bluray copy like I did when the same thing happened with Batman (1989).

This movie is crazy af. I still remember seeing that VHS box art at Blockbuster when I was kid, freaked me out. So glad it got a 4K, this is a must buy.

Does it only work on BR/UHD or does it work on DVD a well?

When I received my Cathy's Curse slipbox both eyes weren't working, so I looked online and saw comments that it might be the batteries. I replaced both batteries and it's working flawlessly. The batteries are CR1220 which I got on Amazon.

So very true…not only can they get scratched but they also get all smudged up with finger prints as you HAVE to grab them to pull them out…gorgeous artwork but I do not, like you, love the sleeves. I’ll say this so far - the Dolby Atmos on these discs is reference quality. It truly kicks!!

Man that is a gorgeous box! BUT I hate those types of sleeves where you store the movies! If you slide it in and out too much they’ll eventually get scratched. I am always extremely careful with my movies and yet I have managed to scratch my avatar directors cut back when it came out on blu ray

You'll never see character in film like Detective Joe ever again. I'm old enough to remember real life people like Detective Joe. What a blast from the past, for better or for worse. I got my package, and only one eye lights up. 😅 I don't know what to do except deal with it.
